This is a roadside attraction right along Highway 50. It's a waterfall-ish stream of water trickling out of the top crevice of the granite mountainside. In the Spring, after the winter snowmelt, this is flowing pretty steadily. A few weeks ago in early July, I stopped on by. It had a nice stream flowing, enough to be noticeable and make a worthwhile selfie. There is a paved cutout. But this section of Highway 50 is super busy and more so on the weekend. So stay alert when turning into the cutout. It's advised to keep your kiddos in check and not let them run amok in the cutout. It's a nice little spot to get out of the car to stretch your legs and take in the sight. Gawk and admire the scenery. FYI: There is a day use Bridal Veil picnic area off the freeway not far from here. The exit is on the left if you're headed westward on Highway 50. The picnic area is along the South Fork of the American River with access. I think the day use fee is $10.

The falls are beautiful but not to huge this time of year. Stop in and take a picture and enjoy this little waterfall off Highway 50

7/19/2020: I took my Motion Picture Film Mentor, Tiana S. to Bridal Veils Falls in order, cooling off from the staggering heatwave and more importantly, stopping Tiana from fiddling with my house's SOLAR HVAC temperature (which I purposefully locked deterring Tiana from constantly manipulating the solar panel's temperature thermostat~grrrrr!) controller! Still, the weather's temperatures were egregiously oppressive . . . ESCAPE OUT DA DOOR STAT!!!! Moreover, my Mentor, Tiana was constantly complaining how hot the weather has been yet, she complained how cold my house's A/C was making her feel so frigidly cold: It's time shutting down Tiana's complaints and taking her where the American River's river water is beyond frigidly freezing, i.e., 45° Fahrenheit and alarmingly, decreasing H2O temperatures; surely American River's H2O temperatures will shut her up! Ironically, Tiana dove right into the freezing water without no complaints whatsoever~WTH!!!!! My eye rolls incessantly ensued . . . OY-EVAY~Tiana's so MUSHIGGINNAH beyond belief! We spent the afternoon until almost dark while Tiana NEVER left wallowing in the Bridal Veil Falls the entire time except, to use the toilet; Tiana left the the Falls wanting to use the toilet but, Tiana has NEVER USED A PIT TOILET-EVER: Upon returning from the toilet-here we go again with Tiana's incessant complaints about the toilets . . . WTH-"There's no sink for washing my hands, no running H2O, can't flush the toilet, the toilet was so unbearably stinky, blah-blah-blah!!!!" Shut up already-You're located in a wilderness region~GEEZ!!!! Finally, I warned Tiana we must leave due to the fact, it was turning dark . . . But, Tiana was insistent she wanted to stay but, I warned her from the time it becomes dark, predatory animals, i.e., bears and cougars will begin hunting: I warned Tiana she can stay but, I'm leaving because there are bears and cougars who live via the America River; Tiana threw a big fit complaining she wanted to stay but, I reasoned with her she was ill-prepared for survival camping! OY-EVAY~Tiana really thought I was LYING about predatory animals skulking around the American River! Trouble Finds Trouble: Tiana's last troubling hurrah was when she took several photos of a family who were playing in the American River at Bridal Veil Falls before leaving which the family threatened taking Tiana's iPhone 11 away for invading their privacy! OY-EVAY~So typically insane for Tiana behaving so poorly disrespecting people's privacy and being absolutely unaware wildlife abounds! OY-EVAY~I gotta deal with Tiana's BH personality where she THINKS she is so above and beyond others and people must kowtow to her highness . . . Tiana actually THINKS people would be so enthralled having HER take your photo without YOUR permission!!!! My final thoughts: Geez~Tiana not having any regard for people's privacy and failing having NO CLUE wildlife abounds is typical for a person who owns a home a Beverly Hills and who has never spent any time in the wilderness-EVER . . . My eye rolls have been incessantly, constantly ensuing! Moreover, days later after visiting Bridal Veil Falls, a family of bears accosted a neighbor's STEEL GATE ripping the gates to smithereens: Tiana FINALLY apologized for accusing me for LYING bears and cougars live nearby. OY-EVAY! Just saw this on Neighbors: https://neighbors.ring.com/n/WQVxAY8LzE

Bridal Veil Falls is a very special and unique! There's definitely a different feel when you are there. The area is just a little more greener with moss along the rocks, the air is a little more fresher, and a little more cooler depending on the season. We were lucky enough to have a great season of RAIN in California The falls is located literally off the 50 East frwy in Pollock Pines. It's easy to find, but make sure you that so are on the far right lane to the exit. Its super fast and you could miss it if you are speeding. Before you go, falls are usually damp with light rain so make sure you have good shoes! It does get slippery. Also try not to climb on the rocks there is a big drop where the water collects and kids (well anyone) can fall in. (Don't be dumb) Two more reminders, if you need to use the restroom, use it before you get there! I didn't... There is none out there. Seriously, You'd have to go all National Geographic! The 2nd reminder is that because this place is right off the freeway Watch your small kids. Vehicles are speeding 60+ here and its super dangerous. Please just watch your steps, and take your time to enjoy the scenery and greenery, and to breathe in the air, and the atmosphere. The waterfall is very picturesque when the snow has melted and the water is just flowing. Overall, it's an excellent pit stop to make. A great place to take a date. It's becoming more and more touristy, so you can expect, not an overwhelming amount of people, but a decent amount .

We were driving out of Lake Tahoe and stumbled on Bridal Veil Falls. It just popped up on the rode and was eye catching. Luckily there was a large pullout that allowed us to stop and walk right up to the falls. It is not recommended to cross the street but traffic was limited so we dashed across Highway 50. It is also not recommended that you climb down to the base of the water because the water pressure may change up spontaneously. The falls are beautiful and worth the stop. For some reason the falls were not really photogenic but in person the visit is very rewarding. Its a quick visit with people coming and going regularly.

This place is on the way to Tahoe. If you do not know where it is...you could miss it. It has not always had a wall around it to keep people away. There is a parking area so you can get out and take pictures. Just the sound is so amazing. The beautiful things God created for our pleasure just amazes me. I could sit and listen to that all day.

**Singing** If you're a tourist and you see Bridal Veil Falls, clap your hands! Traveling with my family during the Presidents Day weekend, my cousin insisted we visit this place and take family photos. When you visit this place, you got about an hour and forty-five minutes before you arrive at South Lake Tahoe. Depending on the season, you'll see a small trickle to a medium sized waterfall overflowing the hilltop. The water empties out onto a small pond at the bottom where your can pose for great waterfall pictures. I'll admit that this place is great for family and lovey dovey photos with your special someone. I'm pretty sure there will be someone nice enough to take the photos for you.

Full enjoy this small free attraction. Take a picture. Add a filter. Make your life cooler than it is. There is a small area for cars to stop off 80. Don't blink or you will miss it.

This beautiful waterfall sits on Highway 50 and is a cool place to stop and grab a photo and take a break from your drive. Hopefully you see it in time to pull to the little clearing where there is parking big enough for just a few cars. This winter's storms have led to a full flow of water cascading from the top. It would be really cool if there were a trail to hike to the top of the falls, or perhaps there is since this is categorized under "hiking". Not seeing any trails toward the forest, my boyfriend and I decided this year-round beauty is best-viewed from the base of the falls and we enjoyed it for several minutes before getting back on the road toward home.

Whenever I'm on my way up to Tahoe we stop here, and I often come here just for fun because I live so close. It is a beautiful water fall that goes year round, and the scenery is amazing! the only con is that it is right on the highway, but it does not take away from it's beauty. I've even driven by and seen weddings here! Guess that explains the name.

Worth the quick stop to get out, stretch and check it out on the drive to Tahoe or back! Very cool little falls on an easy pull out.

We enjoyed how shady this area was, & how large this area was for our group. We were able to place 5 tents in this area, two tents which were large tents for families of 6. Each site has a fire pit, picnic table, is near a rinse of station and bathrooms. There are bathrooms and well maintained but they are the definition of out houses. Bring a flash light at night as there is no lights inside. No showers here. The trail to the water is not to long, id say its half a mile, very do-able if your not bringing much or have little ones. If you dont take the trail, you can always drive 3 minutes down the road to the boat launching area & park there for a day by the reservoir. The parking fee there is $10 in cash. By the water it's very rocky, so do bring good water shoes. There was a bear cub that roamed this campground, the host let is know it has been around since April , and that there hasn't been sight of momma bear since, meaning either momma bear abandoned him or was left behind, he really doesn't want anything to do with human interaction according to them. From our experience he comes around mostly in broad day light and not at night but still kept us on our toes especially because our group had littles ones. This is the only reason I am ranking this campground to be a 4/5 stars.

Each site had its own grill and fire pit with plenty of room for at least 2 tents. The restrooms are decently maintained and as a tip - use them in the morning (they're nice and cleaned)! Camp ground supplies toilet tissue. The water is near and accessible by going through a dirt path. FYI flat ground by the water is scarce. We ended up setting up just above the water and made our way down anytime we wanted to take a nice dip. Lots of rocks so make sure to bring water shoes to protect your feet! There were two sightings for bears according to others but we did not encounter one while we were there. We also locked up our food in the cars as there are no bear lockers. I saw some reviews mention getting tons of bug bites and getting dirty easily. Yes, that's true and we are also outdoors so it's to be expected! :) Just make sure to bring lots of bug spray and body wipes - there are no showers. We enjoyed this campground and its beauty! I took off a star because of all the car drifting/racing we heard late at night. Other than that, it's a great place for friends and families especially if you're looking to "unplug".

Ohh how I luv an information board. I learned that in 1958 SMUD started the local hydroelectric projects in the area. First with Ice House Dam and Reservoir. Then in 1971, they completed the "stairway of power" that is the 40 miles of tunnels, reservoirs, and penstocks that deliver hydroelectric power using the water and snowpack from the western slope Sierra Nevada mountains.
