In this fairly small city on Lake Simcoe, there seemed to be few options of places to grab some food. We basically chose it by default and convenience.. Super great choice. At first the prices seem a little high for pub food, until your food arrives and the portion is HUGE. Everything tasted great from the sweet potato burger to the honey garlic caesar chicken fingers. Service was wonderful, witty and friendly. The place doesn't look like much, but we were pretty satisfied with our choice when we left. read more

Boycott Simcoe Arms!!! My wife was working late last night so I asked my son what he wanted for dinner & said Simcoe arms...he lovesthere burgers...I had the cheesesteak sammy & chkn soup & 1 Stella...All was good till I tasted the chkn soup which I found fishy tasting...by the end of the meal I only ate a quarter of the soup & asked the waitress to take it back because it tasted bad, like fish...she said others have sent it back & have said the same thing...the waitress was nice enough to take it off my bill when I asked The next morning was quite a different awakening then normal...nothing was nice about multiple bathroom visit's including spending 5hrs on & off in a porta John on a construction site, which we all know are the most cleanliness toilets around...I called just aftr opening & talk w/ a very rude manager, who said there was nothing wrong w/ there soup & if I was "that sick" I should go to the hospital...I said I'm a local resident who frequently dines there & can be there by 2:30 so we can talk about it more in depth. When I asked for the manager, she was quick w/ the attitude & very defensive on the fact I was there..."why are you here" she said several times...i said I don't want free food, I don't want my money back for the whole meal I'm just hear to say that something was wrong w/ the soup maybe you should look @ the situation...by the end of the conversation I said again I'm a local but my family & i will BOYCOTT THE ARMS because of VERY BAD CUSTOMER RELATIONS FROM MANAGER & BAD FOOD!!! She did not offer me an apology, on the phone or in person for anything I feel like there was no care or remorse on making a customer feel so helpless & dwn played the whole experience...again WE WILL BE BOYCOTTING THE ARMS!!! I post 1star because I have to but if I could I would leave a -5 stars...you don't talk & treat customers like that!!! read more

Our group oh six went to this pub tonight and had a very nice meal. It's a spacious homey pub and n cottage country. I ordered a spinach salad with salmon and it did not disappoint although I did think the prices were slightly high for what it was. But everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere. They had a guy playing jazz on a piano which was nice. I would go back here again if I'm ever in the area. read more

There are few places where the atmosphere is as inviting as the Lake Simcoe Arms. Pub fare at its finest. Although this visit was simply to enjoy their selection of desserts, the visit was worth the stop. No matter what you had to eat at the Arms, be sure to leave room for the Bread Pudding. The warm cake, smothered with caramel sauce is to die for and the coffee warm and fresh. The kids enjoyed a huge piece of decadent Chocolate Loven cake drizzled with chocolate sauce - which they devoured, leaving nothing but crumbs. My compliments do not stop with dessert, as the wait staff were accommodating and friendly. When one of the kids were being challenging, as they are at times, over their dessert, she went beyond expectation to ensure everyone was happy with their experience. Only one word of warning --- although the patio is large, it does fill up quickly on a beautiful summers day. Be sure to claim your seat early :-). read more

Dirty beer taps. Sour/skunky tasting domestic draft beer. Dirty kitchen. Old outdated decor. Tired dining room. Mismatched lighting. Nachos were blah. Tasteless salsa and guac from a tube. One redeeming feature is the patio tho! Fantastic on a sunny day, I'd say, find another place if you can tho. read more

I decided to try out Simcoe Arms with a friend this weekend, after driving past it so many times on the way to the cottage. Though they had great service, lots of parking, and a beautiful patio, the food itself was unenjoyable. I am a lover of fish tacos, but this restaurant ruined my experience by making them really acidic and spicy. The tiny pieces of fish tasted like chicken fingers, and were stuffed with salad mix. No creaminess or flavour, except for the overwhelming acidity from the vinaigrette. My friend who got the buffalo chicken wrap said the same. Not coming back here for lunch, but maybe a just beer next time. read more

In Sutton and Jackson's Point there aren't many options for eateries or bars. That's why it kills me to say that I dread the thought of eating anything at this establishment. I have ordered food a few times, and when it is not terrible, I'm surprised. A few years ago my stepdad ordered a meat sandwich (I can't remember which meat it was), and it was undercooked (still pink). He got food poisoning that night, even though he only had two bites before sending it back. My food has always been subpar when I eat there, but it's never really THAT bad. The service is usually terrible. I have been on my own a few times to watch some hockey games, and when you're sitting at the bar, the bartender is nice and often doesn't leave your glass empty. That's what gives this place the extra star. If you're with a group, you're often waiting a terribly long time for your food, and just service in general. They have a nice patio, but you still have to deal with everything mentioned above. It's an alright place, but I don't LIKE coming here. I wish there were better options nearby. read more

What's with the super vague reviews...? This place is great. The food was amazing, there's 2 floors (i think?). The upstairs is a cozy party room with a fireplace, small bar, loads of space and tables. Downstairs is your average bar/pub with a huge bar, TVs, dining area, etc etc. The food is great and the service is verrry sweet. If you live around the area, I would definitely recommend reserving the party room because it's perfect - you can either mingle with everyone or find your own cozy corner to hide in :) There's a park right next to the restaurant too so if you're feeling like fresh air WHADDAYA KNOW you can just sneak out and hang out (propose?) in the neighborhood gazebo. Prices are reasonable and pretty much comparable to any mid-size pub-like restaurant. SO, if you're around - go here. Not like you have much choice in terms of restaurants around anyway! read more

It was a hot summer day and I was in the area so I wanted a place that had a patio and saw Simcoe Arms around the corner and thought it was worth checking out. As I enter the restaurant, all it smelt like was the washroom air freshener..... but anyway I was sitting outside on the patio so I did not smell it. I decided to order the Arms burger since it had its name on it, I would think it would be good. Well before the burger got here it took forever.... Then when the food get arrive, the burger was a little bland and it also taste dry. I would expect a burger with their own name would be good, but I was wrong. Don't think I would be going back which is unfortunate because I wouldn't mind visiting the area in the summer. read more

Service is terrible terrible terrible. Went in for lunch and sat for 20 min and no one bothered to come ask us for our order, so we left. Of course as we're walking out the server runs over and asks where we're going. Home for lunch I told her. Just now went back for a beer at the bar... And sat for10 min at the bar. Again no one came over to ask what we would like. I have never sat at a bar anywhere for more than 30 sec before a barkeep asks for an order. So to summarize have been here twice now and sat inside for 30 min and I haven't so much as have a glass of water because no one has ever ask I will never go back and neither should you. read more

We got amazing service last night! I ordered the Fish N' Chips. They were perfect! The fries were great, and the fish was amazing. I ordered the Hot Chocolate as well. It looked awesome, and had whipped cream. It was the best hot chocolate I've ever had! I thought because we sat in the corner the service would be bad, but it was fantastic! Our waitress was incredible! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants some good ol fashioned Pub/comfort food. read more

The atmosphere is lovely inside, with lots of seating for many visitors, or even larger groups. The building is a century building, with old wood flooring, fireplace, and a general ambiance that's probably present for the past century. Very comfortable seating, and our server was delightfully friendly and good at banter with us. They have a lovely selection of dishes. Appetizer options range from cheesy garlic sticks to potato skins and calamari. There is a sandwich menu, main entree, and specials menu. Something for everyone, really, including a few vegetarian options (veggie burger, veggie wrap, etc.) If drinks are your goal, they have a great selection of martinis, spirits, wines, beers, and liquered coffee! I didn't get a chance to read the drinks menu in detail, but the wine list alone took up one page of the large menu. I did not know this place existed until my father suggested it for a birthday celebration. It really is worth the drive to Jackson's Point (lovely scenery on the ride up). I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a good, pub-feel to their dining experience. Will definitely return! read more

Be careful if you have any kind of allergy. My wife explained in detail her gluten and dairy allergies. We then asked for a burger on a gluten free bun but it came with a regular bun. Explained she couldn't have any contact with wheat so they would have to start over. At least 30 minutes went by after i finished my meal and still no burger. Apparently something Wong with their ordering system when in fact this order should have been dealt with directly. Anyway they promised it would arrive. A few minutes passed and we are ready to leave when her food arrives WITH CHEESE ON IT! we couldn't believe it. It was a very frustrating experience. They didn't even offer to discount my meal.... too bad. read more

I think this place has gone under new management several times. The service is ok. The staff seem to be all over the place. Hostess came up to me and said that I would be served shortly when I my waitress had already taken my order. Atleast they care about customers having too long wait times :) And it sounded like they were trying to push people to pay and get out faster. I understand the place is busy but it's a real turn off for patrons. It's really difficult to get seating on the patio on a beautiful summers day. Indoors it's too gloomy and dark. Food is your average pub food. Although they do have some delicious salads. I had the one one with goat cheese dried cranberries and pears with balsamic and it was outstanding. And they will bring out oil and vinegar so you can make it to your own liking if you request in case your on a diet. All in all I had a good experience. Food was good and filling. Waitress was helpful and great. And I got to sit on the patio. The only thing I would say is their downfall is the prices and the indoor atmosphere. Need to add more lighting in the day. read more

Housed in a renovated Victorian building, the Arms offers a nice menu selection from the requisite hamburgers and fish and chips to steaks and seafood. Service is an abomination. Crazy bad. We have a cottage nearby and come here regularly because it is a nice looking spot with a great patio in the middle of "downtown" Jackson's Point. The food is ok but the service is excruciatingly slow. Just a disorganized and poorly run kitchen or not enough staff or both. So sad. read more

A very disappointing reopening after renovations; they've changed the menu and they are not good changes i.e. the wings are a Starter now instead of Pub food, so they no longer come with fries but the price didn't change. On my most recent visit they had a smoked brisket dinner offer which our server claimed was smoked for 12 hours; Mr Handsome ordered it and it was terrible and I mean terrible - had to be sent back- I know a smoked brisket when I see one and this wasn't it. It was pre-fabbed perfect rectangular slices and so so chewy, our server Crystal was super cool about it and removed it from the bill but now I'm pretty suspicious about what they're serving which is too bad because we used to spend money here at least 3 times a month as it's local. Took a day-trip to Jackson's Point today, and stopped in for a beer, cider, and snacks. It's a nice building with a nice patio. The service, however, was really awful. After sitting us at the patio and spilling the bottle of water on us, the server said she'd bring another. No such luck. After some time, our waitress came to take our order - a beer, a cider, and the artichoke dip with naan pieces and nacho chips. It took 15 minutes for the beer to come, and 20 for my cider and the app. I had to ask again for the water, after watching like a meerkat for the elusive servers. The water came 10 or 15 minutes after. A table of 4 next to us waited easily 40 minutes for their food, and were not impressed. The whole patio was grumbling almost as loudly as their stomachs. The wait staff were quite nice, for the most part, but you never really saw them. It all seemed very ill-organized. The artichoke dip tasted mainly of warm cream cheese; it was ok, but nothing to go on about. We would have ordered another app. and a couple more drinks, however we were unable to commit to the time investment. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who is actually hungry or thirsty. Needless to say, we shan't be making a return visit. read more

Terrible service, have had multiple occurrences of rude people long wait times and little to no attention to fix the problems. The last straw was when we had made reservations and had to wait almost an hour to get an answer to witch was blamed on a there people. Nothing was done to remedy the issue pathetic. read more

This place is a staple in this area it has been here forever and always will be. The food is great and the inside is amazing and makes you feel like your in a pub in downtown London. My only issue with the place is that i dont understand why it has to be so expensive....like the food is great but there is other places around here that you can get the same quallity food for alot cheaper. read more

Lake Simcoe Arms has a couple of things going for it, mainly it is the only pub grub joint in Jackson's Point. In fact, as of this writing you have only three other choices for lunch North of Metro Road: Lisa's Place (so-so all-day breakfast), Jackson's Place (pricey steakhouse), and Golden Dragon (pricey Chinese-Canadian). The burgers aren't bad; I can't really comment on the service because it really depends. In short, this place is nothing spectacular but it's not terrible either. read more

The Arms is a reliable pub with a great selection of on tap beer. It is not cheap but it has a fantastic ambience and a great summer patio. Keep it simple and you should be fine, but with the exception of a few long term employees (Becky!!!) the service is the weak spot for sure.
