So basic for $10! Not worth it
    Breanna M.

They nickel and dime for everything! It's extremely frustrating when they decide they want to charge you extra for something just because. I asked for grilled onions and was told I would be charged for them to grill the onions but if I got them raw then they wouldn't charge me, please make it make sense. They try to say that it's like that everywhere but never have I been charged to just grill the onions that's ridiculous and unheard of! It's worse because we work in the building and order form them all time but I am so tired of them. Sometimes they charge for things and sometimes they don't so make sure you ask otherwise you'll be taken advantage of!

Asian chicken wrap without chicken - vegetarian option
    Meera K.

Grabbed a quick lunch here while working in the building! They were so accommodating for vegetarian options! I ordered the Asian chicken wrap without chicken and it was filled with greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, crispy noodles and a sesame dressing. If you generally like sesame dressing I recommend asking for extra as it felt a little dry. The wrap is also really big so I thought pricing was reasonable. They also have order ahead as an option.

This cafe is 5 stars because not only do they serve delicious food but their daily specials are amazing. Ask to be added to their email list so you can order ahead of time. Everything has been pretty amazing. Definitely look out for any specials and it's not on the menu they can pretty much make a custom order. I order ahead of time and if I'm late, they warm it up for me

Exceptionally slow service. It's encouraged to order 25mins ahead of time. Constant fruit flies. Never fully stocked. No water.

Drinks: We've tried the Strawberry Matcha, Black Sesame Latte, Corn Latte, Mango Sticky Rice Cream Tea, and Green Matcha Cream Top. A lot of cafes may do matcha, coffee, or tea particularly well, but Series A is one of the few spots where I think they excel at all three. My personal favorites are the Corn Latte and Mango Sticky Rice Cream Tea. Service: They push out orders really fast, even when the cafe is busy. Seating: There's a good amount of seating inside, but it's almost always full. A lot of people come here to study, so tables don't necessarily open up quickly. There are also quite a few solo customers at the larger tables, so you may have to wait around a little for a spot. Parking: The parking lot is small but actually a decent size for LA. It's usually packed, but people are constantly coming and going, so we've been able to find an opening. Series A is easily one of my favorite cafes in LA. Between the variety and how consistently good the drinks are, there's always something worth coming back for.

Love the branding and the attention to detail at the store. The staff were super friendly and the vibe inside is nice but there isn't a ton of seating inside. Dear Maru Espresso Bar Team, I'm writing because I had a very disappointing experience at Maru on 9/23/26 especially as someone who has been a loyal customer and goes out of my way to purchase your coffee despite not even being a coffee drinker. Maru's Cream Top is actually the only coffee I drink. Because I start work very early--before Maru opens--I have developed a routine of coming in the day before, purchasing two Cream Tops, having them made without ice and with heavy cream, taking them home, refrigerating them overnight, and bringing them with me to work the following morning. It is extremely inconvenient for me to have to make a special trip before 5 p.m., carry two drinks home, and plan around your hours, but I do it because I genuinely love the coffee. Over the past few days, however, I have had several frustrating interactions with the staff regarding this very simple request. Two days ago, I went in after work and was told by the young woman taking my order that the Cream Top could not be made without ice. Yesterday, I was unable to come in because I got off work too late. Today, I stopped by during lunchtime and ordered my coffee with ice because I was drinking it immediately, and I also purchased a pastry. Later, after work, I returned specifically to purchase two Cream Tops to take home for the next morning. I again asked for them without ice. I was told no. I even asked in Korean after seeing Korean-speaking staff, trying to explain exactly why I needed them without ice. Despite explaining the situation, I continued to receive pushback rather than any effort to accommodate a longtime customer. Because I had to transport the drinks home, I also asked for a coffee carrier that would securely hold the drinks. The employee gave me a different type of tray. I specifically asked if he could give me the carrier that more securely holds the cups because, as I explained to all three employees, I had to take the drinks home and was concerned about them spilling. I was told that you had run out and that this was the only carrier available. Unfortunately, the result was exactly what I had been trying to prevent. There was an excessive amount of ice, and somehow the drinks melted and spilled all over the bag I was carrying them in. I have never had a coffee spill all over my bag like this before. What was most upsetting was not simply that the drinks spilled. It was the overall attitude and lack of willingness to help. I understand that businesses have policies and that there may be operational reasons for certain things, but the way a reasonable customer request is communicated matters. I was not asking for anything complicated or unreasonable. I was simply trying to purchase the same coffee I regularly buy in a way that allows me to safely take it home and drink it the next morning. I really love Maru's coffee, which is why I continue to make the effort to come back despite the inconvenience. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and speak with the team about customer service, communication, and finding reasonable solutions for customers rather than simply pushing back on requests. I would appreciate hearing from someone regarding this experience, particularly because I would like to continue being a Maru customer but do not want to have another experience like this.

It's so refreshing & the perfect amount of sweetness, not overly sugary at all. The coconut, mango, & sago all pair so well together & I love how fresh this tasted, like you could really taste real fruit & not just syrup. They also have mango & coconut jelly in it, which was delicious & added such a nice chew. All the textures in the drink are so fun too, it honestly feels like a dance party in your mouth in the best way, from the sago to the jelly to the slush itself. The mango is also so sweet & ripe, & the portion size is huge. This drink has gone super viral & I can definitely see why. This place normally has a very long line, sometimes the wait can be 45 minutes, especially if you go during peak hours. I'd suggest ordering ahead, they have a HeyTea app which is so helpful for that. The location itself is really nice though, I like to walk around Rodeo while I wait for my order. This was actually their first West Coast location in the US too, so it makes sense why it's been so packed. Instagram: @hungrytamale

Anyway, since we work down the street, we decided to go back when the boba was ready and get a few drinks. Our order consisted of the loud matcha latte, a match cheese milk tea, and a supreme brown sugar boba, which was my order. Overall, it wasn't the best milk tea boba I had but the boba's were very warm and soft. It was a hot day and I noticed my drink was a little warm too. I was going to add more ice to my drink because there wasn't very much ice in it. It was also creamy with some froth or something. It wasn't bad but it was a little different than what I am used to and I go to a lot of boba spots. I will probably go back to try their fruit teas but the milk teas were a little unusual to me. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was so kind, patient and made us feel special. The live harpist and the wide variety of teas stood out. They seated us right away for our reservation. My mom and I love high tea. We try a new place about twice a year. This place is stunning. The food is okay. I appreciated that my mom and I each had our own stand since most places do two of everything and place on one stand. The tea was good. It is a bit pricey - $135 per person for afternoon tea, an additional $65 per person for unlimited champagne. My mom & I both had the afternoon tea, she treated herself with the unlimited champagne and a $24 caviar bite which was so small, I would consider it half a bite. It was still worth a cute picture and my mom said it was delicious. The tip was included in our bill and was a little over $400. The servers are attentive and checked up on us often. I will say there is limited seating and although it is comfortable, it is a bit awkward. I would come back here for the aesthetics and look however as for food and traditional high tea, most likely not.
