Sliced beef, two wings and a small collard greens
    Camille B.

Yuuuum.... I initially went inside market hall to go to ninja city but they moved so I had to think of a backup plan and saw this place. I've had their donuts before and they're delicious so I thought I'd give the food a try. I got the sliced beef, two wings and an order of collard greens. The wings were good but I've had better as far as flavor goes but they were cooked well. The greens were delicious. Very melt in your mouth. I absolutely love the pickles and the slaw. And the sliced beef stole the show. It's so tender. It falls apart as you try to take it out the container. Overall, I spent about $28 and would definitely return again for the beef and greens

I came for the farmers market but stayed for lunch at this place. If you've been to Van Aken Market Hall you know the set up, order at the front and wait for your pager to buzz. What drew my eye initially were the donuts and then I looked at their full menu. I opted for a pulled pork sandwich which I hadn't had in ages that came with purple onions and a slaw on the sandwich. They were VERY generous with the pork and, naturally, it did fall out of the sandwich a bit but that's to be expected. I'm not sure what sort of bun they used but it withstood the moisture of the meat and toppings very well and didn't really disintegrate (always a plus). I ended up taking two donuts because I couldn't decide. The first was a double chocolate which I was looking forward to the most. I was a bit disappointed because I wasn't a fan of the buttercream filling, it wasn't as chocolate-y as I would've liked but that's a personal preference. The other was a strawberry hibiscus (?) and the flavor was lovely. The donuts themselves are a bit hefty so if you're expecting light and pillow-y, these are not the donuts for you. Overall great lunch that left me with leftover pulled pork for dinner.

Haute Donuts is now Haute Donuts and BBQ! That's right, donuts by morning and BBQ by night. I heard about this development and stopped in while at Van Aken. LOCATION: Haute Donuts and BBQ now has a new stand at Van Aken. The owners previously owned Gio's Pastaria which is now the new home of Haute. The stand is more central and spacious. The new stand has really trendy decor - chandelier and Tiffany-like pink lamps. It makes it standout big time and feels really nostalgic. It gives girl dinner vibes. FOOD: The menu is simple - meats, sandwiches, and sides. There's some creativity on this menu like cowgirl caviar (corn and beans). I experienced BBQ chicken thigh sandwich ($14). The sandwich comes with no sides but has a serving of kraut salad and pickles atop the sandwich. The chicken was perfectly tender but seriously lacked sauce. It was very lightly coated and the sandwich tasted dry. The bun seemed liked it was frozen and could use a little warming. Would I order this sandwich again? No, too dry and not a good value for $14. I'd explore the rest of the menu though and check out meats by pound and sides. Definitely tasting cowgirl caviar next time! SERVICE: The service was considerably better than during my previous visit. Employees were very friendly and patient during my interview questions. I plan to come back and try other menu options on some winter night when I'm craving comfort food! I like BBQ portion more than donuts although it could be cool if both were available at the same time. Or if there was some sweet donut BBQ sandwich!

My family in Cleveland has gotten donuts from Haute in the past that are quite tasty, but during our last visit we tried some of their bbq for the first time and it was AMAZING! My husband ordered the brisket, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich and wow it was incredibly tasty! The service was friendly and the ambiance was lively since we were in the Van Aken food hall. I can't wait for the next time we are in town to have it again!

Unique barbecue with eccentric sides like kimchi cucumber salad and a dill slaw that was tasty and came on the side with my pork belly burnt ends. The cauliflower burnt ends were pieces with ends torched and drenched in a sweet thin sauce. The pork belly burnt ends were fantastic!!! Not dry at all!!! Not all fat either but the perfect juicy amount. Given how thick and heavy abd not to my liking their donuts are, I am surprised at how delicious the bbq is! Will definitely have to try the other meats sometime soon.

Nice quaint space. Delicious donut. Friendly staff. It was my first time at this location. It is my understanding that they have set hours, but when they are sold out, thats it. So glad I was able to try a donut.

Chopped Beef and Mac 'n Cheese

One of the best spots I've had BBQ at and not just in Cleveland. The chopped beef brisket sandwich knocked my socks off. The balance of the tangy slaw and kraut with the peppery juicy beef just hit so well. The mac and cheese was top tier and not a basic bbq side. Service was excellent as well. I WILL be back for seconds.

I found this place from a Yelp event and couldn't stop thinking about it. My boyfriend and I decided to grab some donuts from here. We got a mix of specialty and regular donuts. The regular donuts were okay but oh boy oh boy, those 50 layers donuts were heaven. They were so flaky but not too buttery. One bit of it would make you eating more of it. I've to be careful with this place because I would the whole box of 50 layers donuts. They seem to have different flavor each day, so I would recommend checking their IG page for daily menu.

I tried Haute Donuts for the first time on my trip to the Van Aken Market. The donut I picked was more like a cronut. I loved the texture but was not in love with the icing...I am picky! I would love to try a different donut on our next trip to the outskirts of Cleveland.

Haute Donut- 100 Layer Vanilla and Cranberry next to the Beignet donut.
    Jeff D.

Loved the 100 layer (croissant type) Vanilla Cranberry and the Lemon Poppyseed donut. The beignet was ok. The key here is selecting the unique version. Leave the boilerplate options in the display case. Next time we're aiming at the unusual.

What a treat! Donuts were delicious! Noticed a lot of comments on the price, and quality. Donuts were reasonably priced for the size and tasted fresh and cooked well!! Delicious and one of kind locally. Can't wait to try different flavors. Would recommend checking out (:

    Underbaked sweet roll

I have been to this place 3 times and my review is based on these experiences. The staff are friendly and nice. However the donuts and baked goods are not special. I've tried the vanilla, and chocolate donuts they are very typical donut shop style in flavor. Nothing wrong with them but also nothing gourmet. The rolls that I've had each time--I do take issue with these items are underbaked and that is apparent both in the chewy texture and visibly. All in all i feel the prices should reflect the quality.

    Yum!

So good! The best donuts made fresh everyday. Don't be late or they will be sold out. It's a Saturday morning habit at our house.

Terrapin is wonderful. Cool, friendly staff that care about running a local, sustainable business…read more I appreciate a shop that runs on a "we've got it until we sell out" model. Never a doubt that what you're getting is fresh. So what do they run out of sometimes? Donuts. They have the most unique donuts in Cleveland. They're not decked out in over-the-top toppings, which are always better in theory than taste. Instead, these all follow the same format. Basic chewy donut with interesting flavor combinations and simple complementary toppings. Last time we were in they had lavender lemon, peanut butter banana and key lime coconut, among about 7-8 others. Highly recommend the key lime. Let's talk about the breakfast burritos. The size of a baby. A delicious baby. They're stuffed with a lot of ingredients and they all work together. The breakfast sandwiches are good too, though I am burrito from here on out. Breakfast ends at 11, heads up. They have a few tables in there but mostly keep up a steady stream of to-go traffic picking up breakfast, bakery items and coffees (they use Phoenix beans).

Tried both cake and yeast donuts again years later today. The cake donuts were hit or miss-…read moreAll flavorful indeed, and some with a wonderful crispy outside. The pb banana was a winner for sure. But generally they are all very dense and almost too cakey- thick and dry in the mouth in a not great, heavy way. But still way better than the yeast donuts which should be skipped altogether. All of the four or so yeast donuts I tried were big grease laden heavy extremely bready misses. Dry, thick, chewy in a way that was more like a large piece of fried bread loaf than a light fluffy donut. Just bad in texture all around. The frosting and flavor were still there which is nice. Service was super friendly and the inside is quite cute with lots of alt flair and stickers everywhere. They just need to use a lot less flour instead of making heavy bready loafy donuts. GUYS. I had to add another star. I tried the giant ho-ho they sell and I have forgiven their earlier trespasses against donuts! This thing tastes almost like a real ho ho except a slight hint of bittersweet in the chocolate coating. Creamy inside. Chocolatey everywhere and the cake isn't too dense or dry! Get one! Wow! I took a picture of mine but I already decimated it because it was so good.
