My roof is leaking badly. I have Solar City installed panels which need to come off before I can get my roof fixed. Tesla customer service is appallingly bad. It has been over two months of trying to arrange for them to remove my panels, and now I have to wait another month and a half for them to come remove the panels. They won't give you any info on how to speak to a HUMAN BEING. You just get put on hold by chat bots and AI. DO NOT USE TESLA! read more

We had panels installed by Solar City (now owned by Tesla) in 2014. They've worked well, but recently I noted that the system had been shut off at the inverter (which requires a human, so it did not shut itself down automatically). Checking the app (in late August) I noted the system had thrown errors in early July and flagged by the app. The most recent message was from 8/12 and said a "tech was on the way." We were never notified. Then, a few days later a brand new inverter was delivered with no instructions or other information. It wasn't until I reached out via their useless app, which is of course AI based and the only way of contacting them, that I managed to get through to a human who had no idea the system had been offline. Scheduling an appointment for the repair took hours. You'd think that a high-tech company with a $50B market cap would be more responsive, given that they know exactly how much power their system is generating, that ours had been producing nothing for two months during the summer, and that their system had recorded the inverter as having failed months ago. But they were totally unaware of the problem until I contacted them directly. I can't wait to be done with these people; their customer service is horrible. read more

I bought a house about a year ago , with a solar system. At time of the inspection a water stain was noted on the cieling of one of the rooms. Further inspection indicaated it was from the soloar panel installation (Solar City}. After finding all the paper work,I discovered it was now Testla Energy. In order to correct the problem, contact Testla. Once I was finally able to do so the service was unbelievable, contacting me with the timetable of when a service crew would come to evaluate the problem. They came when scheduled , evaluated the problem and a course of action to fix it. They did so in a timely manner. With a followup to the repair they were back in a flash. The whole process with Testla Sorlar Service was in a word "Fantastic " They were ,prompt, the crews were curtious and would highly recommend this company . read more

Our solar panels failed. Tesla came to replace them after they were off-line for nearly 8 months. During the replacement, something fell off the roof and shattered our glass patio table, damaged 2 patio cushions and an outdoor ottoman. All this was recorded on security camera video. After 7 months of attempting to receive compensation, Tesla insisted we provide the original purchase receipts. Those were not available, they decided our replacement value was $460.00. They would not reveal how they came to this amount and insisted it was fair. After telling them it was not accurate and would not cover the replacement, they insisted we send them an invoice showing what WE paid to replace the damaged items, without any promise that they would reimburse us for the full cost. Tesla's equipment didn't work for 8 months. They did not reimburse us for the lost solar energy (they were off line until August) then they broke our property, ignored our requests for reimbursement, then low-balled us and insisted we purchase the new furniture with no guarantee of their reimbursement. We have been Tesla owners since 2013, we have invested in them and this is the disregard they have for customers. They make promises that they will not honor, they are difficult to reach (by design) they are disrespectful and unconcerned with their customer's concerns and they provide shoddy repair services. read more

The price that Tesla offered was great and the installation went smoothly, everything else has been a nightmare. No communications from my project advisor during the initial design phase, had to call Tesla numerous times to get answers to questions. Once installed, it took Tesla four times over seven months to file the application to the utility company correctly. Once utility approval was granted, found out that there was an issue with the system. It's now been four months with several visits from Tesla and they've been unable to fix it. I've had the panels on my roof for over a year now and they've never fully worked. I started a ticket with Tesla's resolution dept only for them to find out the approved utility application had incorrect kW amount, with very little help otherwise so far. read more

We wanted to install solar panels and the tesla powerwalls for our home this year after looking through the cost and safety advantages. However, 6 months after placing the order, we ended up canceling the project. A few issues arose: 1. The site inspection resulted in a 2-month delay because the inspector flagged "bubbling" on the roof shingles. The roof is 3 years old on a newly built home. The previous day before the inspection we had a thunderstorm pass through. 2 months later they ok-ed the process to continue. 2. We waited for 2.5 months more because it turned out Tesla's scripts did not kick off correctly for MA applications. I called every two weeks to ask why the project hadn't moved forward and none of the advisors realized that they did not generate 8 additional documents for the state, the electric company in order to move the project forward. It was not until I was connected to an advisor from MA who noticed that I was missing those 8 documents. 3. A month later we finally have the installation teams on our property. Another problem, the powerwall team was not comfortable with installing the powerwalls in our unfinished basement. Apparently, around June 2021, MA inspection authorities passed a memo that regulated how much kWh storage one can have inside their home if it is non-fire rated. The max was 20kWh according to the copy of the memo that the powerwall supervisor provided me. So unless I was then going to reach out to a 3rd party contractor to help me make an officially permitted fireproof room (inspected by my city and approved), they could not install 2 powerwalls. Outside was the only choice, but then that same memo iterated that the powerwalls could not be installed within 3ft of any door or window. This eventually led to only one viable spot, the side of the house where our driveway was. This would involve cutting out some of our siding, installing gypsum board 3ft up and 3ft on either side to provide temporary fire resistance for up to an hour. Another problem, the powerwalls then need a concrete pad installed that can hold 600lbs. One more problem, the normal concrete masonry guy they use to do that kind of job was at another site for another install. The solar panel supervisor told me that his guys wouldn't be on our roof the whole day and won't be completing the job on that day because the weather temperatures were projected to hit 95F degrees. With an incomplete solar panel job, and needing the tesla folks to install a concrete pad, I decided that it was better to just reschedule the project. 4. Over a month later, no reschedule occurred because after going back and forth with Tesla on who would be responsible for the concrete pad installation, they decided that despite that the driveway was the only spot that can work; the powerwall supervisor telling me that their have a concrete pad guy; and that it was not going to be any extra cost to me because this was about finishing the job...Tesla said I have to be the one to contract a third party mason guy to do the concrete pad. It was supposedly "easier" and "cheaper" if I did this. Another problem, throughout this whole process, they never sent me a requested document on the specs that this concrete pad has to fall in line with. 5. Yesterday, after a 1.5 weeks of silence from Tesla after I asked via text message and email for the specs, I called again. The advisor sends me a screenshot of the specs. It was not a document, it was a screen capture of what is supposedly the correct specs. It also makes no mention of the siding that has to be replaced or the specs for the barrier that also needed to be installed to project the powerwalls from a car. The most frustrating part of this whole process has been the fact that Tesla's advisory team members, except for the one from Marlboro MA, failed to notice the missing documents for MA and the electric company. If it was caught, I would not have wait 2.5 months, which may have just helped me skirt the quasi-memo from the MA inspections. Other solar installers who are from MA are aware of this memo and according to them, it depends on how the local town/city inspection services want to comply. It would have just required the installers to contact the local inspectors and determine how they would inspect and what would pass or fail. Instead, Tesla wanted me, a non-electrician or licensed electrical contractor to do the legwork and logistics for them. Tesla does beat the competition with their pricing comparatively, but this does not factor in their unfamiliarity with non-western and non-southern state codes and regulations. They have an attractive product for what is a low price, but once some sort of complication or X factor comes up, the whole project can derail at the turn of a dime, and ultimately the blame is placed on the customer. read more

The are with you during initial installation, but ANY TYPE of follow up is non-existent. They take your money and run. My solar system warranty transferred to Tesla when SolarCity sold to Tesla. I assumed I'd be treated like a first class citizen for the duration of my warranty. I mean, they're a $54 billion dollar company, so they can afford to go the extra mile for their customers... right? However, when our roof needed replacing I contacted them five weeks in advance and they agreed to remove the panels and replace them after the roofing work was done. They sent me paperwork which I signed, and imposed a fee for the service which I agreed to. Shortly before the roofing is to begin they have not contacted me as promised to schedule their work, so I follow up with them. They announce that on further review they won't do the work. I'm now facing a costly cancellation of the roofing job on short notice. Their suggestion is that I contact a third party to do the removal; I contact the company they suggest and they tell me they don't operate anywhere near my area. We all know the feeling when someone does not have your back. That's what you have in store for yourself with SolarCity/Tesla. read more

The start of this review I've been on hold for 42 minutes. I'm averaging 1-1.5 hour wait just to speak to a human. So glad I'm being treated like a king here. I recently purchased a house with Tesla panels on lease. The agent assigned to do their job NEVER picks up, NEVER calls back, NEVER emails me or replies to my emails. Every time I deal with a new person and they always say my agent is "not in today" or hasn't arrived. Mind you I called at 1pm in the afternoon. Where is this agent???? When does her work day start??? My roof leaks when it rains and I'm trying to get a specialist out here to remove the panels so I can get the roof repaired (it's old). I called 2 weeks ago and they said they'd call me back 5 days from that call. I call back and they said the panels are still under the previous owners name and can't move forward with repairs until they get the closing contract which I sent AND signed a ton of Tesla documents saying that I will take ownership of the panels. My roof continues to leak while these goof balls NEVER pick up the phone and do their job. Working at home must be tough for them. I will NEVER own solar panels again. By the way, I'm STILL on hold and it's now 50 minutes. I had enough time to write a review AFTER being on hold for 42 minutes and still no help. Just to give you an idea of how long my wait time is. I am going with solar city for a PPA. I can tell you that the company is trying to grow so fast that not all employees are good. This happens all the time it is hard to find good people with their pay structure. However they are the most forward looking solar company. Are they perfect? No of course not. They have way too many rookies on staff and too many clients to handle. Is their commission or the way they pay salaries necessary? No, but to managers it appears that way. If I was running the show I would focus more on a Disney type experience. Here are a few things to keep in mind with the program I going for a PPA: 1. You pay for energy PRODUCED!!! This is very important. Let's take May as an example, you might only pay now $50 a month in May. However if it is sunny in May you may produce 1000kWatts at a PPA rate of .12 cents per kWatt that would be $120 bill. And maybe another $20 to your electrical company. So in the end in May you will actually pay more, but build up a credit for the winter months or a rainy day. In the end your bill actually BE MORE than double so if you have cash flow issues stay away, this I felt was not communicated by the salesman. I happened to not have cash flow issues, but people getting this might be looking to up their cash flow as I read review after review on other sites. This company only saves you over all not on a month by month basis like some people live. This is why people get so pissed on reviews. This and rookies doing shady work. 2. If you have cash flow issues DO NOT sign up for this!!! 3. If you get your panels installed in April your May bill will be really high and if you can't pay this maybe 2x what you can pay now STAY AWAY!!! 4. In the end you will save $500-700 a year but at a 1 year full cycle year. You WILL NOT save every month. Solar city's biggest pit fall is that they say that you will save money and they make it seem like right away. Well if we had batteries hooked up like the Tesla battery then yeah they would save the over production. But without batteries your Solar city bill will be really high in sunny months and nothing in cloudy days. Brings a whole new meaning to saving for a rainy day literally. Since the system contains no batteries then at night you will always have a utility bill hopefully offset by credits from producing during the day. Conclusion: IF YOU HAVE ANY CASH FLOW ISSUES DO NOT SIGN Up!!! It will be more expensive some months. The other mayor risk is dealing with rookies and workers that don't have much experience or don't care about their work because they will never see you again. This is a risk I am willing to take to go Green. Bottom line cash flow issues stay away these systems can produce a lot more than promised and you might get stuck with a very big bill. read more

I have been with Solarcity for almost 4 years now and I thought the deception at the begining was bad. That was just the beginning first, so everyone is clear the roof warranty does not protect you at all. I had a leak they denied the claim , after some back and forth I just wanted it fixed. So I hired 3 roof cos to come look , they say there is such poor design and a bad sag due to IMPROPER INSTALL so they can't reroof. Solarcity now has there insurance involved , after threr plus months of trying to get the rep hear , he shows the day the insurance engineer is here and are talking like buddies , not very unbiased , im told it doesn't meet snowload standards but insurance guy asked what damage have I incurred. WILL IT REALLY REQUIRE SOMEONE GETTING HURT OR MY ROOF TO HAVE IN TO GET A STRUCTUALLY SOUND ROOF AND A CORRECT INSTALL. Thank god I have sent 3 other family members to SUNPOWER the company with the most efficient panels and with my mother in law they had her do a bunch of work at almost a 70% discount to ensure panels would be good for 20 years which is the agreement term and they dont require some one getting hurt , with there recently announce best customer warranty and service if only I new I was making a deal with the devil. The rep my fiancé and I met at Home Depot seemed very nice and knowledgeable. So did the guy they sent out to explain the details and sign forms. The guy who came to look at the rafters and shingles was nice, too. TOO BAD WE GOT TURNED DOWN DUE TO OUR ASBESTOS SIDING!!!! Seriously, we knew this about our home, and I have no idea why we were not asked this up front. I have filed a complaint against SolarCity with the state of Massachusetts because their sales practice is deceptive (they lie). They are the new "Tin Men". I understood their PPA revenue model and the reasons why the install is free my problem with them was very early. I was asked for my signature onto a computer tablet to authorize the energy audit only. That signature turned out to be more than an audit, it was also a 20 year service agreement. I found that out through the attachment included in an email. The sales person lied right to my face when he handed me the tablet computer with a page only showing a signature line. Per state law I had 3 business days to cancel and I could have cancelled after the audit as well. I choose to cancel immediately because I can't do business with any firm that lies. The sales rep called me back to apologize and to reconsider. He told me I wasn't the first to be upset in fact he doesn't like the way that SolarCity deceives people but as he said "that's the way they make us do it ". Buddy if you really have a problem with their ethics then get another job. He also told me I could cancel anytime before installation which is NOT what their contract states. Clearly they are trained to tell you what they think you want to hear. Personally if they didn't lie I still would never agree to a 20 year PPA at that rate per kWh with 2.5% annual increase. No one is taking over my roof for 20 years with the technology today. And if it is from China as others note it is probably crap. Sure they own and maintain it but what am I losing in efficiency? I never knowingly gave permission for this Company to call me, and have hung up on them twice, as well as receiving on voice mail. They are apparently using an auto dialer, as my name is not used when they call. The use of an auto dialer is usually illegal, but may be limited to use when dialing sequentially. I am not a homeowner currently, and am not a candidate for a Residential Solar System. What I do know is that the calls are harassing to me, and harassment of me a Senior Citizen, is a Felony. The voice was the same each time. Now, to file a Citizen's Criminal Complaint, I need the man's name, or permission from the court to make a legal demand of same. Really not interested in doing that, so just thought I would provide this consumer feedback and share it as the company is doing no less than AGGRESSIVE MARKETING. I tried to engage solar city to receive two items. One to understand how their most popular product works, and the other to have a quote on solar installed with no financing. I heard bad things about solar companies in advance that they keep all the profit, and customers are ripped off, but was going to try. I filled out their form on the website, and they called me back within 10 minutes! Setup an appointment. A "sales rep"called my last night, and the purpose of the call seemed to be get my credit rating score or run a credit check on me. I repeated several times "I just want a quote, you don't need a credit report." He wasn't listening to me. After another 2 minutes of the same stuff I hung up on him. I don't know how many of you have been to time share sales meetings, but this sounds EXACTLY LIKE THAT. Push Push Push Push Push Push Push. I spoke with a Solar City sales person at a recent trade show and found their program to be predatory. Here's how the operate; They offer a no cost solar installation on your home and in turn you pay Solar City for the electricity it produces for 20 years. How do they install solar on your roof for free you may ask...... They get a bunch of government tax credits to install the system which in turn lowers you monthly electrical costs. The sticking point for me was where your USA tax dollars go. CHINA!!! Solar City only uses Chinese equipment, so your tax dollars are literally shipped directly to China. There are several US manufacturers with better equipment at a comparable cost. They also don't allow you to own the system either and actually told me owning the system was a mistake because the state incentive is too risky. I should note that SC is happy to take this "risky" incentive. Lastly, their installation quality is terrible. I looked at dozens of installation companies and found SC to be by far the worst! read more

Finally, 6 months after install and activation, my system is producing at full capacity. Happy to be generating effectively, though still very disappointed in how difficult and time-consuming it has been to get SC to acknowledge and fix the continuing issues. The interaction with these people was below mediocre. First we started looking into the lease the roof and fix your energy bill rate, but quickly learned, after reading their contract, that Solar City (as well as with NRG, Vivint and other companies that ofer this lease option) will be getting ALL the money from the federal tax rebates, state programs and the SREC bonds; if you don't have the money to buy your solar array or cannot get a credit to finance it, this might be your only solution. This wasn't an issue if you were willing to accept their conditions, they are in business to make money and they are not a charity or are doing this for the good of the planet either, we understand that. The big issue was the demeanor of the customer representative from their central office in Las Vegas, NV named Cristina. We get better customer service from the guy who pumps our septic system! My wife who is very patient lost it with her condescending treatment and borderline rudeness. Every question we had about the contract or details about instalation, warranties, etc. was answered with a dismissive, at times scripted and unprofessional non sense "Sweetie let me explain you how solar works...", "Do you understand we are better than NRG and any other company?", " you know we are the leader in Solar, Elon Musk is on our board and his cousing is our CEO..." Good information for a trivia night at the local pub but far from the answers we wanted and needed. We called their HQ requesting another customer representative. At this point we were considering buying the Solar arrays. We got a couple of phone calls after 10 pm at night or at 8 in the morning, very inconvinient times and when we kindly requested to be called during normal hours they just stop calling back, so we finally went with a different company (Direct Energy Solar) and and bougth a 12Kwh solar Array. As a side note The people at NRG were great but not what we needed. We finally decided to go with Direct Energy Solar because of their competitive prices, superb customer service and their 120 day guaranteed installation (if they miss the date, they pay you for energy not generated). We also wanted to go with PV2 (PV Squared) a local fantastic coop in the Pioneer Valley but we were told that they will be installing our system by the end of fall 2015 missing all the sunny days, the energy savings and the money in SREC for this year. read more

I was called by Solarcity and asked if I was interested if I wanted to have a representative come over for a quote. I said "No. I wasn't interested" Then I thanked them and hung up. That was about 2 months ago. Since then they have called my house about 2 times a week asking when I want to schedule my consultation. I have explained over and over that I did not ask for a consultation, that I am not interested and I want them to stop calling my house. Yet, they continue to call my house. The last call the representative was very aggressive and he was badgering me to make an appointment. Seriously? I felt so uncomfortable. I am starting to feel harassed and I am way beyond annoyed. I feel that a quality trustworthy company would not have to use such gorilla tactics to get new customers. read more

Hello, My home is equiped with solar city panels which has been recently aquired by Tesla. My system recently had a breakdown an my unit is not producing any more solar energy. After a couple of calls to Tesla service I have been scheduled for the soonest maintenance available which is ... in almost 2 months from now !! Appointment scheduled for 9/18 on 7/26... Just inacceptable ! Summer time is the peak period for solar energy and my unit is down and nobody is available for maintenance. I don't recommend Tesla at all for their reactivity in case of breakdown. Anyone looking for solar energy should consider maintenance service capabilities of the selected company. After a very ROUGH start, we were back on track, the gentleman called us and we were back to where we were suppose to be before this mess happened, And then everything else went smoothly. They kept us informed, The guys installing the panels were very professional 36 panels installed in less than 3 hours. I did have a problem the 2 days of service ( no production) but they alerted us that there was a problem and walked us through the process of getting it fixed. I couldn't believe I could get solar free of charge. After talking with him for an hour I signed up. The panels were installed in May. I have been saving even more money than Taylor promised me. The quality and professionalism of the installers was top notch. I am so happy with solar city. Everyone involved has gone above and beyond to please me! I have been with Solar City for a little over two years now. I will say the teams in the field that are working on the panels are very good. But I can not say the same for the people you have to call if you have a problem. We have had a few problems lately and when calling them be prepared to be on hold for at least an hour only to have them tell you that they will call you back in 24 to 48 hours. Which by the way does not happen. We have had two leaks and need our roof replaced but trying to get thru to them to schedule the panels taken off is absolutely crazy. Today I was put on hold for an hour than put back on hold for 25 min only to be told they would call me back in 48 to 72 hour mean while we still have the leak in our roof. I have rarely been so impressed with a company. I've always wanted to go green but I wanted to know all the info possible about solar panels before making the switch. After the usual internet research I gave SolarCity a call to see if they could really make it happen that easily. I was intrigued by the thought of no upfront cost, lower monthly electricity bills and the whole going green thing. I was sure there would be a catch somewhere. There were the usual visits where they came over to the house, made drawings, calculations, explained the different financing options, etc. And after all my questions were answered, the decision way pretty easy. I had the system installed in March of 2014 and WOW...am I impressed. After the panels were built, in a day an entire professional team came in and installed the whole system: panels, wiring, inverters in the basement, etc. It looks great. Seriously. I was ready to have to make do with some panels above our garage for the sake of saving all that money - but in the end it made the house look great! In terms of savings it was as clean as you can get. I used to pay ~$200 per month for electricity + ~$3,000 in propane (talk about companies which I hate btw...) and now all that was reduced to $104 per month. Boom! No questions asked, just a quick $4,200 extra in my pocket every year. What's not to love?! I then went further and switched my gas dryer to electric, switched my gas stove to electric, switched my gas water heater to electric and installed a heat pump using my current furnace so that my entire house is now heated by electricity. Awesome!! All the improvements cost me $7,600 - most which I put on a HEAT loan at 0%. It pays for itself within a year and a half. Then it's $4,200 per year for me. No brainer. I was reading the other reviews below who gave it a 1 star without even having the system installed. Seriously...shame on you. If you don't want to let someone run your credit or come visit you so that you get information and understand something before judging then you may need to spend a little time putting life into perspective. Anyway...back to SolarCity. They have a communication system that let's you know exactly at what stage you are in the installation, you get regular emails and really solid people contacting you to get more info, book a time to come over and take the necessary pictures, measurements, etc. so there are no surprises and you know what's going on all the time. I got fantastic service throughout and worked with great people. Do your research and then call them. Once we decided to go solar - we got quotes from various companies - with Solar City being one of them. From the start it was clear that they had way too much going on and every department was overwhelmed. Communication was spotty at best and information was not being communicated across departments. Some staff for e.g. the home inspector who cam to survey our roof were clearly very green and I had to tell them how to do their jobs (which was not good because I'm not an expert by any means) Finally after many months of trying to get the project started - I gave up on SolarCity and cancelled our contract. I hope they resolve their staffing challenges - but I am happy I went with another provider who has been nothing short of brilliant from start to finish. read more

It was very difficult to talk with sales person at Solar City and he didn't have a handle on how things work when your panels don't produce as much as you consume in winter months with the lease/ppa option. They also made us do a credit check before they would come to the house to see if we met their requirements and in the end they rejected our roof as they said there was not enough pitch. Each request for your credit score lowers your credit score so they should wait to do that until they confirm your roof meets their requirements. Ended up going to Revolusun which was much easier to talk to, didn't do a credit check until they inspected our property and had no problem with a lower pitched roof. Revolusun also took the time to explain all the options including lease vs. buy and I realized we are much better off with a solar loan vs. a lease/ppa as you save much more money. I think the warranties were also better with Revolusun and the products are higher quality. Direct Energy was another good option but I choose Revolusun do to some poor reviews on service with Direct Energy. Summary is don't bother with Solar City unless you have plenty of free time to meet their schedules, deal with a long sales pitch and have a perfect roof for solar - South facing, no trees, pitch not too high or too low, etc. read more

I would highly recommend SolarCity to anyone that wants to save serious money and our environment. Their forward thinking business model has spurned a solar explosion and our checkbooks and environment will be well served going forward. They use all their own in house installers, electricians, and engineers unlike many other solar electricity firms out there and I found the whole team from sales to survey to installation awesome to deal with. This is an update to my last one star rating for Solar City tech support. After a prolonged wait and many emails to Solar city, the inverter that was ordered has finally arrived from Solar Edge who is the inverter manufacture and supplier. It appears that the delay in shipping was due to Solar Edge. I finally spoke with the Customer Service Manager for Solar City who was very helpful. We will have the inverter installed today 8/15. My suggestion to the company is have Solar Edge supply stock backup inverters in the future which they apparently do not done at this time. I am giving the Customer Service Manager, Marlina, 4 stars for her help. I can't go 5 stars due to all the time in emails and calls I had to make to get to her. So, until Solar City straightens out their supplier, Solar Edge, then extended waiting for parts and replacement will continue. read more

This company has some super-aggressive sales people. They were recently in my neighborhood installing solar panels on a nearby home and came to my front door two different times over three days soliciting their services. Of course they completely ignored the "No Soliciting" sign on the door. The first time around the guy actually stood there for about 30 seconds trying to "overcome my objections" after I told him repeatedly I wasn't interested; I closed the door in his face mid-spiel. The second time I didn't even bother coming to the door. A few more days went by and then the phone calls started, leaving messages stating that they recently installed solar panels on a nearby home and wanted us to call to get more information and a quote. We received at least two of those messages. I simply reported them to the FTC because my telephone number is registered with the Do Not Call Registry. There's a right way and a wrong way to go about selling - and this company's way is totally wrong in my opinion. Just based upon their sales tactics alone I would never do business with this company. read more

The concept of solar energy is great. However, this company is not. They have failed at every step in the process. The scheduling was a nightmare then the installation failed the electrical inspection. I had to have the utility company contact them to send over paperwork four weeks after the install. I was then told that there must have been a miscommunication on my end after my "solar conceirge" told me to "have a better day" when I called to ask why noone would respond. I believe they have grown too quickly and are just throwing things at the wall at this point. The individual customer does not matter it is all about volume. There are several other choices in the market and I would recommend going with one of them. Poor customer service at every turn. read more

I like how much solarCity promotes solar through there advertising and being in retail stores. I'm sure it helps the whole industry. As I was comparing companies for my Solar instillation I gave them a call. They were quick to speak to me. Of all the companies I spoke to the SolarCity rep was the worst. He spent lots of time repeating how great they were because Telsa now owns them. Telling me how great it would be that they would soon be making there own panels. Pretty much talking about anything except solar. I did eventually get a quote. The odd thing about the quote was SolarCity suggested putting panels on the north side of my house instead of just the south side. No other company suggested that. The SolarCity quote provide the lowest percent of electricity from solar. The rep was unable to answer questions I had about solar. I had become very informed by visiting a web site called Energysage and speaking to other companies. The rep was very pushy to get me to sign a contract. They were the only company that said sign before they would come out to the house. ( They did say I could back out after they visited). He called me to follow up. Same speech about how great they were. Told him I was going in another direction and thanked him for his time. Sure enough he immediately called back. I didn't take the call and blocked his number on my phone. Then I received an idiotic email from the rep. Consumers need to be educated about solar and it seems the local companies do a better job. I think solar will become better with Telsa involvement despite my poor experience with their rep. read more
