    Pineapple upside down cake
    Binnan O.

This is a very small bakery with only two main counter display cases and a window display case you have to kind of peer around once you're inside. The selection is a little limited, they had 4-5 varieties of paczkis, pineapple upside down cakes, a dozen cookie varieties, and some variations on strudels and kipfels. They also had some frozen perogies in a freezer you can take home and cook. The overall feel is a little disorganized and cluttered but the staff were friendly and made some helpful suggestions. Just be warned there is a service charge for credit card purchases. Food: Everything was overall fine but not spectacular. There was a clear home-cooked taste to everything (in a good way) but things kind of lacked creativity and polish to make it spectacular. We ended up getting a apple paczki, pineapple upside down cake, and some oatmeal cookies. The cookies had a nice clean toasty oatmeal flavor that let the raisins and cranberry shine through. Be warned they are crumbly-style cookies which are not my favorite but they aren't dry like many are. The paczki was fluffy and jam-packed with sweet apple filling which was good but it's texture is tougher than a regular jelly-filled donut if you've never had one. The pineapple upside down cake was pretty standard, tasted like boxed yellow cake with a slice of pineapple. Overall I enjoyed my snacks from this place but it's quality reminded me of a good bake sale rather than a professional bakery. I also am not a fan of the drier, crumblier, and tougher textures of polish baked goods but for that style, these are good versions of them.

    Fun cookies!

Visited here for the first time. Drove to Northfield because I wanted to get a few paczki for the family. I didn't get there in time as Stan's was sold out for the day. I decided to buy some kolacky and it was really good. The filling tasted great and the cookie part was good too. Very fresh! The staff were friendly and helpful and informed me that more paczki would be available on Tuesday. I was there on a Saturday. I highly recommend that paczki be ordered ahead of time. Looking forward to trying the paczki here and will order some for next week.

It's no wonder why they had a baker win the Food network decorating challenge, their stuff is super cute. Got a great looking and tasting 6 pack of frycakes. The only bummer is this place charges more to use a credit card. I hardly ever have cash on hand.

Stan's Bakery ingredients! Please don't let your family eat this poison!

Stan's Bakery ingredients! Please don't let your family eat this poison! You have got to be kidding me! The people at this baker should be ashamed of themselves! A small neighborhood bakery where the residence around it think that they're getting scratch made baked goods but instead they're getting garbage! If you want these kind of ingredients go to grocery store like giant Eagle.

Followed Stan's on social media for a long time and finally decided to order a birthday cake. I sent a photo and they recreated it exactly, plus a couple extra cute details AND coordinating cookies! Everything was delicious. I was able to order via Facebook messenger and pay by PayPal which was super convenient.

Items Selected: "Big Dupa" - Vanilla Meringue Paczki Mixed Nut Paczki Autumn Spice Butter Drop, Snickerdoodle, Peanut Butter Cookie, Oatmeal Craisin Cookie Pumpkin Spice Frycake Dutch Apple Fritter Located in the suburb of Northfield, a thirty minute drive from Downtown Cleveland in average traffic, Stan's Northfield Bakery occupies a tiny space amidst Laundromats and Autoparts Stores on Olde 8 Road, the family owned and operated site generating the majority of its traffic from a nearby middleschool and other local businesses...not to mention accolades for Northeast Ohio's very best Pierogis and other Eastern European specialties. Open since 1961, baker Stanley Srodek's recipes all time-honored traditions handed down from his Polish-Catholic upbringing to the current third-generation ownership, a first look at Stan's is like a step back to simpler times as glass and metal cases nearly fill the entirety of the retail space with store windows also lined in sweet temptations, the back-half of the building reserved for baking that starts before 3am Monday through Saturday. Even smaller than it looks from the outside, a Standing Room Only sign probably as warranted as any on the door, it was after brief perusal of several options that an order was conveyed to an elderly woman behind the counter, a total of eight items tallying $13.45 Cash and taken to a nearby park to be devoured. Dining solo at the time, and thus unable to partake in several styles of Pie or luxurious looking Nut Bread, it was instead with four cookies that the tasting got started, the Snickerdoodle and Seasonal Butter Drop absolutely perfect with meltingly soft centers surrounding by crisp rings while the Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Craisin were equally well crafted, though not particularly different from those that can be found at most good bakeries. Intrigued by the "Fritter," essentially a fried Apple Streudel that eats lighter than the traditional version but comes off a bit greasy due to cooking oil flooding the pocket's fold, a better bite was found in the moist Pumpkin Fry-Cake slathered in Buttercream and Cinnamon Streusel while year-round Paczki virtually unheard of elsewhere are every bit as good as those found around Lent in Polish neighborhoods, the nut paste version itself good while the "Big Butt" named to many local 'best-of' lists offers the pillowy lard-fried treat sliced in half and wrapped around a cloud of Vanilla Meringue.

We LOVE going to Stans !!! Everything is amazing, especially the doughnuts, sugar cookies and cakes. They did an amazing job for my son's pool party, we wanted something easy to grab and delicious.

I'm so happy Stan's bakery is here and are so close to me. They have so many yummy baked goods. Recently I ordered a cake last minute for my sister birthday. The cake turned out beautiful and delicious! The price was great too! Don't hesitate to try them people. You'll be glad you did.

Fat Tuesday paczki are soft fluffy and lots of filling in many flavors. Excellent. Lines are long in that day so come prepared to wait.

I literally just asked for a recreation of the exact cake that I had for my 18th birthday. Mind you I also had pictures and they also remembered making my cake for me. I had very clear instructions on what I wanted. I was hosting my 23rd birthday at my new home with my family and was hoping to have a really nice quality cake for this event. My mother came to drop off the cake at the house. I couldn't even believe what I was seeing. I don't even have a picture of it because I just don't even wanna look at the cake again. The way they designed the cake it almost seemed like it was a cake for a two-year-old. It was just a plain white cake with light purple dollops on the edges it with sparkles and a butterfly on it. I didn't even ask for a butterfly what was there a butterfly on my cake? It just was so childish looking and not at all what I asked for. I was embarrassed to have this cake at my event. We will not be purchasing with them again after this...

Planning a…read morewedding from afar (in an unfamiliar city no less) seemed daunting initially, but thanks to finds like "A Piece of Cake" I'm quite confident we'll pull it off successfully. We just completed a tasting with Miya over Christmas break (well in advance of our September 2011 wedding, but this was our only opportunity for the tasting). First of all, Miya is incredibly communicative. Most of the time, she responds to emails within minutes! Her website is one of the best designed and most informative I've seen, and that coupled with her communication savvy puts my mind completely at ease--we are dealing with a consummate professional. Of course, she was *so* professional that we were surprised to learn that "Piece of Cake" is a one woman operation!! Miya is a full-time social worker who runs this fabulous enterprise on the side and makes all the cupcakes herself in her own kitchen!! For the tasting, she invited us into her home and we sat at her dining room table with glasses of milk she poured for us and breakfasted on fresh cupcakes. $10 got us a tasting of 5 cupcakes for two (we each split one cupcake per flavor), and that $10 will be subtracted from our final order. We sampled the: 1) Classic Vanilla (with vanilla buttercream frosting), 2) Greater Pumpkin (pumpkin cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting and dulce de leche filling), 3) Life Gives You Lemons (lemon cake with lemon curd filling and lemon cream cheese frosting), 4) Rise n' Shine (french toast cake with maple cream cheese frosting and crumbled bacon), and 5) classic Red Velvet (with cream cheese frosting). They were all fantastic, but my personal favorites were the Rise n' Shine and the Greater Pumpkin. The pumpkin actually tasted like pumpkin and the rise n' shine like french toast--which is so rare for spice cakes! The prices are very reasonable for what you get (tinting the frosting and set-up and delivery are included). You can rent a tiered display rack for a modest fee and order custom cupcake liners at cost. Payments are handled through PayPal. I can't begin to express how excited we are for our wedding cupcakes, but we'll be sure to update this review come next fall!

In the world of Covid-19 it's pretty hands off. We ordered 4 things. Cheddar bomb burger, philly cheese steak, tots, and onion rings. Cheddar bomb burger was good. Meat flavorful and lots of oozy cheddar. I would get that again. Philly cheese steak was just meh. Came on a burger bun, and I could not taste the onions and the mushrooms were almost non existent. Meat was ok. Next came the tots. Nice and crunchy and good. Then the onion rings. Not crispy at all. Soggy, and kinda wet. Might have been good hot and maybe fresh out of fryer. About 15 mins after not so much. Willing to give these guys a bit of a break cuz maybe it's an off night. So I would try again. Prices are pretty good. Portion is just okay. Tots ok and onion rings kinda skimpy. Burger decent size. No need for parking and wait staff. We just take it home.
