Cool vibes, dog friendly, outdoor beer garden with great beer selection and music - what else do you want! Hubby and I were looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night and we settled on Collective Arts Brewing in Hamilton. It was our first time there and it's definitely a place worth revisiting. The front part is the tap room for beer sales, and if you drive to the back, you'll get to the outdoor beer garden (with lots of shade) and access to another huge indoor beer hall. We were famished and ordered from Mel's Deli - the sandwiches were hearty and flavourful. We ordered the saucy and spicy meatball hoagie and the not so hot cheesesteak, each were $19 and came with pickles and some kettle cooked chips. The sandwiches were hot, bun was super fresh and were loaded with various toppings and cheese. To pair with the sandwiches, you can order beer on top, canned beer or alcoholic slushies. I opted for a beer flight, 4 samplers of any of the beers they had on top. There are so many options that anyone can for sure find something that they'll like. And to top off the fun outing, line dancing started at 8pm that Saturday and everyone jumped in! A side note for those with kids and dogs, they are all welcome on site! Had Life In The Clouds which is an IPA and quite buttery. The Local Press Apple & Cherry cider is a nice dry one. The Stout was knock your socks off type, totally unexpected. The Mango Lime Jalapeño Gose is a nice summery type of drink. The service was decent and a huge up charge for the price of the can if bought in the store. Tonight there was an antique market ambiance and it was disappointing that there wasn't much sitting spots. It didn't feel like a brewery place experience. Headed back from Toronto to the States we detoured to Collective arts. The art work by up and coming artists and musicians is impressive! They have a large beer garden but we were here in the afternoon so to the bar we went. We tried four IPA's and settled on the Good Monster and the Life in the Clouds. Also tried the Hazy State and Ransack the Universe. Hazy was just too lite. I liked Ransack but Good Monster was better. We also inquired about a Gose and not having one on tap, the bartender opened a can of Guava Gose for us. We're not fans yet, but don't mind them. This one had notes of Cilantro, which I thought tasted more like tarragon. Hit up this place just for the art and to try some good beer. You won't be sorry! read more

My brother and sister-in-law got me some sparkling water from Collective Arts Brewery. I love sparkling water, and overall these were fantastic. The flavours were cool and also very potent. I love that breweries have jumped onto the sparkling water bandwagon, because I don't drink beer, lol. The flavours I tried were White Peach Cardamom, Black Currant Thyme, Coconut Lime, Black Cherry Vanilla, and Cucumber Lemongrass Lime. Black Cherry Vanilla was my favourite. It had a strong cherry flavour and tasted "sweet" even though there is no sugar. The Coconut Lime was reminiscent of flavours at Thai restaurants. The White Peach Cardamom, was mostly peachy with just a tiny hint of spice. The Black Currant Thyme had a good black currant flavour to it. I thought the addition of thyme would make it taste weird, but it did not. It added a slight herbal element to it, which was not unpleasant. The Cucumber Lemongrass Lime one was odd. Not as objectionable as I thought it would be, haha, but I wasn't really a fan. They call these "Sparkling Botanical Water." I went on the website to see if there are other flavours, but they only have those 5 flavours. Cans are sold in packs of 4 for $8.95 or packs of 12 for $19.95. read more

We popped in here after our first set of hikes as you were chasing waterfalls in Hamilton. We didn't have any reservations but saw online that you could do first come first serve and thought we would take our chances. when we got there, there were a lot of open tables, yet there wasn't any thing available for us to be seated right away. We were patient and asked if we could wait a bit because we had heard great things and really wanted to try the beer and food. We saw a few people leave and noticed on the reservation system that there wasn't anyone coming yet we were told that we still needed to wait my friend decided to talk to the manager who was kind enough to seat us down right away as we told them we were from Toronto. The service was great we got served relatively quickly minus the fact that we had to ask for water a few times and it was a really hot day. I decided to get the flight I tried two beers and two seltzers. I ended up having the pork belly bun as my lunch and had two servings of which the second one I shared with one of my friends. The pork belly is cooked to perfection and the extra sauce that comes with was delicious. My friend who had the mushroom buns really enjoyed her food as well. The corn salad was interesting we thought it would be a little bit more sweet and it was more so on the saucy tangy side not something that we would have again but the buns were definitely worth it. One thing I really liked about the beer garden is the art there are a lot of painted walls that are different and beautiful. read more

LOVED THIS BREWERY! I've always been attracted to their cans (such lovely art) and have never been disappointed by their beer. It was really fun to visit the actual location. Fun street art on the outside and a good setup with lots of places to sit (and it's dog friendly!). We each got a flight (which is 4 beers here) and got to sample Gose, IPA, Porter and a sour. They were all lovely. So many nice flavours and ideas. They were sadly sold out of the odd Orange chicken #9 or something like that. I was REALLY curious to try it (no chicken in the beer, of course, just the flavour profile I guess) They also had Grandad's Dounts if you want to soak up some of that beer. The designs on the cans and the coasters of Collective Arts Brewing is just Work of Arts! How many times I ended up buying their beers just for that pretty can? The modern design, the vibrant colours! Luckily the beers were good too! Finally, I got to come by the Brewery and talked to the people behind the beer and I was not disappointed! The tap room has a great selection of crafted beer on taps and a lot of them not even available from my local LCBO! I also got to sample some collaborations which Collective Arts co brewed with local businesses. Monster Donut X is alcohol upfront at ABV 11.5% but have this donut sweetness that lingers as after taste. Their Raspberry Sours at ABV 5.5% tasted like fruit juice. Their IPAs also fruity and enjoyable! The staff here all really nice and friendly. I highly recommend sitting at the bar area and do some beer talk with them. The best experience ever! BTW, if you want one of your artworks be featured on one of their beers, you can submit your artworks via their website! One of their coasters features artwork of artist from Thailand which is just so cool! read more

I really enjoy Collective Arts Brewing so very much! Not only do the feature artwork on cans by local artists but film and music as well! I love it when the arts get supported but that isn't the only reason I'm giving Collective Arts five stars. Their beer recipes are different and very enjoyable! The last beer that I've had by this brewery was an Earl Grey Wheat which was fantastic and finding Earl Grey in a beer just isn't all that common! Another beer I've had from this brewery was Jam Up The Mash which was a sour beer which was very good as well! I had another beer here too, also a sour a Guave Gose which was a joy to drink as well but I was really stuck on the Earl Grey beer because I love Earl Grey! The artist support doesn't end with just that. They sell apparel with artwork with the artists they are collaborating with and the selection is added to and changed fairly often so it's a good idea to check frequently for new designs on their clothing as the options there are very intriguing. read more

In Wisconsin i learned how to appreciate a wide range of tastes and flavors, and liked trying experimental brews. Some of them are good but rarely better than the main-run lines of a given brewery. Visiting Toronto i took a gamble on this interesting looking can/ brewery and i must congratulate them on creating easily the nastiest vinegar forward putrescence to emerge from fermentation since the Olmecs mixed lye and hominy corn and let it sour in the sun a few days. Collective Arts is one of my all time fave Canadian micro brews. It all started for me after drinking one of their "life in the clouds" IPA's. They have a strong lineup of regular brews then they have a constantly changing lineup of experimental sours and other delicious brew concoctions. My all time fave sour was the blueberry cacao sour. Their Boysenberry- blackberry sour is very close second. I also do love a good guava gose, their raspberry is super puckerlicious (more so than the nickelbrook). Some of their beers I will say I have liked less than others but their lineup is always changing. Price has sneaked up in recent years as popularity has increased (you can't blame them). The brewery has more options than the LCBO. Always awesome...keep up the great work! read more

Note: I'm not super familiar with Hamilton, but this place is located in a strange, transitional area. However, it didn't seem super out-of-the-way if you're in any popular places in the City, so it's worth dropping by! I've been here a couple of times and the staff is very friendly! No need to feel intimidated here, even if you're not a "bar" or "beer" person. If you let them know what your tastes are like, the staff will gladly make some suggestions for you. One criticism I have is that the layout is sort of strange. The building from the outside is GINORMOUS, but the tap room, in comparison is on the small side + STANDING ROOM ONLY, no chairs. AND the separate room on the side makes no sense. Why is it somewhat closed off? There's absolutely no reason for this, open this room up and make it into a larger space! Oh, one more criticism/note, there's no food here. So just expect to have a drink, flight, &/or to buy some cans. That's it! read more

I've had their beers plenty of times at different restaurants and straight from LCBO. Rhyme and Reason, Stranger than fiction and their Porter are to name some. Was great to get to try some of their other ones. Not a huge fan of their sour ones but like a few that we tried and bought a few cans. Their flights are cool to check out a few diff types. Collective Arts is like that one friend who lives a completely different life than everyone else. Way on the North end, next to the steel mills and the water it's kinda of a walk from Hollywood. It's a big facility, looks like an ice rink, but apparently I was the old Lakeport Brewing sight. A collab between Nickel Brook and Collective Arts to create Arts & Science Ltd. Coming in the winter is completely different than the summer. It's cold, dark, exposed, but in the summer that entire back parking area is a sort of make shift open air patio for concerts and events. Since the inside is kinda of small they have to bring in portapoties when they make use of the outside area. The inside bathroom is small and in the back, right next to some tables, so be wary. Outward facing railed high top with a few bar seats, minimal coat hooks which is weird. The menu reads like they do quite a bit of their business to go, cans, bottles, growler fills (very open policy). I love the weekly growler fill special for like $13 or less which is like a steal. Small back room is lined with the hundreds of collabs they done with bands, local artists for the labels. I'm not sure how collaborative they are with the beer, but don't try and collect them all, it's already too many to catch up. Prices are par for the course. I wished for some nitro's. Staff is amazing, knowledgably, friendly, helpful, even bringing and taking your beers. Basically table service, that's a first. We sampled the lot, bought a few pints and took a few growlers to go. They have board games, but lack seating. We didn't get to see the warehouse or really even what the back looks like. The beers were somewhat true to style, but interpreted on the bold side. The Blonde is on the mild side as with the session beers. IPA is also sessionable. I loved the west coast pale ale, they really get what we are doing back home. The ciders have been here from the beginning and are here to stay, well liked by a local friend who has been drinking ciders for 10+ years. It's not just about tangible art, and music, they delve into support of visual, film, anything creative. It's really a sight to see the spread of creativity. They keep things local while expanding internationally. read more

This is some of my favourite beer to buy at home so I needed to visit the brewery. It was very quant and comfortable. There was amazing art everywhere. The bartender I dealt with was super friendly and funny. I ended chatting with a cool guy from Hamilton at the bar. It was really all that I was hoping for. The beers I tried were all really good and the Pina colada sour was so good that I took a 4 pack with me. I asked if I could grab a couple coasters to take home with me and he just handed me a huge stack and let me grab whichever I fancied. I can see myself coming back to visit Hamilton and when I do this will be on my list of places to go. read more

I have never been here. But I have been to the LCBO and a couple of bars in Toronto. And I have had a few Collective Arts brews. In cans. And on tap. And yes I am a fan. Particularly I have to say that the new IPA No. 3 is superior. Maybe it's because I just had one, but it is truly a fine beverage. At 7.1 % it packs a punch but has a nice balance of bitter hoppy floral and sweet. When we get around to visiting Hamilton this is going to be high on the list of places to check out. read more

I have yet to meet a Collective Arts brew I don't like. From their IPAs to their cider to their dry-hop sour, I'll happily imbibe them all while admiring the various rad artwork adorning them. I'm not a huge stout fan, but I'll grab one from here occasionally to have with a scoop of vanilla ice cream - hello boozy ice cream float! My positive feelings toward this brewery also extend toward its staff. I've never met one I didn't like. Typically meeting them at music-related events they sponsor, I always share a nice chat while getting my free sample. Having now finally visited the brewery to pick up a keg and some growlers over the weekend, I can also say the in-house staff is lovely. They were dealing with downed servers when we arrived and while obviously stressed about the wrench this throws into payment processing and overall operations for the day, the staff was nothing but friendly and accommodating, working with us to find the easiest way to complete the pick-up, payment, and drop-off without too much extra hassle. They also have a little bar area where you can have a couple beers if you're interested. Its not the coziest, but it works. I'm intrigued by the much larger beer garden area on the far side of the building. Being the middle of a Friday afternoon when I visited, it was completely empty, but I would love to be around to see it in action for any large events they might have in the future. read more

We are visiting Hamilton for the first time. When I read about Collective Arts, it almost sounded too good to be true. We got the opportunity to visit their newly opened beer garden on a warm July day. The folks working the taps in the garden were very hospitable and didn't hesitate to offer us tasters of different beer options so we could find the best beer for our afternoon. The beer garden was spacious and clean. There was room to enjoy the sun or hide in some shade. And you could still catch some breezes coming off of the lake. You can't go wrong with good beer and a good place to sit. We look forward to coming back on our next trip! read more

Meh, this is an average brewery for me. I really want to like it but the beers are usually not impressive to me and taste pretty same-y. They also usually have way more sour beers than anything else which is a let down since I don't enjoy sour beers. Also, selling donut monster beers in packs of 4 only is a really good way to keep off customers. If I drive down and I want to buy one to take home and try I can't, and I'm not going to spend $20+ on beer from a brewery I'm always taking a gamble on anyway. read more
