Beer!
Lisa V.

I've been to other Beertown locations and this one did not disappoint! Great location, free parking and large patio. The food is standard pub food and it is all good. Great beer selections on tap, rotating taps and can/bottles. Their flights are very popular! Make a reservation!!

How is this place not a solid 5.0? Insanely good staff. Insanely good food. Insanely good vibes. I'm almost sad it's my last day in the Oshawa area because this restaurant absolutely slaps. The bartender - Chris I think? True professional. Does Canada proud. The double standard burger? Pretty good. The hot chicken? Out of this world. And the beer selection has something for everyone. Frankly, I think the value (price compared to what you get) is spot on as well. Give this spot a try if you're considering it.

Shrimp Pad Thai

New pub/beer restaurant in the mega Whitby plaza. Inside is very large and spacious and you can see the kegs all over the place. We sat outside the patio and ordered food right away because we were hungry. I had the pad thai and my wife had the turkey burger. The food menu was easy, picking what beer to have was hard! So many choices, so we ended up getting a flight "paddle" of beer. The 4 x 5oz was too much liquid for us. We could have shared one paddle. My wife's burger was tasty but super messy but the sweet potato fries were very good. My pad thai was over sauced, and not authentic but I expected it based on the restaurant we were eating at. Good food, amazing selection of beer and okay service (they were slow in terms of attentiveness). Will go back for sure.

It was a mingling type of event with finger foods, including Bruschetta Crostinis, Cheeseburger Sliders, Fried Chicken Sliders, Spring Rolls, Coconut Shrimps, and Assorted Flatbreads. Everything was really good, with very generous portions that resulted in lots of takeout containers. The food, drinks, venue, and staff were all excellent! The DJ provided a great mix of music all evening.

I remember that I was very disappointed by the food, but at that time, I thought that they were just doing some experimentation to introduce interesting Asian fusion food in this culinarily underwhelming town of Whitby. Thought it would be a good try. So I decided to come back maybe after this place settled more, but then COVID hit. And we never had a chance to come back until today. Unfortunately, the food experience was even worse this time. And their beer went very far from my beer preference, serving a lot of beers with wacky flavors - looks like those beers are taking over their craft beer lineups. Food: We had # Charred octopus with seasoned tomato sauce, chorizo, Calabria chili, ink tapioca crisp. Well, Octopus did not have "charred" flavor. Surface had no crispness. The portion was huge, but the octopus was rubbery texture, dry. The tomato sauce underneath it was just too much for the octopus portion. Over-seasoned & salty tomato sauce with additional salt and spice from chorizo pieces. Do they want to make me thirsty to sell more beer? Yes that might have worked, and unfortunately it didn't. I waited for our server to order another beer but it took her more than 15 minutes to come to our table . # Jagerschnitzel : Essentially, schnitzel. Came with braised red cabbage, apple sauerkraut, Yukon mashed potato with "mushroom sauce". Schnitzel was endlessly huge but dry. Mushroom sauce tasted like can or some pre-made cheap & junky taste. A lot of mashed potatoes. Well suited for those who want to get a lot of comfort food to fill stomach with no intention of enjoying delicacy. Beer was OK. They have rotating beer selections on tap. We had tap beers such as IPA, Scotch Ale and Premium Pilsner. IPA was not as good, it left a lot of one-dimensional bitter aftertaste. If I want IPA then I will go to Town Brewery. Premium Pilsner was good. We also had Scotch Ale which was also good with nice Scotch aftertaste. Do I come back? No, if the food quality remains the same.

One of the staff recommended eats is the cheeseburger and duck wings. The smash burger and fries is very addicting. Maybe one of the best smash burgers I've had in a while. The duck wings are a generous portion size and a tasty sticky kind of goodness. We originally wanted brussel sprouts but it sold out so opted for the beet salad which is pretty good too. All in all, I'm surprised the food is so good! I may have enjoyed it more than the flight of beers we ordered. I told the staff to choose a selection for us. The CPA is one I prefered most among the ones I tried, with a bit more floral or complex notes than the rest. This family-run brewery and restaurant was converted from a small church and has been opened for a couple of years. Find your own seat, order and pay in the front and food would be sent to your table. The tip range suggested the same as a full service restaurant. There are six communal tables and also enclosed sheds outside for additional seating.

The Black Lager, Nut Brown Ale, Tropical Situation, Altar Ego, and Extra Special Bitter were what we tried and they were excellent! Food is superb here too. We started with the Whipped Feta which we tend to get a lot when it's available at different dispensaries and this one was easily one of the best we had. My Buffalo Chicken Burger was so delicious, crispy, and the Gorgonzola cheese added a lot to it as well. My wife ordered the Tofu Tacos which she enjoyed and liked even more when she added pickles that I didn't want from my burger. Wasn't as messy as she thought it was gonna be too! Our fries were nice and crispy and very well seasoned as well. Staff was excellent and gave great recommendations and we had great conversation with him. I know the menu has changed a bit since we went, so we're dying to try the new menu and new beers! Again, highly recommend stopping here!

I decided maybe Virgil was close enough to try it, and oh my goodness - I understood at once why poutine is so popular. If you also hail from a poutine-less area of the world, fear not - done well, it's a great dish. The beer was also excellent. I can see why The Black Lager is Canada's most award-winning Schwarzbier. There are some really good schwarzebiers in my city, and Silversmith's is right up there with them. I also have a Nut Brown Ale, and a small size of the Motueka, both of which I would get again. They know what they are doing with their food and drink. And the atmosphere is really good as well. The old-church-turned-brewery is beautiful. I'll let the pictures in other reviews do it justice. The service was good. It was relatively busy the night I was there, but the service was still quick enough and even a bit conversational - I recall one of the bartenders worked at Silversmith in the warmer months, and travels southeast Asia in the colder months, which is pretty cool. I would likely be a regular if I lived in the area.
