Great local brewery within walking distance of the Sheraton. I had their Ultra Summer which is a witbier very much a Hefeweizen. Was very refreshing on this hot day. Great relaxed atmosphere with good as well. Give them a try.

A Light Bulb just goes on in my head (a moment of sudden inspiration, revelation, or recognition) when I was sampling beers at Merit Brewing. Love their logo! And I do love to be inspired! The interior is spacious and bright. A lot of natural lighting from the large windows at the storefront and of course all these industrial light bulbs gives the place a nice warm glow. You have a choice to do a flight or order individual sampling for what they have on tap. We opt for the later as quite a few of the beers has a high ABV Content but all quite easy drinking. Great place to chill and have a drink or some snacks. The location is great if you are staying or visiting Downtown Hamilton.

This place is incredibly serious about their covid procedures and so I'm confident in being here. That's good because their beer is amazing! I've gone here twice and managed to sample a lot. Their Earl Gray Tripel and the Salted Tequila Lime Gose are both out of this world and great brews to sit back and enjoy. Also, they should open up a Merit Sausage company or something. Extremely flavourful juicy sausages like the butter chicken and sticky rib with the perfect accompaniments. Their beef tallow fries are to die for as well. I'm making it a tradition to come here whenever I'm in Hamilton. Easy parking across the street too.

Came by on a Saturday night and pretty much stayed till closing. Really great place to hangout for drinks and food! We got the nacho fries with the lime crema on the side and 2 beers! The stout (unwritten) was so good!! Fashionably Late had an odd aftertaste. The fries are were delicious and I'd like to try out their plant based sausages next time. The vibe is fun and the space is pretty cool too. I'd come back here again if I'm ever back in Hamilton!

Seat yourself and order at the bar when you're ready! Like every other place, server's level of friendliness depends on the server. Only 1 chick seemed to have an attitude problem, making eye contact with me several times, but not serving me, otherwise the rest of the ladies were quite friendly! It didn't seem that busy to me, but it took quite some time for me to get my flight of beers after I ordered. It seemed like a good 10-15min wait. Dunno what's the hold up of just looking at the order sheet and pulling down on a few levers. Just ok in my books. Crowd is young and it seemed like quite a happening place. Tap room is loud though, so don't expect to have a conversation here.

Hamilton keeps getting better, what a change over the past decade. The restaurants, breweries. Shopping is still lacking. This brewery is a great downtown location! And really good options, also the food looked very good.

GO HERE. Preferably at night. But GO HERE. Great beer, nice patio, food is great. Honestly is a real nice spot in the Hammer.

Cool place! Very hipster local favorite. Craft beer and hand made sausages. Doesn't sound like much but hit all the right points. Good beer selection, plenty of choices of different sausages, including vegetarian. Fries were great. Staff were friendly and excellent service!

This brewery is great! My boyfriend and I stopped by for a flight on a Sunday afternoon. They have a good range of beers (IPAs, gose, sours, etc) and we really enjoyed the ones we tried. My favourites were the Chanan (a "french table beer") and Between Us (a light gose). We didn't try the food but it looked good, too. You go up to order at the bar and depending what you order you bring it back with you or it will be delivered to your table. The space is really beautiful - large footprint, huge tall ceilings and windows, dark woods, edison bulbs. There's a little bottle shop behind the bar (to your left when entering through the front doors) that sells large-format bottles, growlers, and some clothing. Staff was friendly and polite. Would love to go back if I'm in Hamilton again!

My friend and I were trying to find a fun spot to have a drink and thank good ness we found this place. Although this is a brewery we went with the cab and it was great for the only red option. Sad we weren't hungry because the food menu actually looked delicious. My friend is new to the area and we struggled to find a place to just chill and have a drink until Merit. Will definitely be back. Can someone please tell me where more places like this in Hamilton are?

I loved the vibe of this place. The design is very industrial with contrasting black and white pieces and some gorgeous wooden accents. I did a flight of 4 beers: small world, young rival, repeat after me, and nowhere. I loved the small world and it was my favourite. The young rival had a strange smell but it was still yummy. Repeat after me was a bit bland for me but I liked the dryness. Nowhere was amazing; I am not usually a stout person but it was light bodied and had a lot of vanilla come through and the fact that it was 9.6% blew me away. I am giving this place 4 stars because they were very slow to serve me and the bartender seemed unhappy to be working but he was still very helpful once he decided to help. If you're ever in Hamilton give this place a go.

Terrible service, rude bartenders and my card got cloned when I paid debit. Avoid this place if you have any other option.

Hubby and I were looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night and we settled on Collective Arts Brewing in Hamilton. It was our first time there and it's definitely a place worth revisiting. The front part is the tap room for beer sales, and if you drive to the back, you'll get to the outdoor beer garden (with lots of shade) and access to another huge indoor beer hall. We were famished and ordered from Mel's Deli - the sandwiches were hearty and flavourful. We ordered the saucy and spicy meatball hoagie and the not so hot cheesesteak, each were $19 and came with pickles and some kettle cooked chips. The sandwiches were hot, bun was super fresh and were loaded with various toppings and cheese. To pair with the sandwiches, you can order beer on top, canned beer or alcoholic slushies. I opted for a beer flight, 4 samplers of any of the beers they had on top. There are so many options that anyone can for sure find something that they'll like. And to top off the fun outing, line dancing started at 8pm that Saturday and everyone jumped in! A side note for those with kids and dogs, they are all welcome on site! I want to say that every other table had kids. If you're looking for a fun night out, whether it's date night, girls night out or even a family outing, you have to come here!

Thankfully, no live music on this particular Friday and it was a quiet time. Clifford has a big open space, lots of tables inside and out, several beers on tap and even a couple pinball machines. Well worth a visit. [Review 1469 of 2024 - 146 in Ontario - 22492 overall]

(Apparently, the beer/wine industry has been hit hard during the shutdowns, so it's difficult to keep afloat.) In an unassuming industrial area - aren't they all? - the interior is actually quite BIG and they even had pinball machines off to one side. It wasn't crowded at all on a Saturday afternoon, so there's quite a bit of room to keep your distance while enjoying some drinks indoors! (There's no outdoor seating - at least not when I visited.) I had a flight of lagers, IPA, & a Porter and although I usually drift towards the IPAs, their lagers were great too - quite refreshing and light! Bartender was friendly. Deducting a star because they didn't have 2 brews on tap for some reason that I forgot. So I wasn't able to try those, no biggie, picked them up in can form!

The Black Lager, Nut Brown Ale, Tropical Situation, Altar Ego, and Extra Special Bitter were what we tried and they were excellent! Food is superb here too. We started with the Whipped Feta which we tend to get a lot when it's available at different dispensaries and this one was easily one of the best we had. My Buffalo Chicken Burger was so delicious, crispy, and the Gorgonzola cheese added a lot to it as well. My wife ordered the Tofu Tacos which she enjoyed and liked even more when she added pickles that I didn't want from my burger. Wasn't as messy as she thought it was gonna be too! Our fries were nice and crispy and very well seasoned as well. Staff was excellent and gave great recommendations and we had great conversation with him. I know the menu has changed a bit since we went, so we're dying to try the new menu and new beers! Again, highly recommend stopping here!

I decided maybe Virgil was close enough to try it, and oh my goodness - I understood at once why poutine is so popular. If you also hail from a poutine-less area of the world, fear not - done well, it's a great dish. The beer was also excellent. I can see why The Black Lager is Canada's most award-winning Schwarzbier. There are some really good schwarzebiers in my city, and Silversmith's is right up there with them. I also have a Nut Brown Ale, and a small size of the Motueka, both of which I would get again. They know what they are doing with their food and drink. And the atmosphere is really good as well. The old-church-turned-brewery is beautiful. I'll let the pictures in other reviews do it justice. The service was good. It was relatively busy the night I was there, but the service was still quick enough and even a bit conversational - I recall one of the bartenders worked at Silversmith in the warmer months, and travels southeast Asia in the colder months, which is pretty cool. I would likely be a regular if I lived in the area.

Huge kudos to Angelo for some really amazing customer service. He clearly stepped out of what I assume a territory rep would normally be asked to do in patiently walking a customer who doesn't know much about beer through selections and making recommendations. While I would assume that sales are his primary responsibility, it was really refreshing to see a sales rep with this level of customer service for a single customer. All brand ambassadors in area reps should strive for his level of service and knowledge. To say that the beers were all awesome as an understatement. The warm German potato salad served with it was fantastic and I liked that the entree came with a few asparagus spears. The biggest disappointment was probably the margherita pizza. Given the whole menu section dedicated to pizza, I expected better. The dough was fine - springy, though I'd personally prefer a bit more overall crisp. However, the red sauce was terrible.
