We were in town for a conference and decided on Brick and Porter for beverages and appetizers. They have a decent selection of craft beer to choose from and the food was perfect for what we wanted. The atmosphere is what you'd expect from a brewery type of place, and the service was ok.

After a full day of conference meetings, my boss and I were starving and brain dead. We knew we needed dinner, but since I couldn't compose a thought, I told him it was his turn to pick a place for dinner. (I'd picked dinner the night before anyway, so there!) He asked if Brick and Porter sounded good, which it did. (I was in no shape to make a decision by that point. lol.) So, off we went. The place has a good selection of beer and when we walked in it was already busy for a Thursday night. (always a good sign.) It said to seat ourselves and after wandering around we found an empty table. Their menus are all via QR codes, so make sure you're phones handy and charged. They seem to have some very unique craft beers here, and we had fun reading through some of the names which made us laugh. One was called "Perk you Later." Another was called "bean flicker." I still find this entertaining. Boss did order one beer that they don't carry anymore, so I guess the beer menu isn't totally up to date. Boo hiss. He did take something else, so I guess that's a win. Anyway, we started off with spinach dip which was pretty good but the artichokes were a bit chunky and hard to pick up with chips. We checked out the menu and even their food had hilarious names. One was a pork sandwich called "wilbers last squeal." They also had a burger called the sassy burger! I would've ordered it but it had a lot of pork on it and it was to spicy for me at that time. My boss got a pork sandwich and I went with their burger selection of the otto ban burger. My burger was extremely delicious! I literally was stuffed after I was done. Best burger I've had in some time, and I was pleasantly surprised with just how good it was. The price point here's closer to $20 a person not including alcohol. They have some entrees that were closer to $25 a person but I wasn't that hungry. I will say what made our experience classic was our servers. It was a young man and a young woman training him. Both were absolutely hilarious! We couldn't get enough of them both! They really made the meal worth it and if I'm ever on this side of town again, I'm stopping back in here to laugh hard again because they were just that fun. Go here for the wonderful food selection and awesome staff. It has a nice decor and a more traditional style with chairs and tables, but it's a nice relaxing environment. Overall a fabulous experience!

My friend and I went here before a show and enjoyed a meal. Luckily our wait was pretty short and our service was great. He was extremely attentive and we each got a burger. It was delicious and huge! It was a bit loud and this is a spot that a lot of people frequent before shows at either Van Andel or Civic Theatre as it's right in between both. I know it gets pretty packed because of it and I totally see why. It was really good and I enjoyed it. I forget it's there and would totally come back!

Went around 6:45 pm during Art Prize weekend and we were seated within 15 minutes. Attentive staff, bartender made a nice drink and the food was tasty, hot & timely. Nice clean interior- not big but not tight seating. Just right for a nice Friday evening reset.

    Greek Fries (do NOT recommend)

Pros: We LOVED the outdoor, shaded seating. Great beer list. Cons: Our food experience wasn't great. Food was a smidge pricey. We ordered the Greek Fries, Mac & Cheese, B&P Beef sandwich with fries, French Onion soup, and a couple of beers. My hubs started out with the French Onion soup. I think my biggest problem with the soup is the consistency with relation to the recipe used. The first time we had it, it was amazing (hence we always order it now). But the second time wasn't as good -the flavor wasn't as deep and seemed like a different recipe. The third time we ordered it, today, it was, again, like a totally different soup. Very herby and too salty (and I happily over-salt everything so for me to say it was too salty is pretty big). I had been eyeing the Greek Fries for a while and took the plunge today. I do not recommend them. At all. I didn't finish them or take leftovers home (that's again saying a lot for me). I've never returned a dish, but considered it. Perhaps it was just not for me -I'm just really surprised at how much I did not like them. The Mac and Cheese was good. Very creamy. I'm not sure I would get it again, but I wasn't unhappy. My hub's B&P was very delicious. I feel like $17 was a little steep for the portion, but it was good. The beer was excellent!

Great vibes. Service was wonderful. The French fries are the best type of French fries. Perfectly crispy! A great place for lunch, happy hour, or dinner.

The service was good. I was excited to try one of the delicious sounding burgers on the menu. I ordered the Bigg Sassy burger cooked medium and it was super dry. And way overcooked charcoal consistency on ends. Its would have been. A good burger if it wasnt chared to a crisp. The french onion soup was really good. Nice rich soup perfectly melted cheese. My wife got the Cuban sandwich which was great also. Probably would try it again but not a burger.

My friends and I got together for lunch here and had a blast! You seat yourself and it wasn't busy so the service was quick and our server was attentive checking on us frequently. I had their mac and cheese with delicious bbq pulled pork and my friends had the mac and cheese with blackened chicken, avocado and pico de gallo and my other friend got their fiesta salad with quesadillas. Their menu offers a variety of options including burgers, sandwiches, salads, tacos and a bunch of tasty appetizers. Now that I've tried this place, I will definitely be back to try the other menu items and drinks!

Great spot! Lovely outside seating and great service. Food was excellent. Ordered the ranch chicken wrap and steak salad. Good portions and very flavorful. The fries had a good crunch and color on them. I also noticed an impressive option for bbq. Good signage inside for the restrooms which were clean.

Looks good, but burger was dry and not much flavor to the meat.

It was a very warm day in downtown GR. Stopped into B&P for a lunch around 1:30. There was outside seating, but opted for the inside seatingside seating with AC. The bar was full, but there were plenty of tables. Server came promptly with ice water. Then cleaned our table. You scan a QSR code to see menu on your phone. Was told the physical paper menu is outdated. Ordered burgers. Both ordered "medium," mine came out well done and charred, a bit dry. But the fixins were plentiful. Burgers also came with crispy fries, a good sized portion. My companion's burger was cooked right. I found the place to be rather noisy, the music unfamiliar. Had to ask for silverware after our food was served. Overall, unimpressed with the food and ambiance. Will try someplace else next time.

    Bri B.

Their garlic cheese curds are amazing. Reasonable drink prices too. Only $10 for an Old Fashioned Biggest con was I'm pretty sure their AC was broken (or not turned on) which was very unfortunate on a 80/90 degree day. Not exactly comfortable to be sitting in the heat like that, but service was still sold.

Neither of us ordered drinks, but I saw some fun-looking cocktails coming over to nearby tables. The fried pickles came out first and they were perfection. I don't usually get this appetizer because I don't like fried pickle spears, but these were thin chips. The ratio of the fried pickle chip vs. spear is way better. And these came with the best runny ranch. It was a huge portion to split between the two of us, so we had lots left over. Our sandwiches came out shortly after and looked amazing.
