Friendliest donut shop around! Would pass up a chain donut shop any day to support this local business!

First time visit... over priced.. Dunkin Donuts is cheaper and the donuts are fresher. Too much emphasis on flavored coffee creams.

The store was beautiful and the baristas were very friendly. However, I got the vanilla bean pour…read moreover and it was awful, I threw it away. My wife got the banana cream cold brew and she liked it. The cold foam was super thick and a little artificial tasting, but good enough. We've heard nothing but good things, so willing to give it a second try, but this visit was not it.

I've been to Goldberry twice, both during a short return trip to this small Ohio town where I grew…read moreup. It's a strange thing, rolling into a place brimming with memory. You find so much the same, seemingly caught in time, and other things have greatly changed. Goldberry is one of those "new to me" additions to Ashland, and every time I walk through its doors, I find myself grateful that it is a part of this town's growth and change. Brightly lit, warmly modern, with touches of wood, crisp white, and greenery, the shop holds ample space to gather together with friends or sit comfortably by oneself, sipping an espresso, cortado, or dirty chai with almond milk (my personal choice today) while people-watching or reading a book. Tall windows line the front of the building, looking out upon a bustling parking lot and side-street as multiple baristas efficiently work away behind the bar. Fresh donuts were being sold at a stand as I entered, along with bagged beans and a variety of other bottled/canned beverages. People sat outside, in groups around larger tables, or in more relaxed leather chairs, animatedly caught up in conversation. Goldberry feels like a true 'third place' in Ashland - not your home, not your workplace, but that third place where you go to meet friends, begin your day, or center yourself before stepping out into the world. It's fittingly named in that light, given that Goldberry is the warmly welcoming, hospitable, and wise woman in JRR Tolkien's work who offers comfort and guidance to questing hobbits, the beautiful and mysterious 'river-woman's daughter' who married the enigmatic Tom Bombadil, a man whose magic was older than time. This coffee shop is all of those things: welcoming, warm, bright, and more than a little magical, glowing like a water-washed jewel - or fairly-sourced coffee bean - in the midst of this ever-changing tiny mid-Ohio town. I'll be back.

I met a friend for coffee around 10a on Sunday morning at Primer. It was my first time at Primer…read more I did drive by the turn in. I did not expect it to be part of a large lifestyle center development. It has been open for a while, but there is still tons of building going on around. The entrance did not say Primer, instead it had a Canvas sign. That was confusing. When we first arrived there were not many people but after about 30 minutes more people arrived. The decor was cozy despite the coffee shop being very large. There were not many pastry choices. My guess it is much busier as a cocktail bar in the evenings.

When you walk into the apartment building, there is also a shared workspace there as well. So there were quite a few people there working and meeting. It was nice to see a hustle and bustle, but I felt almost like at a hotel conference or college campus or something! Ordering was a little tricky too, as you just go up to the bar an order. There's not like a designated place to order, as far as I could tell. So if the bar was all full, it would be really awkward to order for a coffee setting! There was only one person working, so service was really slow. Which I didn't mind, but I also wasn't there working! I wasn't quite sure where I could enjoy my coffee either, since I didn't want to be in the way of any of the shared working groups and meetings. My coffee was DELISH though! I had a hazelnut latte. It was so good! The barista was very nice too. And it's pretty cool that the place is a cocktail bar in the evenings too !

I love walking up Lock 29 to grab a drink to take along with me on my walks! Their parking lot is extremely difficult to deal with if there's some cars there, so I recommend parking down by all the shops & walking up! Easy access on the sidewalk, or you can cut off the trail like I do to get up there. It's worth the hassle!

A coffee shop that I can easily visit between hikes in a national park? Heck yes!…read more I stopped by the Peninsula Coffee House and Market during a weekend trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park this year. I was lucky and snagged a parking space in front of the business; their parking is VERY limited and I'm surprised I didn't have to use a lot that was across a bridge. (Note that the bridge is right by the coffee shop, so it wouldn't have been a long trek at all.) I ordered a Butterscotch Latte and a Sausage, Biscuit & Egg breakfast sandwich; snagged a seat near the front of the store; and settled in for a relaxing break between my hikes. The coffee was excellent and the sandwich really hit the spot! While seating in the lower level is limited, I've learned reading other reviews that there is an outdoor patio and an upper level too. Their website mentions that they run a sundry market here too; however I didn't spend much time shopping in the interest of not stretching my wallet too far during my travels. I also didn't check out the wine cellar in the lower level. While this shop is little, it clearly has a lot to offer, and I am so glad I found it during my visit to Cuyahoga. I'd absolutely stop by again during future visits to the area...and I'd love to time my next visit so I can check out that wine cellar!
