Jon and Mona are a great team that made the process of installing solar panels go smoothly. I definitely recommend them to anyone shopping for a solar contractor in this crowded market. You will want to add Brightstar to you number one slot when researching contractors. I did my research and got multiple quotes before selecting Brightstar Solar. When I met Jon at my home for the estimate I appreciated how easy going and matter of fact he was with the process and technical details. There was no hard sales pitch or high pressure to make a decision on this project and I valued that a lot. Jon was very knowledgeable and patient to answer all my question in complete detail both in personal and also later through email. After signing the contract, he walked me through the entire process and was there every step of the way. Everything was done to my local codes and no shortcuts were taken. While Jon orchestrated the on-site work, Mona helped keep everything in order from the paperwork including the Eversource process to get connected to the grid and SMART program. Mona answered all my questions in a timely manner and made the process a breeze. The only small inconveniences/delays during the process were the result of my town and their electrical inspection process. My inspector would give almost no notice for inspections and Jon made it work by being available immediately to help move this project along. I mention this because every house and town will be different and anyone else considering going forward with Brightstar Solar should know that Jon is very professional and works hard with the town to get things right and to work through any politics, etc that may get in the way of the project.

We wholeheartedly endorse Brightstar Solar who installed a 6.4 kWp system on our Spencer, MA home. Brightstar Solar is owned by Jon and Mona Reese who have been in the business for many years. We were recommended to them by a friend and are very happy with are decision to go with Brightstar. Initially Jon came out and patiently answered all our questions regarding incentives, time frame, advantages of different manufacturers. There was no feeling of being pressured into doing anything. He explained everything in a factual manner. He also calculated how well solar would work for us based on our usage, angle of our roof, as well as any obstructions in the area that could block the sun. Fortunately we were in an excellent position regarding all those items. They quickly designed a system and gave us a quote. We went to work setting up the financial end of things. There were a number of incentives offered by the feds and the state which they explained to us. We had some questions for them which they answered quickly. Once the financing thru the Mass Solar Loan program was worked out they came out and started the installation. The installation took a couple days and they worked well with the local folks regarding permitting and with National Grid to get our electric meter swapped out. After everything was online and they had been paid, they still promptly answered any questions we had. In short, if you are thinking of exploring solar you can't make a better choice than Brightstar Solar. They are local, experienced, knowledgeable and responsive.

Neatly installed inverter, switches and meter boxes.

Jon & Mona are not only smart but have a big conscience and a willingness to please which was apparent from the onset.

SO AWFUL!! Completely untrustworthy liars. I made an appt for a $49 "service call" for Friday,…read moreand actually moved/cancelled all my patients for that day to make it work, as that was their first available time. I'm re-doing the kitchen, need an electrician to bring it up to code-- and I wasn't sure exactly what I needed done. (Because they need to know.) I called 3x the week before to confirm the appt. Two days before the scheduled appt they ask me to move it up a day, to Thurs, the next day. I say fine-- thankfully I had cleared that day too. I then hold off doing work on my floor so the electrician will be able to walk on it the next day. I ask if the electrician will be able to do any work on this "service call" but I now hear that the "service" described is just giving a quote. The receptionist says she'll find out if any other work can be done. I'm surprised that the appt wasn't booked with this in mind, as I had requested. Anyway, she calls me back when I'm in the middle of work, and says she needs to hear back by 4pm (in 10 minutes!) whether I still want the appt. Then she calls the next morning to say that appt is gone, as is the Fri appt! At this point, I don't trust this company AT ALL. I never said I didn't want the appointment. An appt had been scheduled. If someone calls the customer to say "I need to hear from you in the next 10 minutes or I'm not coming tomorrow" that is pretty outrageous. Perhaps worst of all was hearing her lies defending this unprofessional, unreliable, deceitful practice the next morning when she informed me she cancelled. She said she'd been trying to reach me. If this were true, why was I not informed every (any?) time I called? This is not the way to run a business. Also, requiring that the customer know exactly what is necessary before booking an appointment is not the way to run a business. Charging $49 for a quote but calling it a "service call" is not the way to run a business. Nor is lying. But moving and then cancelling an appointment capriciously, with ridiculous rationalizations, is so disrespectful and unprofessional. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. It messed up my work schedule, and my whole kitchen remodel schedule, delaying it at least a week. In the future I'll call an electrician who can answer my questions directly, book his own appointments, is straightforward and honest, and doesn't charge for a quote and call it a "service call."
