Flight: Pilsener, Bitter, West Coast Pale Ale, IPA (l to r)
Don N.

Stopped by on the way to Hamilton airport. Glad I did. Had a flight - every beer was good to very good for the style. Had the tacos - two barbacoa tacos that were super delicious. Prices are reasonable, service was great. On the patio, outside a historic building... what more can you ask for? Highly recommend.

Updated review. We had a bit of disappointment with the…read morefood we had on the last visit (Jan 2025) but decided to come back to check new beer items in the menu. We ordered the following. Food: #1 Deep fried calamari #2 Black truffle and Brie steak sandwich (time limited menu) with truffle fries on the side. #1. has been our favourite item here since the first visit. Still the same quality. Tender calamari, pickled sliced hot pepper, cucumber pickles - all coated by super thin-crisp butter. I will order this every time I am here for sure. #2 We ordered this "medium rare". I did not expect much as our last experience with their burger was not good. HOWEVER this one was very good. AAA strip-loin arrived perfect medium rare, with right amount of melt-y/creamy/chunky brie & black truffle aïoli nicely coating it. Caramelised onions added flavour, arugula was fresh. All of them were sandwiched by toasted artisan bun (with no sogginess). Accompanying truffle fries was not impressive though... but the sandwich was so good that I did not expect more from this fries. Drink (beer): Beertown XX Left Field Brewry (East York) Home & Away Hazy APA was sooo good. The beer is special with collaboration with Left field brewery (one of my favourite breweries). In spite of its low ALC %, it had a pleasant crisp and kick. Blessed!!!! We also had # Greenwood IPA - New England (Left Field), risp # HIGH GRADE New England Style IPA (Fairweather, Hamilton) # ELORA BOREALIS New England Style Pale Ale # BONE TREE Single Hop New England Style IPA We felt like going with light, crisp and refreshing ones to enjoy food. Our choice today served our purpose perfectly. Must come back to meet more of new Ontario craft beers! Cheers!

Cocktails are also reasonably priced. It's an inviting place, with some clever beer-themed decor (lights made from kegs), and quite family friendly.

They left so much of the character from the church and it looked great!! It was all done so well! Arched windows and doors, church pews against one wall for seating at the smaller tables. My boyfriend tried two beers while we were there and wound up getting some to go as well. They do have a food menu although we didn't order any food during our visit.

While driving through all the vineyards and countryside, we came across an old church now converted to a brewery. This place hd so much character, so much history, we loved it from the moment we walked in, and were quickly greeted by friendly staff welcoming us into the brewery. They had a good variety of beer styles to choose from, unfortunately time was limited, so we could only stay for 1. I got their "20 Hazy Years iPad, oddly named since they're just now celebrating 13 years in business...but still delicious. I'd absolutely return to this spot given the chance. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely revisit this brewery. Staff was friendly, beer was tasty, and the atmosphere was amazing!

I'm unhappy with the service I received there. I had been give a fifty dollar gift card to…read moreBrothers Brewing Company and they only provided four cans of beer (or I could sit down and drink four pints by myself in the middle of the afternoon - that was the other option). For a retirement gift, my boss had bought $50 gift certificates to six micro breweries in Guelph, which has been great. We've had dinner at some, but at others, I have just bought cans of beer to go (usually I put in a bit more cash and get 18 cans). This place must not have had a proper gift certificate, because I just had a "pint card" (4 beers value - $34) and the balance was rung up as 2 X 473mL lagers, for about $50. I explained to the server that I was sure this was meant to represent a $50 gift card and she said it was just a pint card and my boss must have drank the two tall boys there (while touring around Guelph to get gift cards at 2pm). Anyway, I finally took the 4 cans, which were $34 plus tax, although for $30, you could get 6 cans. I'm probably going on too long about this, but I feel like I was ripped off and this is my only way to deal with it, emotionally. Anyway, I will never go back there again, and please, never buy a gift certificate from this establishment.

The service was attentive although note you need to order at the bar.

The setting for The Grist is incredibly adorable. It gives industrial chic in the best kind of way,…read moreso walking in is comforting and cozy but still sophisticated. The food was more of a 3.5, but I think it was truthfully just what I ordered. For me, the roll was just too greasy to begin and then when they add the Italian dressing it ended up being difficult for me to eat. That being said, it's a given that it would be a heavier dish, but I didn't expect it to be quite so heavy. I stole some fries from my dining partner, and they were yummy. And if you couldn't tell, the pretzel was great (I took a bite before I took a picture. Whoops.) I do believe if I ordered something different (and the menu is quite extensive) I would likely have a better experience with the food, so I'd definitely come back. There were a few times it was difficult to get the attention of our waitress, but it was very busy on the day we were there. All in all not a bad experience, but not a stand out either.

We both grabbed flights, and while everything was solid, there were four beers that totally stood out: * Horchata Wit - creamy, spiced, super smooth * London Fog - light, unique, full of flavour * Cantarito Sour Ale - bright, citrusy, refreshing * Smoke'd Scottish Ale - the most unique beer we've tried in a long time It's rare for a brewery to hit this many home runs in one visit. For our appetizer, we got the Baked Brie-zza, and wow... dangerous. The dough (pretty sure it's house-made) is incredible, and the Brie adds so much creaminess while the fig compote and hot honey round it all out. Just so flavourful and sooo tasty. For mains: * I ordered the Baked Chicken Parm Ziti -- nice and cheesy, chicken cooked well. Noodles were slightly overcooked but I still enjoyed it. * My wife had the Smoked Tuna Tacos, loved them, and powered through the serious spice level Our friends enjoyed their meals and drinks too. And we're 100% coming back. The menu was super appealing and the pizza looked unbelievable -- easily something we need to try next time along with a few other dishes we had our eyes on. Overall? A fantastic experience. Great food, great beer, and easily some of the most memorable flavours we've had in a long time. Interior is decorated nice too, really cool and clean vibes!
