This place has been around for decades. It's changed hands many times, as well as been revamped as far as decor. They have manage to keep the same coffee shop style menu. The most recent owners being Korean have added some of their native dishes, which are very good. They have indoor, outdoor seating. Service is very good, it's family owned and run. I've never had a bad meal there, the only negative, which I found very annoying is that they don't allow you to use the restroom. They get around it by saying it's broken. Always! For any restaurant in Beverly Hills not to let a customer use the restroom I find to be really obnoxious. So you have to go into a neighboring restroom if you want to even wash your hands before eating. It was enough for me to think twice before eating in the restaurant again. To go, seems to be the best option for me at that restaurant. The food is really good. read more

Cute little coffee shop right off rodeo drive. The staff here qas really nice and friendly. We got a smile upon entry...woah! They have an extensive menu of food items along with standard baked fare. We popped in for a quick drink grab before heading out to face the streets of LA again. They have Dalgona coffee, which I've never seen at a coffee shop before. Very nice convenient coffee shop. They have a variety of American breakfast and coffees. They also offer burritos and tostadas. I ordered the delicious avocado toast. It came with a green salad. I also ordered some drinks for my company. They were not hungry so they just ask for that. The service was fast. I ordered at the counter and I went to seat down. They brought me the drinks right away and the toast right after. My food had plenty of avocado with some basil and chia. It was very satisfying. The salad had a little sweet tangy dressing. Breakfast in Beverly Hills is always amazing. My favorite item on the menu is the lemon ricotta pancakes. Oh my goodness, what a delicious treat. I don't really like writing bad reviews, it's really seldom of me to do so. But the way I was treated at this coffee shop was like insane. It's the craziest, rudest experience I ever had. I was waiting for my friend to meet up for coffee after our workout class. She had a few errands to run before hand, so I was waiting for 15 ish minutes? I got there between 11:50 and 12:00. At around 12:05, a guy (who works there) asks me to "get up and leave" twice in a very hostile, rude tone as he assumed that I was loitering??? I was really caught off guard as this is the first coffee place that's ever treated me this way. And I'm also not loitering?? Then, I explained that I was waiting for a friend and that I had just arrived and we would order when we are ready. He went inside, got a menu, and slammed it down on the table outside. I would maybe be more understanding if I was taking up a seat, and the place was packed and I hadn't ordered yet. BUT IT WAS EMPTY THOUGH. I literally took a picture of it, just to show. There was no one outside besides me. No wonder why!! This place has horrible customer service skills. Anyways, I was minding my own business and wasn't bothering anyone. They could've also asked me if I was ordering instead of assuming. Absolutely unprofessional, and a quick way to loose service. I left immediately. Because I'm not giving my money to someone who speaks to someone like that. I got coffee at Alfred's instead. Their coffee is better anyways. It's been 10 years since I was here. Little bit disappointing. I remembered it as a little coffee shop where you could sit down and enjoy a meal. Now it is post-covid with bare tables, no condiments or anything else on the tables. People come in mostly to get take away. Those who eat there sit at bare tables, scarf it down, and leave. I got a tuna melt which was a C at the most. The tuna didn't seem high quality, the cheese was barely noticed and they probably would have grilled it in canola oil if I hadn't asked for butter. There wasn't enough condiment in the tuna salad to make it tasty. The crinkly fries were real potatoes so they had a good flavor, but they were undercooked and not crispy. Guess it's a convenient low-end place for people zipping through BevHills or construction workers to get a quick meal but it doesn't merit a special trip. I will have to say that I'm glad this place is still here after all these years because it's so iconic. But I'm pretty sure it has changed ownership and doesn't have the same great Americana touch that it used to. read more

I went with the Beef Bulgogi ($14.99) but they also had an option for spicy pork. Thin iced of beef marinated in soy-ginger sauce, Korean style, grilled with mushroom and onion, served with teriyaki sauce, cabbage salad, sesame seed, and white rice. I loved the white rice & savory beef, and it hit the spot perfectly. For Rodeo Drive, this was an extremely delicious & reasonable offering. They have both indoor & outdoor seating, and the indoor area is really cute, with soft blues, white marble, large windows, & gold accents. I've had my fair share of floral-flavored lattes so was I expecting the artificial taste, but this was a little too much and I couldn't finish the drink. I've been here twice including right before the pandemic, and last week. They have made their shop more attractive and inviting. Love the new look, which makes the seating more comfortable and the whole place feel more spacious. There's also (as before) outside seating. BCS is the perfect place sometimes. Maybe not always, but sometimes, it's just the thing. You might need excellent parking karma for one thing. But once in, their menu gives much to ponder. Came super close to getting the lemon ricotta pancakes and next time, I'll not hesitate. The salmon benedict looked good and got a thumbs up from my table. Likewise, the Spanish Omellete. This comes with avocado, potatoes, and toast. The Scramble featured ham and veggies and cheddar cheese. I asked them to go easy on the cheese, and they went so easy, I couldn't find much there. The Scramble was fine, though not a repeat. (Note: the potatoes are built-in). The toast was pretty good, though I would have liked more jam. The coffee just was not OK. I tried a few sips and kept thinking it's fine, it's just diner coffee. But in fact, it really tasted soapy. Our server removed it from the table, then removed it from our tab. This place has a handful of regulars who breeze in and take over the place at lunch. If you are not one of these regulars and the waitstaff doesn't already know you by name, do yourself a favor and go someplace else. TL;dr I love the Brighton Coffee Shop. A couple of months ago, a family friend called to let me know that The Brighton Coffee Shop had closed. My heart broke. We'd been coming here for lunch for about the past... I wanna say 20 years. We never went anywhere else. It was our spot. But he called a few days ago, practically elated, to let me know it had reopened, that they'd just been closed for remodeling! My heart mended. I returned today for the first time since the pandemic began, and I'm still melting with relief. The Brighton is a unique feature of Beverly Hills, right on the SW corner of Brighton Way and Camden. In some ways it's as close as you can get to a sidewalk café in Paris. Other coffee shops in the area have sidewalk seating, but it's usually enclosed, not right on the sidewalk. You're directly connected to the neighborhood, here. Nonstop foot traffic, which means nonstop people-watching, and it's a smorgasbord: tourists from every corner of the world, all dressed like they think you're supposed dress to blend in in BH, which can get ridiculous or be stunningly gorgeous; lawyers and other suits being important at each other; studio people impressing or intimidating each other, loudly going on about this show concept or that show runner and the studio higher-ups; the studio higher-ups themselves; medical techs in every color of the scrubs rainbow; and actual locals, often with their (mostly tiny, fluffy) dogs, not uncommonly with leopard print tops and Zsa Zsa's sunglasses. And there's the other kind of people watching here: the tour vans and busses driving north on Camden seem to go by every five seconds. When they stop for the light at Brighton, they *will* stare at you and try to figure out whether you're famous. Stare back. Let them wonder. You can be a tourist watching the tourists while feeling like a local. The traffic can get LOUD--there are plenty of new- and old-money kids revving their Bugatti and Ferrari engines because... cool? But it isn't like "CHRIST it's noisy here!" More like "pause the conversation and hold for the idiots," much more hilarious than annoying. The group of obnoxious kids walking by, probably coming from Beverly (Hills high school), will soon develop through the pupa stage and eventually emerge from their cocoons, likely to become said idiots and/or suits. It just hit me that a few decades ago, I was one of them! The place has been here since forever. [No, I never did the Bugatti or suit thing; I can only hope the idiot has worn off.] And the languages! It's like the UN is around the corner. French and Russian at the other tables when I arrived, Mandarin and Farsi when I left. All of these people and languages pass by, wafting about 45 seconds of their lives over you, growing in volume then doppler-shifting away; half the time it's half a conversation with a pair of earbuds. People bump into each other on the sidewalk or yell "hi!" from their cars and promise to get together soon, almost as often as the tourist vans passing through. And more often than not, you'll get treated to something offbeat: today, a guy in his late 60s, covered in (probably) actual diamond studs--from the watch to the earring to the necklaces--leaning out the window of his white Rolls, trying to get the ladies at the table next to me to go to Vegas with them "right now! I'm serious!" with a very Old New York accent. Ridiculous, but delightful. And yet, with all this happening, there's something really homey about the place. It was a lot homier on the inside before the remodeling, lots of old wood and brass fittings. I can't lie, I'll miss that. You'll see in the photos, the place did lose a lot of its charm. But I rarely ate inside because man, it was CRAMPED in there! The real joy of the place is on the sidewalk. The inside has fewer tables now, so there's actually room to breathe. Everything's new and clean, but it still has charm. It can't not because it is where it is. It will develop more character over time. I think what makes it continue to feel homey is the staff. Always friendly and professional. A lovely woman named Sarah has owned the place for about the past ten years--a total sweetheart. Talia served me today; she's new, but instantly made me feel like we'd known each other for years. I was there for a while, and another new server, Daniel, also really pleasant, filled me in on a few of the details of what's changed since the remodeling. I almost forgot to mention the food. It's the cherry on top! Always good. All of it. If you haven't had the meatloaf here, you haven't lived. There was a fantastic breeze today as the lunch hour drifted into closing time, and the large oak on Camden, wrapped in tiny Christmas lights year-round, dropped tiny leaves (mostly) on the awning covering the tables, and it was... just great. Really great. I count myself lucky for having had the day off. And that the Brighton is back. read more
