Showed up after a tough day and losing my dog. I wanted to take my frustration out on food. Came to a solid place. The craft beer was delicious, had an IPA. Ordered the Nashville hot sandwich, it was a big sammich, a little lob sided And to further drench my sorrow, the brisket poutine. The misses had the same sammy sand chose to go with the Asiago fries. The sammich was great, the house hot sauce was delicious. The suicide sauce was missing a bit of a spice but was hot and tasty. Now the Asiago fries were good, but the poutine needed some work - the gravy was too thick and not hot enough. The brisket was an ok amount but it was more or less crispy. With a hotter and thinner gravy the cheese would have melted better, and the brisket would have likely been much more tender. Had the brisket poutine been better crafted this would have been a 4/5 meal. Service was good, no discount on the bill. When you charge 12 bucks for a side poutine, it should be good to great. read more

Just stopped in to pick up some beer on a recommendation. There was a good sized patio with decent amount of shade for these hot days. I was not able to try the food but will be back for sure. I did pick up a selection of beers. I would have to say the highlight was the Watermelon Lager. It was so good. A cool crisp and refreshing beer that went down all too well. Gord and I had lunch today at Barnstormer Brewing Co. ... Gord loves craft beer and it's one of the reasons we spent two days in Barrie. They have a shop where you can buy beer to take home (Gord did) and swag. They brew their own beer onsite. Gord started with a Windshear Watermelon and had two other styles ... I stuck with pop as I was driving home. Gord ordered Cap'n Mac n' Cheese. He said it was delicious and he would get it again. He said having the salad was a nice accompaniment because it was so refreshing. I had a pizza with pepperoni and bacon. It was really good. I ate half and took the other half home (for lunch tomorrow). The dough was made with spent grain. They strain the barley they have added to make their beer. They give most away to feed local cattle but they keep some to add in their pizza dough. Missy and Sarah were our servers. They were really nice and friendly. We'll be back! read more

This review is for the beer 'store' part of the location. We did not eat in the restaurant. We stopped by to pick up beer. We waited quite a while (5 to 7 minutes) for anyone to notice we were waiting. I was a bit frustrated. There was not a wait staff person in site to even hale down. Once service arrived it was great. We enjoyed the beer we bought. Would I recommend: Likely, the beer was worth the wait. Would I return: Yes - it's possible it was just an off night, or they had an impromptu meeting on some issue with staff for 5 minutes. This is a MUST for anyone travelling to or through Barrie. We were attracted by the extensive local craft brew menu and the idea of some Fancy pizza to go with it. The location is not brilliant in a bit of a strip plaza but they've done a nice job of creating an outdoor seating area that is charming and quiet... although t wasn't on the night we were there... We had a small high table for two back by the bar and Pollux took amazing care of us. He was charming and gave PERFECT recommendations on cider for me and beer for my husband. We started with the mussels and the crab cakes - always a tough one to get right and easy to screw up - And we were very pleased with both. Generous portions on the mussels and REAL crab in the crab cakes with a beautiful spicy sauce and side-salad. Our only complaint is that our pizza took a while to come out BUT it was only because of a large party of 17 that includes the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau who was In town and passing through!! So seemed like a reasonable excuse We has the Cat III chicken pizza and the hot sauce with it was to die for. The night continued to get better and better as we sampled more amazing local beer - highly recommend the Hard Landing for those with a taste for IPA - and our PM Justin socialized with all the patrons. He and the restaurant and staff were all both charming and down to earth. As our last night before picking up our kids from summer camp it is hard to imagine it getting any better. We went there on a weeknight, the service was mediocre, and the food took quite a while to arrive. My pizza tasted bland as if it was reheated from frozen, and my husband said his burger was also fairly tasteless. Little to no ambiance, except for the complaints of the two waitresses standing by the bar about the other patrons in the restaurant and fellow staff members. Came here with friends after a couple hours of painting and was pleasantly surprised. Service was quick and friendly, and they were super considerate of the fact that we were on a tight schedule. Tried the watermelon beer which is a nice summer beer with a watermelon finish and no overly sweet taste. The lagers are relatively unmemorable according to my friend. The pizzas are what people come for (apparently), and they look like nice thick crusted pizzas. I tried the fried chicken (which was good, though a little over fried and overly battered/covered), and my friend had the fish n' chips (which was good, but way over battered and a little over-fried/dry). The fries were good, but a little overdone (which I much prefer to underdone, but is not for everyone). They have a bottle shop next door, so you can pick up their craft brews to go! Not too shabby of a place! I liked their merch hanging in the front entrance. I came here on a late Friday afternoon for some after work bevys. It was pretty smokey inside but it didn't bother me. The food looked and smelled great. I partook in a flight of 4 brews which I enjoyed thoroughly. I wish the watermelon beer wasn't sold out. Do I need to offer any star? I think the star is for the location which is great. The service was very rude and abrupt, the bill was over billed, the croutons tasted like bug spray, the wings were tiny, half done, and certainly did not take like Buffalo but did taste like a sugary Chipoltle. The $50.00 bill was 14 scrappy wings, about a cup of nice Romaine with the nasty, had to eject them, croutons, and about a cup of plain cold fries. After asking for cutlery and even a napkin it took 3 people to look at me, go and get a few. You. Know. The food is really good. So is the beer. However, we had a small birthday party, all desperate bills and without consent or notice, they automatically charge an 8% tip to your bill. For downtown Toronto even, that's steep. However in Barrie, where small business work hard to earn money, it is very disappointing. The screwed up our orders and double charged me, they argued with me and wouldn't rerun me the over charge. Keep away if you are coming as a party. read more

Came here for the brewery tour since I was passing through Barrie. Being a small brewery, I truly enjoyed the home feel of the staff and tour guide taking us in the back and giving us a detailed account of the brewing process, including the history of how they brewery came to be. I appreciated our guide also giving us a few samples to try, all the way back from the grains. Definitely helped decide what to order later. I opted for a flight tour, based on the recommendations from the guide and our server. The polar pumpkin brew was quite a surprise, and the billy bishop brown would be a favourite of mine-smooth and easy to drink. I cannot comment on the food, but my experience for the brewery tour was excellent and would recommend it if you are in the area and looking for something to do. read more

Non-descript location easily found thanks to comments from reviewers and Waze. Once inside... fun decor in theme with the name. Great service .... very knowledgeable, energetic and fun waiter. Started with baked to order pretzel piping hot from the oven served with a fabulous cheddar mustard dipping sauce. An experimental item that I hope makes it to the menu. We ordered the Barnstormer Burger and the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Both were shared and devoured. The burger was a perfect size... not too big, not too small handmade burger... nicely cooked ... flavourful and moist. The chicken sandwich had a nice kick to it and was also moist. Fabulous fries could have ordered just one side of fries since we had the pretzel first. We tried a flight of beer... had fun with trying new beers. Loved some, others not so much.
