Small brewery but very fun. Lots of options for flights and great snack food menu. Worth a visit

Willibald Farm Distillery & Brewery - Gin

    Willibald Farm Distillery & Brewery

Willibald Farm Distillery & Brewery is a great spot for a "get together and hangout for hours" sort…read moreof place. Their location is out on a working farm and distillery so it is out of the way via a country road. Their restaurant is great with indoor and outdoor patio seating. Would recommend indoor due to flies and weather. Their drinks are very good and their food surprisingly excellent for a place that's mainly a distillery. We were here as a group of 6 and ordered a bit of everything. Our order: - Caesar Salad (decently sized, everyone got some) - Mushroom Pappardelle (excellent sauce and very silky, every pasta noodle had loads of sauce, the best part of the meal) - Bee Sting (great pizza, comparable with places that just focus on pizza) - Cheese Monger (all the cheese pizza) - Truffle Funghi (not too strong of truffle, just enough and it all came together nicely) - Ontario Burratini (a great bread + dip with peaches, second best part of the meal) Drinks: - Gin Mule (basically a Moscow mule but with Gin) - Spritz (cherry) The service was amazing, food started coming out around 10 mins after ordering. Ordering did take a while as they were quite busy. The attached store sold their brand of drinks, some of which you only could get there. Lots of customers came and went with cases of drinks. We got some gin to bring home as well. They have a drinks stall at St. Jacob's if you are in the area (no restaurant though). For a distillery, not only do they have great drinks, but all their food seems well thought out and a great choice all on its own. The only con is that they are pretty out of the way, but worth the day trip. They have ample parking and you can hangout on the lawn for as long as you like. They have an outdoor bar as well as corn hole and tables for you to hangout at. Board games and picnic blankets encouraged.

The service was excellent, the server made every effort to get to know our names and was very attentive. We ordered a number of dishes, including the funghi pizza and the chicken cutlet. We also got a number of drinks, including their large selection of beer and the delicious gin cocktails. We sat out on their patio, which was lovely. I had a wonderful time and I'm looking forward to coming back for the amazing food and beautiful farm!

I gotta say that it wasn't easy to spot this brewery. We had…read moreto call and ask to help us out to get to the location. This is a co-op type of brewery and from their own web site, this is how they describe themselves: "Our team has been working together for two years to bring this brewery to Kitchener. Each one of us brings a different perspective to this venture and a very unique set of skills formed by our diverse experiences. We have babysat for one another, met each others' parents, and celebrated each others' milestones, becoming much more than just colleagues in the process". Despite TWB doesn't serve the kind of beer I like because I found it to be too hoppy for me, my friend who like a much broader type of beers found this to be very, very good. Porbably one of the best top 3 experienced in the entire Waterloo/Kitchener area. So, since the standards my friend and I apply to the service and food industry are the same, I believe that the product TWB provides to its customers are of high standards. The brewery is small and very welcoming. We had the luck to meet with Shawn and Alex who introduced us to their product and the TWB phylosophy. They welcomed us with enthusiasm and promptly engaged in a conversation. You could tell they did not because they were trying to sell you something or because "we gotta do it because it's our job". They did it because that's what they like to do and because they believe in what they do. So, if you are in town, please, go and pay them a visit. It's worth your time. You might leave Kitchener with a couple of more friends on your address book. :) See you again soon.

Counterpoint Brewing - Opens sorta late, 1pm on a Saturday!

3/5 - Website experience, value 5/5 - Experience AT brewery,…read moreservice Whenever I visit a new City, I always inevitably check out their breweries and Counterpoint was one that I missed last time I was in Kitchener. However, I was able to catch them this time! Before you head out, check out their Hours of Op via Google. They're closed half of the week and they open relatively late. I'm a bit torn about this brewery as I had a pleasant visit and the lone female running the place was awfully nice. However, $8/can of beer??!! I did ask the girl if my eyes were deceiving me and she confirmed that their cost of materials/operation went up significantly after the Pandemic. :( I completely understand this, especially since they're a small batch brewery. Although I feel for this small business, $8/can is completely cost prohibitive. Their Pints ($12)/Flights ($15/4 x 2oz glasses), although on the "higher-end" is inline with other bigger city breweries. Not sure how they keep these prices within normal range while their cans are about twice that of LCBO/Beer Store! I don't know whether to feel bad or complain about this pricing, but I'm sure they already know the general sentiment about this. One thing that I MUST complain about is that they offer a store discount if you subscribe to their newsletter off their website. However, there's very, very little available online as most of their items seem to be "sold out". Not a great impression on that offer.
