Spent the night in Elyria, Ohio and when searching for a bakery option we discovered the Expresso Bakery. We grabbed cups of freshly brewed coffee and a bag full of delicious baked pastries. We planned to save a few before we got home but were only able to save one. So goood! The staff were excellent and very friendly. This is my first time since new ownership took over. The store is very cute and quaint. The service was okay could have been a little friendlier. The selection they have is great. The donuts looked delicious along with the other baked goods. They have apple fritters, cinnamon rolls,cookies ans fazios I tried the maple donut with peanuta and a cranberry orange muffin. The muffin was good,very strong orange flavor. I like the sugar on top. And I tried a maple peanut donut. Personally I could have used more maple glaze on it just because there was so many peanuts, but it was still good. Also I tasted the vanilla cake donut with glaze. It was pretty flavorful. I got a latte with brown sugar cinnamon. It was alright I will come back again at some point to try a cookie and a fazio. read more

I wish I could write a better review cause it sucks having to say negative things about small businesses. But this was bad. So it started with us picking up the donuts and the person (a girl) behind the counter getting upset with us cause we were early. We pre-ordered the donuts. When we got there, multiple orders were going out the door, before 7am. So we figured we'd get ours early too. Nope, she yelled at us and said "I already told you, you won't get them till after 7am." Even though others were getting them before 7am. Then, when we got them, they didn't have all of them ready. They said they did but once they recounted, they realized they didn't have the full order ready. But it took some convincing to get them to even count and make sure we had all the donuts. Next... the donuts. Half of ours were stale. Like two day old stale. If you look at our picture, the ones on the right side plus a couple (the pink frosted ones especially (all of those for some reason)), those were all stale. The new that weren't stale, they were ok. But when half your donuts especially the ones you daughter wants (the pink sprinkle ones) are stale, it ruins everything and just piles onto the negatives. I don't like writing negative reviews but there just wasn't enough positives sadly. Sorry, but we won't be coming back. read more

I grew up with the Sweet Cream donut shop as a kid (RIP) and I am so glad to see another donut shop succeed in Elyria years later! I moved back to the area this year and have been meaning to give them a try. I came in on a weekday and two friendly employees helped customers get in and out quickly. I was glad to see such a wide selection with a couple gimmicks (think fruity pebbles) and a ton of classics. I got a half dozen to share with family and everyone's favorites were covered! That said, I can't believe I'd gone my whole life without trying a cassata donut and now I'm dreaming of another. Everything was fresh and delicious, but the prices were still pretty comparable to a certain national donut chain. "Expresso Baker" is a misnomer - a name inconsistent with the DNA of the establishment. An espresso is a modest drink often made and enjoyed quickly. Nothing in "Expresso Bakery" follows suit. Indeed, everything here is made from scratch, slowly and with care. It is designed to be enjoyed slowly, though the donuts are so sinfully tasty that it is hard to do so. Do nott make the mistake of coming in for a single donut. You will love whatever you leave with but experience regret that you couldn't enjoy more variety. Instead, grab a dozen to split with friends. On a recent visit I had several and each was better than the last. They serve both the deliciously simple (chocolate glazed) and the creatively complex (vanilla cake with buttercream and fruity pebbles). I've tasted their donuts at numerous parties and events so I know theyre good quality and taste great. However, I just stopped in for the first time yesterday. It was about 11:45 am and they were out of the items I usually look for. I was really looking forward to getting some goodies but seems like you need to stop there shortly after they open. I'll be back again but much earlier. One thing that bothered me though, and maybe I just didn't spot it; but there was no pricing on the donut shelves, nor up on the wall? Please correct me if I'm wrong? Sorry, can't give them a 5 Star review until after I get to make a purchase. read more

Such a cute place! So glad to have this in the neighborhood! The parking is pretty easy (side, convenient, church or street) but it's also pretty walkable, which is a plus. I really like this place because of the variety- delicious donuts (I got the maple apple one, and my dad always gets The Homer.. as in Homer Simpson haha), and amazing drinks. I got the iced coffee with chocolate and it's definitely the best iced coffee around, in my opinion. Another thing thats great about this place is the interior and how cute it is! Excellent donuts and fantastic bagels. The owner is a great guy who was taking a little break outside and chatting with customers as they waited in line. Homer donut was large but dry even though I bought in the morning. Not badly priced- 6 donuts for just under 7 bucks. Apple fritter had decent fried crispy-ish outside but inside was dry and not worthy of eating. Cake donuts were better with a crispy glazed outside and only mildly dry inside. Overall not worth a stop. Only everything flavor bagels were available. Unremarkable place entirely. read more

I really like that there is a fresh donut bakery that is NOT a chain. LOVE the Cassata donut and the apple fritter. The only issue is that donuts that are not iced have been dry the last 3 times I got them, I know that they have to bake early to provide a supply for all of us but maybe there is a better way to store them. In the meantime I am soooo missing the cinnamon roll donuts. read more

This place rocks!! I have been here about 8 times now. Excellent bagels - bst on the west side. Homemade cream cheese is delicious. Outstanding pastries and doughnuts. Decent coffee. Very friendly staff and owner. The only (very small) downside is that it is small inside, so with COVID only 2 customers can be in the store, so the line goes outside on the sidewalk. i place an order for pink cookies and went to pick them up the next day and ask to make another order. After an employee told me I can place the order and have it the next day. The owner stated she is not making them because she did her orders for the day...mind you I explained to her I live 300+ miles and the communication from an employee was different.
