At around 11am, they were already out if most pastries and desserts but still had a lot of sliced breads available. Thanks to the helpful staff, I picked up a 1 lb loaf of the European Rye (the bread that started it all decades ago) and a cinnamon twist for a treat. Now this is what real bread tastes like! Most of their bread is sourdough based and tastes heavenly. I had a slice of the European Rye to test it out before bringing it home to my family. It was so good, I almost don't want any of my family to have it! The cinnamon twist was gone in a flash. A few seconds in a microwave and the heavenly aroma was all over the office. Both items cost me about $7 in all. I think those are great prices for great products! This place is a little off the beaten path (bakery is in the back... you'll see a cool 1965 vintage Chevy by the door) but it is very much worth the trip!

The multigrain sourdough bread we had there was SO flavorful I had to ask our server about it and she said it was from Awaken Bake Company. Well, that did it for us--we went to their bake shop on a Saturday morning and loaded up on the sourdough, a loaf of ciabatta and a couple of scones. We just completed a tasting with Miya over Christmas break (well in advance of our September 2011 wedding, but this was our only opportunity for the tasting). First of all, Miya is incredibly communicative. Most of the time, she responds to emails within minutes! Her website is one of the best designed and most informative I've seen, and that coupled with her communication savvy puts my mind completely at ease--we are dealing with a consummate professional. Of course, she was *so* professional that we were surprised to learn that "Piece of Cake" is a one woman operation!! Miya is a full-time social worker who runs this fabulous enterprise on the side and makes all the cupcakes herself in her own kitchen!! For the tasting, she invited us into her home and we sat at her dining room table with glasses of milk she poured for us and breakfasted on fresh cupcakes. $10 got us a tasting of 5 cupcakes for two (we each split one cupcake per flavor), and that $10 will be subtracted from our final order. We sampled the: 1) Classic Vanilla (with vanilla buttercream frosting), 2) Greater Pumpkin (pumpkin cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting and dulce de leche filling), 3) Life Gives You Lemons (lemon cake with lemon curd filling and lemon cream cheese frosting), 4) Rise n' Shine (french toast cake with maple cream cheese frosting and crumbled bacon), and 5) classic Red Velvet (with cream cheese frosting). They were all fantastic, but my personal favorites were the Rise n' Shine and the Greater Pumpkin. The pumpkin actually tasted like pumpkin and the rise n' shine like french toast--which is so rare for spice cakes! The prices are very reasonable for what you get (tinting the frosting and set-up and delivery are included). You can rent a tiered display rack for a modest fee and order custom cupcake liners at cost. Payments are handled through PayPal. I can't begin to express how excited we are for our wedding cupcakes, but we'll be sure to update this review come next fall!

Heck yes!…read more I stopped by the Peninsula Coffee House and Market during a weekend trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park this year. I was lucky and snagged a parking space in front of the business; their parking is VERY limited and I'm surprised I didn't have to use a lot that was across a bridge. (Note that the bridge is right by the coffee shop, so it wouldn't have been a long trek at all.) I ordered a Butterscotch Latte and a Sausage, Biscuit & Egg breakfast sandwich; snagged a seat near the front of the store; and settled in for a relaxing break between my hikes. The coffee was excellent and the sandwich really hit the spot! While seating in the lower level is limited, I've learned reading other reviews that there is an outdoor patio and an upper level too. Their website mentions that they run a sundry market here too; however I didn't spend much time shopping in the interest of not stretching my wallet too far during my travels. I also didn't check out the wine cellar in the lower level. While this shop is little, it clearly has a lot to offer, and I am so glad I found it during my visit to Cuyahoga. I'd absolutely stop by again during future visits to the area...and I'd love to time my next visit so I can check out that wine cellar!

Got two other cupcakes- salted caramel and a chocolate one with a cookies and cream type of topping. Neither of those cupcakes seemed to have much flavor. Any flavor there was incredibly subtle.
