After having already eaten half the sandwich, I realized that the bagel was some sort of Asiago cheese derivative. Now I realize I could have gone in there and asked for the proper bagel, but I'm usually not that kind of patron. I feel that I shouldn't have to confirm that the right bagel is being used and if the normal bagel was unavailable, I should have been notified. So possibly, I should have gone in and asked for a change, but again, the person at the counter wasn't the friendliest, so I opted to just eat my sandwich and leave a 3-star review. The bagel maker, having overheard the exchange, stepped in politely and suggested the cinnamon and sugar bagel as a great substitute--"very similar to the French Toast," he said. And you know what? He was right. This is what good service looks like. It's what's missing from far too many establishments these days--a genuine interest in the customer's experience. From the warm greeting to that small but thoughtful suggestion, the staff at this Bruegger's showed they understand what hospitality means.
