I went to Marta's N More Bakery last week. She has a cute little shop on 4th & Broadway Lorain. I had a very flaky croissant with ham egg and cheese. It was good and very filling. The coffee was strong but that's the way I like it. And the vanilla creamer was good also because they warm it. I brought a crème filled donut home for my husband and he enjoyed that as well. I decided to take my teen son out on an adventure, and we ended up at Marta's bakery in downtown Lorain Ohio. First, I was pleasantly surprised to see the ambience. The air was filled with sweet sensations, and lots of people conversing amongst each other. We proceeded to look at the pastries and ordered a cinnamon roll, Oreo, doughnut, pastry, and some glazed donuts. I also ordered an Americano, which was prepared by the incredible barista Jose. Marta's handmade croissants take me immediately back to France, a country that I have frequently visited. These croissants have a unique taste; buttery, tangy, dense, fluffy and sweet all at the same time. I have regrets that this cute shop has been open for 5 years and I have not gone there before. I was definitely missing out! Lots of variety from sweet and decadent to savory and sumptuous! I ended up buying about 10 different things. I remembered to take pics after we already started eating. The shop is very cute with eclectic decor. Marta is so much fun to talk to. Wow. This is the best bakery I have ever been too. I have never been to an authentic French bakery but if I had this is exactly what I imagine it would smell like - intoxicating aromas of freshly baked bread with a hint of sweetness. Upon walking in you are greeted with the most fluffy, puffy, glistening pastries imaginable. Sweet puffy cinnamon buns and donuts that looked like they were made out of clouds, golden croissants in both sweet and savory flavors, pain au chocolate, and so much more. It was impossible to choose just one item, especially given the extremely reasonable pricing - so I chose 3, the glazed donut, chocolate glazed donut and chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. The glazed donut was originally for my bf until I tried one bite and realized it was the BEST donut I ever had. Donuts are my weakness and I've had alot . This glazed donut is a cloud of fluffy slightly gooey but not too gooey goodness. There's just something so melt in your delicious about this glazed donut that I haven't experienced in a donut before. You have to try this glazed donut !!!! It's perfect plain, perhaps even life changing. The chicken salad was great too - huge chunks of chicken mixed with fresh grapes and celery atop a fluffy on the inside crisp on the outside fluffy baked croissant. Best bread pudding I've had in ages! Get the glaze and it comes warm and super soft. Zero brick like gelatinous goop here- this coconut and pineapple dotted bread pudding is not overwhelmingly fruity at all and the raisins aren't too numerous either. Really delicious and huge in size. read more

So this place is a little cute hole in the wall, but these doughnuts are truly amazing!! We were introduced to them at McConnell's Butcher shop in Avon Lake, but they stopped carrying them shortly after we discovered them. However, the staff there were happy to tell us where they came from and here we are! Hours are short like a typical doughnut shop so get there early if you can. I am partial to the potato chip chocolate frosted doughnut ( I know it sounds ridiculous, but the salty and chocolate sweetness works so well on a doughnut). These are the most amazing donuts!!! You can watch Marta making them right behind the counter. The freshest best tasting donuts I have ever had! All are great but my favorite is the cream cheese filled powdered donut. Every square inch of the donut has filling as she slices them in half and spreads the filling in the donut. Many of my reviews include the word "yum," and this one will be no different. And as I often do, it will be repeated twice more. "Yum, yum!" These are the best doughnuts I've had since I was a little kid, a pretty durn long time now The people who comment that they are expensive leave out the fact that they are also oversized, and so light and fresh they practically float. I am very careful with calories, but these are well worth the expenditure of a few. Well, more than a few. I like Marta's personality also. Go pay her a visit. You won't be sorry. read more
