Brewnuts is seriously one of my favorite spots to go for doughnuts! They have a different selection everyday and their doughnuts are super fresh. They craft their own doughnuts so they aren't the typical ones you get at the grocery store. The size of the doughnuts is also twice as big! Whenever you go you have to get an assortment of their flavors for that day. In addition, they offer coco pebbles and fruity pebbles lattes where they take the cereal and soak it in milk and make the latte with the soaked milk so you get a little sweetness from the cereal in your latte that isn't overpowering. Brewnuts is also not just known for their doughnuts but also their alcoholic coffee beverages! Although they are open late get their early because their doughnut selection sells fast! read more

Your average Clevelander is used to preservatives, artificial flavors and colors, pre-made foods, microwaved meals and "just add water" scratch made foods for the ignorant! So......beer and donuts for breakfast while we're out exploring Cleveland ? Why not ! I was sold at the sound of it , and from what we saw the place is poppin' for locals and tourists alike . We got there around 9am on a Saturday and there was no trouble finding a seat - menu of my breakfast was : s'more Donut (with fudge chunk in the center, this was a 3.5/5 toppings were good but I wasn't a fan of the flour taste) paired with the Jailbreak Churro Brown Ale (5 stars) amazing breakfast beer !!! Brewnuts got themselves a storefront and it's a donut shop/local bar hybrid. What an awesome idea! For those who don't know, a donut goes great with a glass of beer! I'll be honest, I haven't had Brewnuts since they first opened back in 2014. I wasn't that impressed with the donuts back then and thus I didn't have the interest to track them down around Cleveland in local coffee shops. Well what a difference time makes and how great it can be to give places second chances! I stopped in one Thursday evening and I must say that I really enjoyed the blueberry lavender something donut that I got! To me the size of the donut was bigger than average, the texture was light, and the glaze was tasty - definitely had flavor to it. I also tried this maple, bacon, bourbon donut, not as good, but still no where near a bad donut. I swear the donuts were not this good when I tasted them three years ago, maybe they improved their recipe or maybe my tastes improved over time, who knows! But I will definitely be back to eat more of these donuts! Price wise, they are $3 and on the more expensive end, but with the quality and size I can justify a six pack when I've got special company over or when I'm just looking to develop diabetes and cover up my emotions with food. Decor is super cool, eclectic - I'm talking different artsy animal heads on the wall, pink flamingo wallpaper in the women's bathroom, and a leather couch for when you wanna be Ron Burgundy. The guy who did the "Prince eating a donut" street art in Ohio City/Hingetown also did the "Breaking Bad dudes eating donuts" wall art. All in all, good donuts and chill environment. I recommend you check this place out (open mornings and evenings). I did take off a star because there was no board saying what donut flavors were available for the day and because people who came in after me to get to-go orders were taken care of before I was while sitting at the bar. Listen up y'all. This place has donuts AND beer. Their donuts are massive (literally, as big as a small child's face) and delicious. They even have vegan donuts, and honestly I can't even tell they're vegan because they taste so good. Their menu is always changing, and the flavors are pretty creative. For example: orange creamsicle, pear, dirt pudding, apple pie, raspberry rosemary, blueberry goat cheesecake, etc. The only drawback is the parking situation - it's sometimes a hassle. There's no parking lot, so you'll have to snag a spot on the street or go to one of the nearby public parking lots. These donuts are 100% worth the hassle, though. This kid is not surprised by the sheer size and deliciousness of this donut but rather he is forecasting his intent to devour it from the frosting side down. Unlike most donut shops, the coffee here is roasted by local heroes Phoenix Coffee Co. and drip coffee, americanos, & espressos are all priced at a very fair $2. So, the coffee is very very güd. Unlike the kid, I like the fry cakes better than the yeast-raised donuts for they are more dense and crispier. Today was the red velvet fry cake with cream cheese frosting and coconut flakes. Great textures & flavors and not too sweet. Goes great with some Phoenix Coffee! GAH. I'm ruined on other donuts forever. (In the best possible way.) First of all, the presentation of these donuts is crazy good. Visually appealing is usually an indication of care in preparing food. Second: The size. These aren't your typical "plow down a dozen" sized donuts. (Uh. No. I don't eat 12 donuts in a sitting. I mean... Not me, but a guy I know. Yeah...) These are double-sized donuts. Third: The outside has a crisp pop, followed by tender airyness on the inside. That doesn't happen with every donut you get here, but I did get in with 3/6 donuts I bought, and that's the holy grail of donut texture to me. Creativity is always a welcome guest at any breakfast table I visit, and the flavor combinations, execution, and pairing with fantastic beers make Brewnuts an extraordinary start to any day. I don't have a sweet tooth compared to the average person, so having a beer that really sets off the sweetness is important here. (Or coffee, if you have reservations about drinking before noon.) Came in on a Saturday morning for one of their collaborations. The line was nearly out the door but the donuts were worth the wait. Things moved quickly and despite the rush of customers the employees were calm and pleasant. I opted for a half dozen ($16) and a beer so I could try a few different flavors. Maple bacon and lemon raspberry take the cake (donut) but unfortunately not all of the flavors were winners. The interior is bright and cheery. I donut know what to say, I was honestly super upset to even have to rate this the way I did, and I would call it a fluke but something tells me what I experienced was the norm... I was craving and when I say CRAVING I mean craving a donut, and I was on the west side in Lakewood so I pulled out my trusty YELP monocle and it brought me to Brewnuts. Why not try it? It's right by my job and was on the way home from where I was. Walked in, it's a cute little corner shop with a nice little door, you go in and it's super cool inside. The donuts is what I went for so that was my b-line to the counter, and I was actually super bummed to see such bland donuts. I posted a picture of what they had available and honestly while some turned my stomach completely, others didn't hit the mark like I had hoped. I ended up with an Oreo, A Scrumdidlyumtious and a wonka. $9 for it all, perfectly priced with other donut shops so no gripe there. The guy behind the counter wasn't friendly at all, was actually kind of annoyed when I added another donut and asked him what their best seller was but whatevvvvssss. Got my bag of donuts not even a box -___- and walked my happy self out. I dug into the bag like the pro eater I am and I was happy with the size; the Oreo one was actually HUGE. Coating wise it was very basic, I feel they could have done wayyyyy better for how they market their shop...one bite and I was eh. It was super doughy, and it wasn't sweet, I'm not sure if they lighten the sugar on purpose but when I eat a donut I want to feel like I'm going into diabetic shock and I honestly didn't get that. I checked out the other two donuts and much to my dismay they were pretty bland too. The frosting on the scrumdiddlyumptious one was literally no flavor, someone forgot the confectioners sugar or something; and the wonka donut was dried out. I actually ended up throwing the Oreo one out after two bites and picked the topping off the other one. Love, love, love Brewnuts! It's really hard not to. I have been frequenting this place since they had a small store front in Tremont years ago. Admittedly, I stalk their social media account on Instagram. And it makes me drool all the time for donuts. Every time I'm in the area I have to stop and get a done! The fine folks that opened this place put their own sweat and hard work into making this place a reality. In Cleveland everything is earned. They epitomize this. The American Dream at it's finest. The storefront has Brewnuts script facing Detroit and Donuts and Beer facing W 65th. When you go to open the front door it's a rolling pin. Upon entering there is a lot of local influences hanging all over the walls. What draws your attention immediately is the Donut Mess with Cleveland Neon sign hanging over the bar area. But there are so many other locally inspired pieces hanging all over the walls. It's worth checking out. I've never been to Brewnuts when there isn't a line. But it always moves fast with a smile from whoever is working behind the counter. The donuts themselves are the real star of the show here. Twice as big as a standard donut any place else. Made in small batches to ensure they sell out daily. I always know I'm going to get the freshest done when I walk in the door. And the variety is all over the place. Yesterday we picked up a strawberry glazed with sprinkles and chocolate glazed with cinnamon toast crunch cereal on top. Guy in front of us ordered donuts that had a shot of liquor on top. Did I mention they use beer to make every donut? Maybe that's why they are so moist, tender, and one of the best donuts I've ever had on planet earth. Apparently, at night you can order a donut and beer. Haven't been at night. I wanted so badly to like this place given the Cinderella story behind it and the positive reviews, beautiful social media, however I was extremely underwhelmed. I arrived at 7:40am on a Sunday morning knowing this place gets crazy busy and I hate waiting in long lines. I was the first one in the door and here is where my experience started to go downhill. I had an idea of some donuts I wanted to try but they are very cryptic with their flavors-they have names but they never list what's in them. As I drove quite a distance and was spending a lot per donut the employee was very short with me. For example I asked what was in the cinnamon toast donut (ie what kind of glaze, was that Cinnamon Toast Crunch or bread on top) and just said "it's cinnamon toast." He was like this with all the flavors I asked about. I know they're busy but this is not a big request. Onto the donut-the icing to bread ratio is way off-it's almost double the dough needed. Similarly I have never had such oily donuts in my life. It bled through the wax paper, box, and into my car. The heated donuts had a bitter off taste-not sure if from the beer or something g else. The fry cake was raw on the inside, and per another review this seems to happen often. The only donut I finished was the brownie batter because of the delicious filling. This leads to the strength of this place: the toppings and fillings. The icings were fresh, scratch made. The strawberry icing on the banana split donut had actually chunk a of strawberry, the brownie batter didn't taste exactly like brownie batter but rather a delicious salted chocolate pudding. However comparing all the places in Cleveland, Biagios is still the best with Jack Frost a close second. This was not worth my trip or money. This was one spot I was sooo looking forward to trying out. I love donuts and what better way to celebrate an 11 year old's birthday than to get some giant donuts? Two adults and three teens agree: meh. The donuts are super appealing to the eye but fall far short on taste. I paid nearly $40 for a dozen donuts and got one of everything and none of them were as amazing as I hoped. To be honest they fall below a hot Krispy Kreme on the donut scale. I was a huge naysayer if this place for long time. I figured it was just another overpriced flash in the pan boutique donut shop taking advantage of the craft beer trend. BUT I WAS SO WRONG. I've gone 2 times so far and every time has been amazing. The first time I went was to bring a dozen to some eastsiders who asked me to. I was like HOLY CRAP THAT'S EXPENSIVE FOR A DOZEN DONUTS! What a rip off! When I got in the car I tried the one I picked picked out for myself. Donut angels came down from the heavens and started singing donut hymns. This donut was super soft and fresh and the frosting was perfectly sweet. And the donut was huuuuge. Definitely, 100% not a rip off. In fact, I'd say it's a deal! My husband, my 2 yr old and I went back this past Mother's Day because they needed to try these donuts. We each got a different flavor and shared. I don't remember the flavors we got though. Whomp. BUT! I also a cereal milk latte made with fruity pebbles milk. OMFG this latte was incredible. I highly recommend trying it! Oh and they were giving all the moms that came in a rose! I must confess that I'm not much of a beer fan, but that didn't stop me from devouring my Brewnuts. Thankfully, I didn't find the beer overpowering at all! It actually provided a nice counterbalance to the sweetness of the donut, creating a more savory (But still delicious!) pastry. The shop is cute but small, and they don't bake the donuts on site so once they're out they are OUT. Flavors also seem to change regularly. The day I was there (in May as I am slow to review) they had six options to choose from: oreo, maple bacon, glazed, raspberry, coffee, and lemon shortbread. I, of course, ordered one of everything. The donuts are a bit pricey at $3 each, but well worth the occasional splurge. It's good. I got the hostess cupcake and honey bun. The hostess cupcakes looks fantastic, but the dough inside is very bread-y and slightly dry, not the super soft yeast-y texture I was hoping for. I also didn't think the white cream filling tasted right. The honey bun was much better but still not 100% on the texture. The latte was fantastic. It's a fun shop and fun concept. Food: beer and doughnuts is an awesome thing. They are CONSTANTLY updating their menu, so there's always something new to look forward too. It's almost like starting a collection, trying to eat all the flavors. They base it off of themes, which is super innovative and fun. They also have several beers on tap to pair with the doughnuts. My only qualm is the doughnuts age quickly... definitely eat these bad boys fresh. So doughy and soft, but turn stale quicker than I'd like. I've brought them into my office and by lunch they're so-so. They're also a heavy doughnut, so splitting one with someone is a good idea! Atmosphere: SO FUN. If you're looking for a little eye candy for your day/evening, this is a great spot. The decor, wallcovering, and 'doughnut mess with cleveland' sign make the space cheeky and playful. Speechless. Normally I pride myself on providing in-depth lengthy reviews but I don't even know where to begin with Brewnuts... I've been following their social media pages for quite some time now and was finally able to make my first (but certainly not my last!) visit (not) today. Brewnuts did NOT disappoint, to say the least. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The donuts? My goodness. Crispy, fluffy, richly sweet... but that's what you want in a donut right?? I tend to be a more savory, less-sweet kinda person but the flavors Brewnuts puts in their donuts made me feel like I was having a unique, indulgent treat rather than a bland ring of sugar. So so good! With all their creativity and special flavor profiles, I would like to see them try for a savory treat (is that possible with a donut? I dunno but I'd be happy to give some suggestions! If anyone can do it, they can!) The ale fry cake was slightly oily, but perfectly spiced and sweet. Crispy crunchy outside with a dense yet soft inside. The maple bacon? Fluffy unlike any other donut I've had. And the goat cheesecake - oh. my. gosh. Incredible!! As someone who doesn't typically like cherry flavored things, this was maybe the best donut I have ever had. A blackberry/blueberry/raspberry version would be even better. Some of the flavors include coco puffs, fruity pebbles, hibiscus lemonade, maple bacon and of course glazed...they have many more. They have speciality coffees and beer on tap. I'd been begging Dave to take me to Cleveland to try Brewnuts for forever. So when we had a chance to travel up north for a bridal shower, we made sure to stop in at Brewnuts! There's a small parking lot nearby, but otherwise parking is street parking or lots farther away. It's not atypical of anything that's in a more urban setting, but I can't stand to parallel park, so I like to give everyone a heads up cause if you're anything like me, you're going to need several days to prepare for the act of parking. ;) The donut shop itself sits on the corner of a really cute brick building. The exterior is somewhat unassuming, but as soon as you walk in you're struck by how adorable this donut shop is. The aesthetic is spot on with vintage furniture and a pink and teal color palette. It's the absolute perfect place to hang out for a few hours with friends and share a pint or two and a donut or two. We went at Christmastime so there were A Christmas Story themed donuts on the menu. Dave got the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and it literally looked like the meatloaf and mashed potatoes served in the movie (don't worry, it tasted very chocolate-y)! I ordered the strawberry with sprinkles, which is my go-to donut shop order. Their menu changes quite regularly and they're often doing a ton of fun seasonal items, so if you're trying them outside of the holiday season, you're still likely to find an adorable and well-themed donut. But the strawberry with sprinkles is often on their menu! We also ordered a Great Lakes Christmas Ale (and they put cinnamon sugar on the rim, a touch I love but rarely see bartenders doing) and the Platform Holiday Donut Cookie (a collab between Brewnuts and CLE brewery, Platform). Again, these are obviously seasonal brews, but you can expect much more from this donut shop than just the standard domestic drafts. They have a great craft lineup and often do collaborations with Platform (seriously, how fun is that!). Just about everything about Brewnuts was a standout. However, it must be said that despite the colossal size of the donuts, they were not standouts. I was shocked at how underwhelmed I was by their donuts, especially after wanting to come here for so long. They almost tasted like vegan donuts? Well, finally got to try some donuts today. We weren't allowed to buy many because they "have to stay open all day", so we got two. It's definitely different. The dough itself is pretty bland and mostly just a grease sponge. Lacking flavor and maybe even a little over cooked. The toppings are great so it sort of balances it out, but for us, it wasn't worth the trip. They were a bit spendy and even our kids didn't finish theirs because they didn't like it (they eat donuts like cookie monsters). read more

Quickly becoming a hit with locals and tourists so come out and see for yourself what all the fuss is about. I came in after a 10 mile running race as per my tradition that I have a donut after a long run. It was a Saturday morning and the line was out the door. Don't worry - it moves fast as all they sell are donuts. I got a mocha donut and coffee and both were great. Got a few for the road as well. They also serve beer with lots of local brews on tap, some of which were from the lesser know microbrews which is always interesting and worthy of our support. Pairing beers with donuts sounds odd but they appear to be onto something. As for my 10 Miler? I ran it in a personal best time of 86 minutes...thanks Brewnuts! read more

Who's brilliant ass idea was it to combine beer and donuts?!?! This place is perfect after working a night shift or for a quick pastry brunch. We moved from the West side to the east side of Cleveland last year, but I make sure to stop in to this bomb ass donut shop wherever we can catch them open while back West. By the way... The donuts are HUGE and definitely shareable. I love their vegan options just as much, of not more than the traditional donuts. The flavors are pretty delicious and creative. The beer (craft, like only Cleveland does) pairs exceptionally well. It's a Candida party at this place...but I never feel bad about it. read more
