*** Update from our previous visit *** My family had been to Era 67 in late September, and had a horrendous experience. After we posted our review the owner, Brian, contacted us to discuss what happened. He then offered for us to come back and give them another shot. We accepted, and returned this past Sunday (November 10th) When we arrived, we were seated quickly in the private room. Brian extended his apologies again and thanked us for returning. Our drink order was taken and delivered in a timely manner. My husband was impressed with his Old Fashioned, and said it was well made. We placed our appetizer and dinner choices at the same time. The appetizers were a bit slow to come out, however we attributed that to it being a busy evening. No big deal for us. We had the stuffed Yorkies, and the bruschetta. Both were excellent. Our dinners took longer than expected, but again, it was a busy night. 2 of us has the braised lamb shank, 2 had the Prime Rib special, and I had the striploin. They were worth the wait!! My brother wanted to lick his plate when he finished his lamb and said it was the best he's ever had. My steak was perfectly cooked, and the prime rib was also well enjoyed. Although we didn't have much space left, we elected to try their flourless chocolate torte for dessert, 2 pieces to be shared amongst us. It was super rich, but came with a raspberry coulis to help cut it. Excellent!! All in all, our experience was a million times better than our last. For me, personally, I do wish the food came out a bit faster, but aside from that, we were all very pleased. I've given it a 4 only because of the delay in between courses. The food was still worth the wait though. I know that my family plans to return. My mother wants to try the lamb after seeing how much my father and brother enjoyed theirs. Our reservation was for 6:00pm we were seated at 6:10pm by Bruce a waiter and handed menus and from then on totally ignored while he walked around and around us for 25 minutes serving other customers. Not a bottle of water came NOTHING. Room ambiance was really weird customers all had like a long face. I actually commented to my husband. I was about to find out why So now at 6:40pm I stood up and went to him and asked "I see a gentleman has arrived after us and had already been served a bottle of water yet we don't have anything yet" - he (Bruce) replied "oh yes well I was wondering about that ... I'll get your server". Well if you're wondering about that - do you think you could have said something EARLIER ?!?!?!? !!!! DUH Leslie our server finally shows up we give her our order we were at that point VERY PREPARED, she apologized and said she didn't know it was her table ‍ omg our table was #53 DEAD CENTRE of the room ! Bruce circled it at least 25 times if not more ! He obviously was trying to make her (Leslie) look bad, zero consideration for the starving customers trying to celebrate an anniversary or a special night out ! We placed our order me a bottle of sparkling water hubby glass of white wine and then the full dinner menu appetizers etc $125 meal for Valentines. She brought my husband his wine but TOTALLY FORGOT my Sparkling water with lemon, again another screw up ... I never received it. She said she'd push our order through since we had been waiting so long, however when I grabbed her again at 7:15pm she offered us .. catch this "4 Hershey kisses" to hold us over and said that the appetizers hadn't even been started yet !!!! WELL WE HAD HAD IT !! She offered to comp the wine - my husband wasn't going to chug a glass of wine on an "empty" stomach-I still didn't get my bottled water she did show up and bring a pitcher of awful tap water with ice cube's in it (again I was disgusted) The service was down right SH-T ! A lady had to interrupt and say look I'm sorry to interrupt but we have theatre tickets, I just want to pay our bill - we'd like to leave. The service has gone DOWNHILL SINCE COVID it's not like it use to be that's for sure! We will NEVER EVER GO BACK Lot 88 is really a great restaurant or FARE Restaurant is actually where we ended up going and it has excellent food and excellent service. You won't be treated like garbage like we were at Era 67 or have your waiters competing for tips trying to make each other look bad. Meals and apps for 4 of us never came out at same time sometimes ten minutes apart, wrong meals came out and ones that did were warm at best and one.. We were looking for a nice place to eat in Orillia for an anniversary date and this restaurant made it to the top of our list. We were very happy with our choice! Although the menu wasn't particular large, we both found many dishes we wanted to try. We started with the mussels and really enjoyed them. The bread served with it was very fresh and fun to dip in the white wine cream sauce. I ordered the stuffed pork chop and loved it! The pork chop was delicious and I loved how much of the blueberry and goat cheese stuffing they were able to fit inside. The cranberry and bacon jam also added an additional layer of flavour on top of that. The potatoes were great and the veggies were very fresh. My partner got the 8oz striploin and loved it as well. From the bite I got it seemed to be cooked to perfection. The service here was also very good, though meals of this quality do take a while to prepare. For anyone looking for fine dining in Orillia this would definitely be my suggestion. Whenever we return to the area I know we'll be back here to try more of their spectacular menu! read more

Today I booked through their web site on line booking for the following day. The reservation was for 5:15 and I received a confirmation from the Yelp booking portal. I called the restaurant when they opened to reconfirm my booking and was informed that they were booked and could not honour my reservation. They firmly laid the blame on the booking portal with Yelp being problematic, and has been problematic for them for a while. I am surprised in this day and age that a restaurant business is willing to continue with a booking site that is constantly problematic and has not shut down bookings until the issue is resolved. Had I not called my party of 6 would have arrived at the restaurant with no table available and of course very disappointing for our 4 guests from out of town. I post this review more for public awareness and not expecting anything from the restaurant other than they get their reservation options resolved. read more

We were staying with our in laws and wanted to take them for a good dinner to thank them for their hospitality. Era 67 did not disappoint. Three of us had the prime rib special that was outstanding while my wife had salmon that was cooked just the way she likes. The meal was finished off with a cheesecake dessert. After a week of camping and roughing it, we wanted to end our vacation on a high note, so we consulted Yelp and decided to give this place a try. We had a pretty mixed experience overall, and I honestly wish it had been a little better. We sat at an outside table, since the weather was very nice. Our server, who was REALLY awesome, also seemed to be overworked a bit. I'm not sure if he was handling the entire restaurant by himself, but he seemed to have too many tables, and was having issues with a slow kitchen perhaps. We were not in any rush or anything, but it seemed like a longer dinner than we'd really planned for. So, their beer menu was nothing interesting, basically just macro beers, so we decided to go with a couple of cocktails. I got a Caesar, and Lee went with a Moscow Mule, both signature drinks. These were fabulous, with a nice taste and a good balance of alcohol and flavor. We also decided to order the confit duck poutine as a starter. The poutine was a smidge light on the fries, but we got a whole meaty duck leg, which was a nice touch - we shredded the meat ourselves into the dish. It had a nice, tasty gravy and nicely melted curds. It was the mains where things kinda fell apart for us. They were out of the pickerel dish, so I had to think for a bit for what I wanted. I decided to go for the half rack of lamb, and Lee went for the Ribeye. The seasonal/daily vegetable was a local rice in a honey sauce. The sauce in the rice was so overwhelmingly sweet that it was on the verge of inedible. It also leaked into the rest of the dish, so much so that Lee's steak tasted sweet, and my vegetables were pretty overwhelmed. In hindsight, we should have sent both dishes back, but we're both really shy about doing that, and we ended up just eating it. We almost never ask for salt, but we both asked for some to combat the sweetness of the rice. Overall, I think I'd come back here for drinks and maybe a light snack, but for an overall dinner experience, it was just disappointing. read more

Era67 Poutine($8) - In-house fresh cut Yukon Gold fries, seasoned with duck jus lie, duck thigh conct, garlic curds, topped with crispy fried leeks Hickory Smoked Duck Breast and Trio of Beet Salad ($12) - In-House cherry smoked locally, raised, organic, free range breast of duck from North River Farms. Last evening we stopped and sat down to eat dinner at an open table in the outdoor patio area. The waiter came out and said we don't allow dogs up here. I said sir he is my service dog would you like to see his credentials. He said no and you will have to sit outside the patio area and pointed to a table down out side the patio fence. As the other customers watched us and stared, my son sat down at the table out-front and he said will this do? I said not at all, I will not spend my money here, the dog can fly in all planes with me and sit under all restaurant tables elsewhere. This restaurant is not where I want to be. read more

Ok Era 67, you had me at "Delivery"! Our party of 8 was picked up from the cozy home front of our Orillia friends and delivered on time for our 7 o'clock reservation with a return ticket in hand! Can you say, "Pass me another bottle of vino please?" Aside from providing common sense customer server and due diligence we were greeted with the smiles and warmth of tastefully dressed staff and the pleasantries of the acoustic guitar. I needed a moment as the smell of meat confit and garlic began to hit me in waves when dancing visions of Cabernet began in my head. We were escorted through what I would describe as the coziest dining room as there wasn't an awkward table in site; to our private room with our own window view of the kitchen .How lucky am I?; Dinner and a Show. I have always felt a level of anxiety for kitchens that remain in open view of their guest as it takes an extremely disciplined individual to avoid habitual personal routines; if you know what I'm saying ;) Professional and aware the kitchen remained; and I couldn't wait to select my 3 course meal. This is more difficult for me than you can imagine and luckily my guests enjoy by inability to make a decision as they enjoy the cocktail hour. The worst part is I took a sneak peak at their menu 2 days prior and I still was struggling with indecision. To start I was torn between the Poppyseed Clementine and Baby Bocconcini Spinach Salad vs the Trio of Hush Puppy Lollipop Fondue. I was quickly reminded of my accident prone abilities and opted to avoid the communal pot and spirit lamp; which by the way doesn't come with the Fondue. Better to be safe than sorry I always say. The salad was fresh and tangy; but I was not overly impressed that it had a side of deep-fried battered cheese; I felt an un -battered sharp cheese would have complimented the salad brilliantly. Perhaps the tempura cheese stick wasn't meant to compliment but rather used to finish the dish with swooping motions of gratitude to ensure every ounce of their homemade dressing wasn't left untouched. Smart! In between meals I was reminded of my OCD tendencies as I kept trying to grab the crooked spoon illustrated on our placemats. It got me 3 times. I wasn't alone on that one and I'd like to officially say that 2 out of 8 people struggle with this issue. I choose the Roasted Red Pepper and Green Peppercorn Steak (no surcharge added) for my entrée; which was cooked perfect and presented beautifully as was the other four options I politely had a side of. I am grateful for my friends. Final touches; will it be the cheesecake or the butter tart? Hands down the cheesecake! I did manage to shovel in some butter tart which oddly enough had smarties on it??? Different; but I'll revert back to the old saying, "If it's not broken don't fix it". What's left to say; Shannon our server was awesome, the owner popped in to say hi and express his gratitude and we had a ball. A spot that both looks good and tastes good. Probably one of the very few fine dining restaurants in the Orillia area located somewhat close to Casino Rama. Make sure you book well in advance. We have mixed review about this restaurant. Perhaps it is because we got there almost at closing time. So let's give them the benefit of the doubt. The establishment is pretty, medium size, with a large outside front patio. They have a small menu, and the night we got there they didn't have any specials, and by the time we got there, they had run out of a couple items in the menu. Our server was pleasant. An interesting appetizer was the fried brie sticks, like mozzarella sticks yet made with Brie cheese, very rich and very good, although the aioli sauce served with it was too rich for it (it was a delicious and well-made aioli though). It would be better served with a jam that has some acid to it to balance out the richness. The spring greens salad was simple but fresh and well dressed. The spring pea soup was fresh and good, with a very different flavor (hints of coconut and fenugreek) yet it didn't taste like bacon nor was it served with a dollop of sour cream as stated on the menu. The mussels came in a creamy white wine sauce as noted in the menu. It was good, but it takes getting used to a creamy white wine sauce on mussels as opposed to the traditional more liquid white wine sauce. Service is generally excellent, though sometimes it becomes apparent they must struggle to find fine-dining staff locally. They also have a shuttle service, and BYO wine. If you want to eat really good Canadian and local fine dining, this is the place to go. Check out their website for menus, events, and current news. The atmosphere is nice, warm, walls are red colour, nice carpet, nice dining tables with white table cloth. They have live bands and a few private rooms, other than the main dining area. The waiters are very attentive and care a lot about the customers. They are very accomodating with food allergies or food issues. They know a lot about the dishes and their wine which is very nice. Prices are higher. Around $25+ for a dish of food and water. If you want dessert and wine the cost will go up to around $45+ per person. You can also wait for Lake Country Dining and Barrielicious which are meal testing events with a set 3 course meal for $25-$30 which is a great deal. I have been here 7 times for lunch and dinner. Dishes I have had: Appetizers: 1. Scallops & Tiger Shrimp with cucumber and tomato relish. 10/10 This dish was absolutely amazing. It had fresh perfectly poached scallops as 1 inch in size. Tiger Shrimp was very succulent and sweet, cooked perfectly. The relish was sweet, tangy and chopped ever so small into bits. It was really refreshing and so appetizing! 2. Mushroom Truffle Soup. 9/10 Very creamy, had notes of Truffle and the soup was soo creamy and you'd get a few small bits of wild mushrooms. Very nice. 3. Duck Confit with Duck Gravy Poutine. 10/10 Just magical. It was so creamy, the cheese was a bit tangy. I love duck, so the fries that were perfectly crispy matching the mouth melting duck gravy was just perfect. The bits of duck meat were shredded and added on top for more duck! If you love poutine and duck you'll be in heaven really! 4.Trio of Beet and Baby Arugula Salad - 8/10. The combination of the beets were bleeding a bit everywhere. The vinagarette was very nice. The combination of the cucumber was nice and arugula was a good peppery taste and touch for the dish. I didn't think it was amazing though... it lacked a bit of crunch and more acidity like nuts and tomatoes. Main Dishes 1. Salmon Organic Cedar Plank from B.C. So it was fresh pacific king salmon fillet glazed with grainy maple mustard was absolutely delicious, fish was so fresh, cooked perfectly, not too flakey and was still juicy. The beet infused wheat berry was too chewy for me, but was kind of sweet. and grilled mixed vegetables which were cooked with little oil and herbs. 2. Sable Fish with Risotto 6/10. I didn't enjoy this dish because I didn't like the taste of the sable fish. The boar bacon that was wrapped around it was really soggy and wasn't very appealing (look wise) The risotto was very thick and had far too much and too starchy, however the flavour wasn't bad. 3. Trio of Mushroom Alberta Strip loin Steak. 10/10 The steak was one of the best I have ever had, the seasonings on it were very simple yet not too salty. They aged their steaks and hence why it's so tender, juicy and melts in yoru mouth. The mash potatoes were perfect and so creamy with butter probably. The veggies were delish and had a little herb on them. I didn't care for the fried onions on top, however, 4. Ontario Pork Duo. 8/10 The centre cut pork loin was a bit dry surprisingly. The gravy was very nice and the mash potatoes were very creamy and perfectly seasoned. The Pork Belly Confit was alittle too greasy for me, but nonetheless very tasty and juicy. The Barbeque glaze was sweet but yet tangy, very nice. Desserts. 1. Macintosh Apple Beignets. 8/10 I had a bite of the apple beignets with caramel sauce and ice cream. Was super tasty and the batter was perfect and fluffly. 2. Pumpking Cheesecake. 9/10 The crust was sweet but moist and tasted like brown sugar. The cheesecake had pumpkin flavour blended throughout the cheese cake part. Moist and tasty. 3. ( I didn't try this) Wilkie's Butter Tarts with ice cream. Looked amazing and someone else ate it. Wilkie's is a place that is local and has delicious butter tarts in downtown Orillia so it's nice to have this dessert in the menu. I think overall this place is a 9/10 for me. The dishes are solid. The head Chef Ian Thompson is very talented and shows his creativity through his good quality and tasty food. Try it out for a special event, birthday, valentines day etc..! read more

My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner at era 67 last night. The atmosphere was elegant and yet comfortable. From the throw pillows on the seats, to the candles on the tables, the decor was well thought out and elegant. The staff was very knowledgeable with their wine list and helped me pair a nice white wine with my meal. The waitress was friendly and attentive with our needs. Our food was plated beautifully, and was pleasing to the eye. The taste was even better! From wine and appetizers, to dessert and coffee, everything we ate was flavourful and delicious. Wonderful experience, lovely ambiance, and the food is unique, beautiful, and tasty. My steak was sent out blue when I order it medium rare. The 5 mini potatoes were undercooked and it took over an hour to be serve with only 4 other customers in the restaurant. This was the second time I went to this restaurant and both times the "chef" sent out my steak blue (rare). So then you have to sit and wait for 20 minutes while everyone else eats waiting for your meal. What restaurant that specializes in steak hires a chef that cant tell the "doneness" of the meat.
