Brewdog has been on Chris D's "I'd tap that" list for as long as it's been opened. It has also become a recent haunt of a good pal, who isn't characteristically into her beers. So with all the buzz and the noise surrounding this joint, I thought I'd try it out. If you like beer and are looking for local flavour, you'll love this place. Aside from its ubercool, spit-and-sawdust, no-frills decor, Brewdog is a bouncing wee bar due to its massive beers selection. Offering more than your average, fancy foreign fruit beers, Brewdog also has its own brand which is spreading like wildfire around Scotland. It also offers something genuinely different, and you can try beers that are over 18% strong! For the leather liver-ed, yellow belly daredevils amongst you, there is a beer called a "penguin" which is 40% strong and guaranteed to put some hairs on your chest. It was out of stock the day I visited, but I was already flying on the 18% ale, so perhaps fate was preventing me from getting too blasted. Always busy and never boring, Brewdog is also conveniently placed opposite the picturesque art gallery. So after treating yourself to a day of culture, you can reward your brain by getting it suitably drunk in here. Why on earth would you come here if you didn't like beer, but why on earth would you write a friggin review of a place if you didn't like beer? It is like recommending to someone not to go to a cinema if they don't like film? Unbelievable. Anyway, if you like beer, you will probably like places that serve beer, such as this place. Specifically, if you like brewdog beer and, oh yeah, like beer, you are in with a good chance of liking this place! The barstaff were keen and knowledgeable, the cheeseboard looked good, but we didn't eat. The beer was predictably well kept and the place was spotless, with an interesting, metalic decor. Reminded me of the industrial zone on The Crystal Maze, but without folk mincing about, making loose references to their Mummies. The prices were reasonable. Not a huge capacity, so if you were with a larger group, you'd best be getting here early on a weekend. read more

This place was mental busy when we went in, its obviously been highly anticipated by all. The food menu, although we didnt have any lookd pretty good, catching my eye were the pizzas, and the 'large cheese and meat board'.... mmmm cheese The staff were quick and friendly and the prices very reasonable for this end of town, and considering how much Brew Dog retails for. I had a bottle of trashy blonde, as did the boy and neither of us rated it, but I cant judge a bar on my bad beer choice. But it did lose a star because, after less than a week of being open, it seemed a bit grubby. Some of it was just a bit of shabby chic-ness which is cool, but I stuck to the floor. I havent stuck to a pub floor in years. And the door to boys loos doesnt close on its own, so you have to be careful your eyes dont wander. I would definately go back to sample the food and the other beers. read more

Ahh I cant decide whether I should give this place a 3 or 4 star review. Ill go for 4 cause I'm a nice enough guy, but let's pretend it's a 3.5*. There's nothing wrong with this place per se, I just think it could be a hell of a lot better than it is. I was in on Saturday night (because the bouncer said to us "Brewdog!" and so we did!). It was absolutely mobbed and a half, so much so we struggled to get to the bar. The staff in here could be a lot more pleasant than they are, they just seemed a bit meh towards serving. I decided on a beer flight; 4 1/3 measure glasses of different beer to taste what you like best. Good plan, if all their beer taps didn't taste pretty much the same. Gah I changed the review back to 3 after reading all that I wrote. I had fun while I was there (an old man brought in his dog which became the Brew Dog), but I just don't think this place lives up to all that it could be. We were SUPPOSED to be visiting the Kelvingrove Museum across the street, but rather than do things the smart way, we stopped in at Brewdog first. It was just afternoon on a weekday, so the place was pretty quiet, which was nice. There seems to be adequate seating, but I cam imagine it getting a bit crowded in the evening. The guy behind the bar was super friendly to us, a couple of American tourists, and made us feel right at home. With his guidance, I started with a Hops Kill Nazis, which was perfect for a hop-lover like me. My partner went for Riptide, a hearty, flavorful Imperial Stout. We also tried an interesting kriek lambic, that we thought would be especially nice in summer. The burger we had was a step above standard bar food where we're from, so we were happy with that. The prices were okay, pretty standard for a place like this. We ended our pre-museum binge with some IPA is Dead, which we liked quite well too. Brewdog's style reminded us of some of the small, independent craft breweries of the Pacific Northwest, which in our book is a very good thing. They know what they're doing and do it well, not selling out or being too commercial. Definitely recommended. read more

At this point, I'm only adding to the chorus of rave reviews of Brew Dog. The staff is the most helpful of any pub in Glasgow, the views of the Kelvingrove are spectacular and the beer is absolutely delicious. I took a friend of mine who knows next to nothing about beer and the staff helped her through a few choices, including tasting almost every beer on the menu. It's brilliant, there is no other way to describe it. If you are in to art, it's opposite an art museum. One thing is that it's bit away from the city centre and it's probably a 40 minute walk. I cycled and it was between 10 and 15 mins from the train station. First and foremost, it's a bar with a real modern bar feel and not a traditional pub. They serve food in the form of Pizza and burgers as well as a meat and cheese plate. We (myself and wife) both had the spicy burger and shared the meat and cheese plate. It was pretty tasty, though spicy means a few Jalapenos instead of a spicy sauce which would be better. The meat and cheese plate of course is excellent when trying different beers. The beer of course is fantastic, especially if you are a fan of their beer already. There are board games to play and even an old arcade machine which is free to use. This is a college bar, located near the college so will get very packed at night but then so do most good pubs/bars. For all the people drinking beer, there were others drinking wine or even just coffee and since there are plenty of other places nearby that specialise in wine or coffee, brewdog must be doing something right to attract the non beer drinker. One thing not to miss out on is the £5 taste (shot) of their super strong beers. Tactical nuclear penguin and Sink the bismark (google them). Well worth the money considering a bottle of TNP costs €85 in a pub in Dublin. Incidentally, The Black Sheep in Dublin does the shots for a similar price of €7 as well as a number of brewdog beers on tap. I wish they would open one in Dublin. read more

We needed a quick lunch before we went to a concert so we ducked into BrewDog just across the street from the art museum. We split a Patriot burger with sweet potato fries. We didn't get around to their grand assortment of beers and ales, but they had spectacular names. The burger was delish as were the fries. The staff there was very enjoyable and friendly. Just having a little browse through Yelp and saw this place in the top spot for nightlife. I literally just went 'no way!'. Out loud. To myself. And that's not a good, Saved by the Bell 'no way dude!' that's totally rad!'. It's the 'not on my nelly' type. BrewDog is sort of great, the very first time you go there. Then you realise visiting bars is about more than syrupy strong shots of ale. It's about finding somewhere to sit and socialise. Somewhere where the bar is well stocked and can cater to your every whim. Somewhere where you feel part of a tiny, temporary community. BrewDog is not this place. I find the seats really uncomfortable and the configuration of the tables simply baffling. I can never hear anyone I'm with, but can hear the big group of men sitting next to me (there are always some next to me). If you love their ales and want to sample the whole range, the BrewDog bar is obviously a fantastic place to start. If you're looking for an exciting night out, maybe keep walking onto Argyle Street or Byres Road. read more

Love coming here for beers, banter and a bite to eat! Punk IPA is a solid favourite but spoiled for choice on the beer front, I like to try the beer flights too. The staff are friendly and only too happy to give recommendations or tell you what's new. The Viva Las Veggies burger is ace (but messy, be warned!) or if you're just peckish try some of the snacky sides (the veggie haggis baws are well tasty). But here it is. The Mecca of UK brews. The zenith of my alcoholic tendencies. The wonder of art and architecture just outside my less than sober existence. The endless metaphor for FRIKIN AMAZING BEER! All I can say is, "Do not miss this blessed place." It's so close to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery. You, as a tourist, have no excuse to avoid Brewdog. And if you take more than you can handle, no worries, a friendly stranger may escort you home, and you won't have to give them anything in return. Except maybe more alcohol in the future. There's something that definitely works with this place. I've seen new starts try to create this kind of atmosphere through liberal application of flaky paint and fail horribly. I felt unusually comfortable in the open plan bar area and when a table popped up slammed down my pint and got stuck into a few games of connect 4. Quality. Staff were a joy, with taster glasses available until I worked out what was going to bust my liver for the next couple of hours. I can't stand beer...or so I thought. I am now converted. The food was top notch and the staff really knew a thing or two about the products as well as clearly having a passion for the job. I think it's only fair that I up my star rating on this BrewDog after my recent visit. The comments I had in my last review still stand - I do think it's a shame that the bars are a bit samey (I wonder if they had to make the one in Merchant City different because they weren't able to radically change the building), and their advertising can be a bit fake-edgey at times. BUT, the most important thing to bear in mind is that this is actually a great bar to spend some time in. I think a lot of this is down the the staff - they obviously know their stuff, but the key thing is that they aren't snobby about it. Any beer you don't know about will be explained in a way that's easy to understand, and you can try little tasters if you want to give something a go. They are also pretty generous with their tap space - there are just as many non-BrewDog beers on tap as there are theirs, and they don't seem to be pushing their own product more than anything else. We were there on a busy El Perro Negro day, and they were really good at shuffling folk about reserved tables without being rude. If you like beer, it's probably a given that you're going to go there, and you'll have a great time there. read more

I've been on the BrewDog bandwagon for a good number of years, courtesy of living in Aberdeen and their beers appearing at farmers markets and in supermarkets when they were just a fledgling company. The one thing BrewDog have absolutely excelled at is a strong, dynamic brand. Style over substance is commonplace nowadays, but not with the BrewDog boys. With all the excitement, column inches and occasional controversy this exciting, forward thinking brewery has garnered, they have the product to back it up. Their bar in Glasgow is in-keeping with the ethos - and it delivers! If I was to level one criticism at the bar, it's that it's too busy at the weekends - but surely that's just a measure of the stuff on offer. I'm yet to sample food in one of their bars, but in terms of a place to go to sample some exceptional craft beer, there are very few finer. For me, all the boxes are ticked. A fantastic, place and a fantastic experience. The bar manager in Glasgow is an absolute gent and the staff are top-drawer! I'm giving it five stars, even though I haven't tried the food. It's a brewery owned bar, so food is second. If they get this right - watch this space - I'll have to create some sort of 5+ system! read more

Great selection of ales but a few too many hipsters. I love BrewDog, the staff are lovely and dare I say pleasing on the eye? The lunch menu is a golden egg in what is a world of sandwiches so mediocre that I cant even muster up a feeling strong enough to create an adjective. After a hard day strolling Glasgow's streets BrewDog is like the golden arches after 200 miles on the motorway. I hate motor way driving, i have a 1.0L so uncomfortable is an understatement. LOVE their beers and love their brewpub. The inside is pretty cool, kind of industrial and airy. Could be more comfy. But they have boardgames and wifi, so that's good enough for me. The times I've been, I've tried Punk IPA, 5 am Saint, and Trashy Blonde. Tried a bit of the Tactical Nuclear Penguin or Sink the Bismarck (can't remember which) but it was way too strong for me. My friend nursed hers for a longggg time. Now that I'm back in Canada, I've been buying Punk IPA from the liquor store and will be making a pilgrimage to a bar that offers a larger variety of their beers! read more

For all the times I've been here and to not already have a review up is nowt short of scandalous! Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! I love Brewdog Beer. I loved it even before it became the ''in'' hipster beer (which is probably obvious given that I am most definitely not any variety of hipster, either common garden, pretentious prat or anywhere inbetween) and I love this bar almost as much as I love the beer. It has the uniform cool minimalist industrial chic thing going on, it has the usual awesome tap/bottle selection you'd expect and the food menu always looks great, though I've never actually eaten in this one (another issue that must be rectified!!). I really love the staff in here as well, they're a very smiley helpful bunch and are never stingy on offering wee tasters if you're not quite sure of a selection. The 5th star dangles just out of reach...that'll be decided by the food, when I eventually get round to it, and also if I can get a seat next time! (it's always mobbed now..boo!) read more

Great people watching since it's located directly across of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. Dropped in by accident thinking it was a coffee shop but couldn't resist trying their own brewed IPAs. Bartender doles out samples like nobody's business. I went with their first ever brewed &!'most popular, Punk IPA £4.15 for a pint. Wifi works great with the provided password. Better than the art museum's horrible connection. I came solo but would want to return with a group...their wall is littered with fun board games! read more

I find it more of a 'I fancy a quick pint' type of place rather than settling down for an all-nighter but each to their own! This place seemed nice and cosy, with a laidback vibe. Just not sure this craft beer thing works with me. Maybe my taste buds are just not mature enough. I do like to try though. It was good to have a read at all the names and look at something different other than your usual suspects on tap. BrewDog has that cool to be seen here vibe. Visited here after a superb bit of food and that mixed with the drink made for imminent nap time. Only managed to get through a pint or 4 of those taster things. £5.50 for a sample of 4 is not too bad a price. Would have tried to make my way through them all but I just couldnt manage it. Staff were friendly and explained to me what I had bought. It's not a cheap place in all honesty but it's aimed at price = quality. Worthy of the visit and get to see what all the fuss is about. Went in on a Tuesday night, not busy but still a reasonable crowd, was taking a couple of American colleagues out to show them some of Glasgow, which kinda failed as they didn't want to move on from this place, guess that says something about the place. Started off with a round of flights, these are trays of 4 half pints of a range of there draft beers, well worth it, means you get a good range and can pick what to have next. The Americans were very impressed, especially one of them who loved the range of Ports and Imperial Stouts, not my thing but each to there own. After a few drinks we ordered food, well needed to soak up a bit of the alcohol, the fair is nothing to far out there, burgers and the like, but what they did have was very good. One of my all-time favourite bars - lovely, knowledgeable staff, beautiful view of the Kelvingrove, there's usually something fun going on and there is an excellent selection of their own beers as well as interesting guest beers on draft. Can be crowded at the weekend but there never seems to be any trouble and it's never too loud, just the right level of music and chatter. Food is usually excellent, although the menu is pretty small - but they have recently started to step it up a bit and I would recommend the veggie haggis balls - kinda like pakora and really nice as a drinking snack to accompany your beer. If you're looking for a wee takeaway there is a nice selection of bottled beers too. There is also a homebrew club which currently meets on the first Monday of the month - so if you're into brewing your own or would like to learn then pop along for some friendly chat and advice! read more

This was our 4th attempt to find something to eat in the Kelvingrove area around 7pm on a Tuesday night. We finally found a place open with seating available. We sit down and maybe 7 to 10 minutes later a server comes by. He tells us that they are only allowed to have children before 8pm. It does not matter if they are eating dinner, everyone under 18 must leave; cannot even eat outside on the sidewalk. We understood because it was now 720. 38 minutes later our hamburgers were finally served. (They only have hamburgers.). We could not stay, so they gave us to go boxes. The beer was ok, in my opinion this was trying to be an American Style bar in Glasgow. The beer tasted like American craft beers. After we got back to the apartment, I tasted the hamburger. First bite was flavorful with the fixings of ketchup and mustard (no malt vinegar for fries) and the extras. When I got to the actual meat, I was not impressed. I felt it was dry and plain with no flavor. My daughter liked hers. I did not hate mine, but it was nothing special. read more

I sit on the fence when it comes to Brewdog, I like their style, the in your face cheekiness of the merchandising and the fun element of it all. It can also be said I love beer, real ale and craft beer especially I just fail to love Brewdog beer except strangely the punk IPA which is magic. It is though all in all a great bar, great atmosphere and for those reasons alone it's a must. Millions do love their beer so I'm just in the minority. read more

This is one of the best bars in Glasgow in my opinion if you are looking for genuinely the best selection of world craft beers in the city. It is a little bit on the pricey side but the quality is there and you don't go into bars like this to get drunk in,the beers here are brewed to be enjoyed. The also serve a mean bit of food to partner your beer at great prices. The decor is kinda industrial with tables made of pallets and metallic influences throughout. With a home brew club,stew Sunday and board game nights with a decent music playlist in the background it really is a sociable pub to go to. While I am not a fan of beer myself, I go here with those who are a fan, and of BrewDog in particular. I used to be a great fan of the food, loved the Pickle bites, described as mini pickles in batter and deep fried, but they are now serving pickle slices in batter with the same menu description, which come out soggy and disappointing and leave you with a slightly sour taste in the mouth. The Veggie Haggis bites and burgers are still good, but I have a real thing for pickles so this now disappoints for me :( read more

BrewDog Glasgow - Hardcore IPA, awesome taste! - Bars Near Me - Glasgow, GLG

So love Brewdog Glasgow for three reasons: 1) Epic beers. You should know by now of Brewdog's craft beers which they offer up alongside a small but (usually) interesting selection of guest beers from the likes of Mikkeller, 8 Wired, Cromarty, and the like. You'll usually find IPAs, dark stouts and porters, wheat beers, fruity numbers and even pilsners up for a try. Mix up a beer flight (4x 1/3rd pints on a wooden paddle) if you can't decide or ask the super-nice staff for a taster. Moving on nicely to... 2) The staff - Brewdog Glasgow have some of the loveliest, hoppiest, eager to please beer freaks this side of... well somewhere, uh, maybe Copenhagen? Anyway, even when the bar is rammed, they'll still take time to recommend and help you choose your perfect draft (or bottle). 3) And lastly the food. Brewdog have managed to keep it simple with superb gourmet burgers, handmade pizza and gorgeous cheese and meat platters. Using high quality locally sourced ingredients the value for money rating is off the scale. On Sunday's they do special stews but I've yet to sample that delight. My only teeny-weeny gripe is they once ran out of all food when I'd been drooling over the prospect of a epic burger all day! Apart from that I can't fault the place Ah just remembered some extra bonus points for Brewdog... It's opposite the awesome Kelvingrove so the view out of the windows whilst sipping a tasty tipple is spectacular. And they've board games too, Magnetic Fishpond was a disappointment, but Pop-Up Pirate made up for it read more
