Dropped in for brunch and everything was tasty at pretty good prices: - Tent's Fried Chicken and Waffles: While I don't usually like my chicken with this much coating, I liked this one as the skin was crackling crunchy while the meat was juicy. Would have liked a bit thicker potato waffle and a bit more spicy honey. The poached egg was a delightful surprise. - Prime Rib Sandwich: Tender rib strips, tasty chimichurri sauce, great bread. The side fries were also really good. - Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: Loved how strong the lemon taste was. - Bread Knots: Instead of the standard bread, they gave these fried dough balls lathered in caramel as the free table bread. Yum! Service is a bit scattered and slow, but they try. Prices are good value for what you get. Place is simple and casual. If you want a tasty brunch that won't hurt your wallet, this is a great spot to try. read more

Elevated food. Small but wonderful menu. Good service. The physical place (an old gas bar) isn't ideal, although they've done the best they can without major renovations. The only advice I have is to have the washroom doors closed at all times, as that's the first thing you see upon entering. There was great jazz music playing last time we were there. read more

Wow, who knew that a little, mom-and-pop restaurant in the middle of nowhere would have served up one of the best meals I've had in a while? Some friends and I were looking for a brunch spot on the way back to the city and stumbled upon Tent Kitchen + Bar and their high reviews. I tried the lemon ricotta pancakes which were delicious and made with love. The chicken and waffles were even better, with great textures and flavours. Hidden gem alert! This spot has a small but incredibly thoughtful menu of seasonal items that are both delicious and beautifully plated. Located just outside of Orillia and open from Wed-Sun for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's best to call to reserve as seating is limited. Don't let the location and exterior fool you, this spot is phenomenal. Definitely a Simcoe County favourite for me! read more

Never judge a book by its cover. From the outside you would not expect the magic that happens in this kitchen. Definitely worth the drive to tent kitchen and great to see some more dinning options in the area. We ordered the beet/citrus, seafood linguine, flank steak and the garlic knots were heavenly and the presentation was on point. It's been awhile since we have been out with covid, it was our first time dinning in somewhere in a year and a half, and I forgot to mention an allergy, they cooked another dish on the fly (it was so much appreciated ). Amazing hidden gem! Everything here is tasty, staff is super friendly, and meals are well packed for covid! They have an ever changing menu so make sure to check it out before you go so you won't be surprised! We've now ordered here 4 times, each time something different from burgers to steak to cornish hen to ravioli to grilled chicken sandwich to seafood linguine! What a variety and they do it all well! We stopped for lunch on the way to Algonquin.. and feel like we got lucky! First impression is... apprehensive, but once the food came out we realized the food is rather good. My husbands focaccia on his prime rib sandwich was soft and fluffy. The toppings on my burger had good umami. Now it's worth noting, despite it not being listed we enquired about kids items and they accommodated w spaghetti and a real marinara sauce. The layout is a little off-putting since the washroom is by the front door... Ignore that. The food is good. read more

Very unassuming place on the side of Simcoe country road 169, basically in the middle of nowhere, but with very upscale and delicious food. We were on our way home from Muskoka Lake and there is a decided lack of food places along the route. We saw this place was open with people sitting out front eating, so stopped for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and would gladly stop there again if we are in the area. Take a chance on them and you won't regret it. read more

We have never had a bad meal here. Everything has been top notch and created with care. Don't miss the fish and chips with the light tempura batter or the superlative roast beef on sunday nights. Considering the (past) reviews of this place, something must have went wrong. I didn't expect to ever hear at a brunch place that avocado weren't ripe enough after I ordered Benedict eggs, on a Sunday at peak brunch hour. It happened at this place. NEVER in my life was I served a burger with the bread COLD. It happened at this place. Just unbelievable and even more shocking and disappointing considering the reviews. Its not enough to be all smile and nice to customers, I want my money's worth and certainly didn't get it there. read more
