I came by last night to grab a bite and a beer. I was too late as the kitchen had closed early. The barmaid was very kind and apologetic. I said I would be back today. She was not behind the bar when I arrived, but she greeted me and thanked me for returning. I sat at the and Alec(?) came up to me a few minutes after I settled in. He was friendly and let me taste a few beers before I decided that I would start with the Mexican larger and then have the pale ale with dinner and finish with a whiskey. I got the fall soup to start. It was good, but not outstanding. I then asked his recommendation for dinner. Unfortunately his initial suggestions were not to my mood or had bacon (which I don't do even thought I agree it is delish). He had already started to disengage with me and I had to ask questions a couple of times. I looked over my shoulder to see if he were more concerned about something behind me. He told me that a lot of people like the Ruben and that it is good. Look, it didn't suck, buuuuut I have had many better Ruben's on the west side alone. I asked him what kind of fries that had... he said French fries. I said no I mean are they shoestring or thin or thick or...? He said thick. They are not. Somewhere between shoestring and thin. What a disappointment. Not my "cup of tea". For the crowing capper? He never asked if I wanted another beer. He looked at my glass a couple of times - I told him in the beginning what I was going to order - he just didn't seem to care. Even when I was done and had pushed my plate to his side if the bar and had my card out he served two other drinks and checked out the guy next to me before he took care of me. I left a measly 19% tip (I never tip less than 30% and often even more). Please note, dear reader, that they were not busy. This is no way to earn my business. I shall not return. read more

I've been here a few times for work get togethers and the food and service have been great! I love their house made kettle chips, very tasty and clearly made from scratch. I tried the seasonal salmon and arugula salad and the salmon was nicely spiced and delicious! Being really picky, I'd appreciate if they removed the grey fatty thin layer found on the bottom of the filet, but it's not worth docking a star over that. I just did that myself at the table. This is now one of my favorite spots to stop in with a friend! The service is great even during busy times, the bartenders make killer drinks, and the food comes in large portions. For drinks we tried the spiced pear martini. I was worried it would be too sweet and was skeptical about the vanilla in it. It was GREAT. Super refreshing and could have more than one. I also had a dirty martini with one of the local vodkas they had available which was also so good. The Southwest salad is a huge portion, filled with toppings, and a perfect lunch for me. My brother got the briar Mac and cheese and let's just say his plate was empty in about two minutes! I really love the atmosphere of this spot. I had a hard time finding a place, as I tend to agonize, and this place was so great. The staff were so cool, our food was great. We had the Buffalo cauliflower and it was plentiful, three of shared. It was great. I had the chicken schwarma app for dinner and that was great too. I got the Gin-Tle and it was delicious. My friend got a pear martini and she liked it. All in all, great experience. Morgan the bartender was an absolute gem, but the blonde hostess completely ruined the vibe. I'm in a wheelchair and she looked at me waving at her to be let in, and completely ignored me. When my friend who I was meeting ran over to open the door for me. I implied that she should pay more attention to the door and she rolled her eyes. Extremely rude behavior. Sunny rooftop patio with good beers and food! Doesn't get much better than that. This place gets busy when the weather is good - no surprise since they have an awesome rooftop patio. We weren't quite sure if we were going to be table served on the patio but we quickly figured out we would have to go to the bar. When we did, service was quick! Amazing brewery to have in your neighborhood. The service is immaculate. The food is incredible and the ambience is top-notch briar common is definitely one of a kind and a neighborhood gem. Your dogs are welcome in the patio area and you can order at the window outside. It's an amazing people watching area as it sits on a corner in a pretty high traffic area of the neighborhood just across the street from Jefferson Park. They have incredible beers on tap and the coolest staff you'll meet in this neighborhood. I typically order the cauliflower wings, which will blow you away because they're absolutely amazing And Patrick takes care of me every time I'm there. It's located on a corner but easy to find. There's a nice ambience when you arrive at nighttime. There's lights but they are quite dimmed and it feels really chill. We came for a birthday and they were nice to allow us to bring our own cakes to the place to celebrate. Staff is super friendly and nice. For appetizers, the buffalo cauliflower was so delicious and i usually don't like buffalo sauce on anything but somehow, it worked. I definitely liked it more than my main meal. I ordered the ahi tuna poke salad and it was good but defiantly a salad base. I ate half and saved it for the rest when I'm home so that I can add more rice, seaweed, and sesame seeds to make it an actual poke bowl. Otherwise, I was impress they did not cheapen the tuna and there was plenty of tuna and mangoes in the salad. Parking is crazy and difficult. First off, the majority of the parking around here require a permit for Monday's to Fridays. It's not hectic like downtown but it can be. Read all the signs so you don't get towed. read more

We came here on a Saturday night where we were looking for a more casual vibe. Parking can be the most challenging part of this spot, but we found street parking quickly. We were seated upstairs and service was prompt. I find that some of the best service I've had is by bartenders and since we had an 8 PM reservation, one of the bartenders took our orders with drinks quickly in place. Everything we ordered was delicious. The cauliflower appetizer is enough for four. We tried both cocktails and beer, and both can stand on their own. There's a nice rooftop open air space with fireplaces that is also first come first serve. Overall, I would return here again for a happy hour or a more casual meal. read more

I wanted to write this review at the restaurant, before I forgot. Most important part, they have bottomless mimosas for $20! And it isn't one of those things you have to keep ordering a cup. They walk around with a pitcher ready to fill up. Our waitress Brittney is doing a phenomenal job. I'm at brunch with some picky eaters and she's able to accommodate everyone. The patience, the professionalism, the absolute sweetness she's portraying is just impeccable. But the food: Chicken and waffles: dank AF. Biscuits and gravy: 2 people from the party didn't love it and sent it back. It's mostly from the texture. The gravy is thick and chunky. If you're a texture person or visual person, it's not for you. The breakfast sammy: looks good, the friends said it was good so I trust them. Them thick fries save lives. They are sooooo good. Oh and the artichoke dip with pita is delicious. The pita is soft, warm, and buttery. 10/10 recommend. For a place that specializes in beer, they're doing a fine job. During our stay in Denver, I was blown away by the amount of incredible food. I don't hear many people mentioning Denver when they talk about great food towns. They should. It is also a great beer town. And Briar Common is the perfect example of a place that does both at the top level. We started with a flight of four beers: Hobart with Peach (Belgian Golden Strong with Peach), Hopimist IPA (American IPA), Common Ground (American Coffee Stout, and Sour Seoul (Spicy Kettle with Guava). Man, we're these fabulous brews. They were all great but the Hobart and Sour Seoul were at another level. The Sour Seoul was truest unique. I had never had a spicy beer before. And you could smell the guava. As for the Hobart, the peach aroma was intense. Loved it. For food, we had the Brussels sprouts. Nice and crispy. I went with our server's recommendation of the. Briar Burger, which had pork belly, fried egg, and truffle aioli. I got it with chips. Great recommendation. My wife had the Ahi Tuna Poke and loved it. Our son had the kids cheeseburger with fries. We made a reservation in advance which I highly recommend (since they told me to via Yelp question) and we had to change the reservation about an hour prior to arrival and there was no issue in doing so. Every single employee we encountered was so very nice and I cannot remember our servers name... maybe Charles... but he was awesome! The place was casual and comfortable and the beer selection was on point. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower and ended up eating the entire thing without regret!! For lunch I had the ahi tuna poke which was the best tuna I have had in a very long time but a smidge too much arugula for me. If you are an old fashioned fan like me, you must try the chai old fashioned... wow!! Parking wasn't bad on a Friday at lunch. Street parking, but there was quite a bit open. Always drove by here and never tried and went for a business lunch today. I made a reservation - they were super busy but more people came as leaving. I liked their array of options from salads to sandwiches or entrees. I got the Turkey Club with a side of Brussels and it was great. Waiter was attentive and no issues. I've been back a few times since writing this review and sadly have been less impressed -- including a bad experience tonight -- so I'm updating my rating to 2.5 stars. First, you no longer get seated and basically no longer get service if you sit anywhere outside. It's now seat yourself and you have to go to the bar to order. (None of this is clearly posted, by the way -- you have to ask the host or serving staff.) The service was a highlight of my patio experience in the past, so it's unfortunate that they changed this. On to the food: I went in craving their chicken shawarma dish...and they said they were out of chicken shawarma :(. I got the chicken tacos instead; my dining companion got a burger. It took 30 minutes to get our food without any explanation or acknowledgement from the person who dropped off our food. (And restaurant was not busy btw.) The chicken was dry and flavorless, and both dishes were cold. PS: I just now looked through other Yelpers' recent reviews and someone mentioned these *exact* issues w the tacos a month ago.
