I've been going here for a long time and this is one of my favorite places to drink coffee and work. My go-to coffee is the lavender cold brew, but I sometimes choose the pour over and expressos. Their food is one of the best for breakfast in five points. From breakfast tacos to a sausage kolache, it is delicious! In addition, the people are awesome and very friendly. They give a good vibe to this place. Overall, this place is awesome to hang out, work, or study while having some delicious food, coffee, and beer. You guys are the best!! read more

Wow I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. Holy smokes this places is awesome. I came across it during my first trip to Jax to visit my then boyfriend, now husband three years ago. It was the most incredible cold brew I'd had, and they've really grown into a community staple. We love riding our bikes there, and have shared a ton of memories over the years at that little place. I love Brew and their unique drinks of the month that are always amazing. I never thought I could have an "experience" while eating a marshmallow but they made it happen. The kolaches didn't look like much but we deferred to fellow Yelpers and ordered them anyway. We were so glad we did as they were so delicious! Bun was soft and slightly sweet and the spinach filling complimented the dough well. This is such a great place to grab a coffee and grab a bite to eat. I love their coffee - I think it's the best coffee in Jax. Their tacos are also delicious - I recently had the chorizo and sweet potato and loved it. My friend also has really enjoyed their vegan options. Based on all the great reviews this place has received, I was very excited to finally try it and walked in thinking I was going to 100% love it! I stopped by after my run on a beautiful day to get my morning coffee with my dad and we were both very disappointed. The service was slow, unhelpful and almost rude. We asked the girl in the front a few questions about the brews they had available and she simply pointed to the wall without even making eye contact with us. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, we finally received our order of 2 coffees (We didn't mind waiting with it being a Saturday and the place being packed). The taste was also very mediocre. I'm a big fan of salted caramel coffee or salted caramel anything for that matter so I tried the salted caramel latte and it was simply not good and not hot when I took my first sip. The place is in an awesome area and it's very modern and cool inside but with many other good competitors in the area, I doubt I will be stopping by again. read more

What I love about Brew is the location and the constant new art work on the walls, the funky bathroom paint, and the fact that I can get a coffee, and then a glass of wine. Basically I love everything about Brew. I come for the coffee and stay for the cool work environment. I am not the only one there are always people working or groups of friends catching up inside. Brew just has the ability to make your feel comfortable. The staff are always super helpful and they work like lighting to make sure you get that cup of joe as quickly as humanly possible! I love this place mostly because it's one of the few places in the immediate area where you can order an egg-based breakfast on a weekday before 11am (not counting Starbucks or Einstien Bros). Their prices might seem a little higher as a result, but everything I've eaten here has been excellent. Their wide selection of beers makes it a prime location for a breakfast of champions. Check the boards, because the selection changes frequently. read more

Wandered in because I needed a snack and some caffeine before a haircut. I saw online that they had avocado toast all day but when I arrived around 2:30 it seemed they only had a small selection of premade pastries. I was disappointed but I went with the sausage and cheese kolache because girl's gotta eat and English breakfast tea. The kolache was a delightful surprise. It was a carby pillow surrounding a fatty heaven. My tea was also delicious and even though I couldn't find any sweeteners drinking it straight wasn't bad. The staff seemed sweet and accommodating. The guy next to me spilled his beer and they were so quick to clean it up and give him a new beer. I'd love to come back for some avocado toast for real this time and I'd probably get the tea again. read more

There's a lot to like at BREW. They make all syrups in-house - love that homemade aspect. Pretty cool location, plenty of seating, competitive prices. Music selection was definitely not for me - screechy electronic and guitar, volume up pretty loud. I chose to leave a little early because I was pretty distracted by it. Okay so after a second visit to Brew I feel ready to review. The atmosphere of the place is trendy but laid back. Prices are appropriate for the fancy pants coffee they serve (although I'm normally content with a coffee from 7-11...!). My iced coffee/cold brew was about $4.25 for 12oz. I had lavender flavor added which was ok but I probably wouldn't have it again in the future. My main issue was that I felt out of place here. The staff were very nice, but I definitely didn't feel hipster enough. I guess when a new song began playing on the radio and the man behind the counter scoffed and said "who even listens to guster anymore?" is when that feeling fully developed. Sure it's not a big deal by any means, but it made me feel like I was in a place that was too cool for school. Overall coffee was tasty and atmosphere was neat, but I'll probably only come back when I'm willing to spend over $3 for a cup of coffee. read more

I like BREW. It's unabashedly hipster. From the expansive menu of trendy sodas to the skinny guy in thick glasses crafting beer cocktails to the Edison bulbs dangling from the exposed ceiling, this place bleeds trendiness. They did a beautiful job designing this space. If you haven't heard, the menu is broken down into four respective categories: craft beer, craft sodas, coffee and toast. The scope of the menu is very limited, but it seems like a lot of effort is taken to ensure that the very highest quality ingredients are used in every category. So let's talk about it. The beer menu is respectable. I'm sure they are still building it out, but currently they have 4 taps and a big cooler full of local, regional and national craft beer brands. Two of the four drafts are from Florida as of 8/14. I'd say about 90% of the beer is canned, which is a cool trend. Canning allows less exposure to light and air than bottles, which means the beer you are drinking tastes just the way the brewer intended rather than being tweaked from exposure. The remaining beers are bombers of some harder to find craft beer. This toast is the real deal. BREW sources it's bread from Community Loaves, and has worked with Dig Foods to source the toppings. They have three varieties right now. I had the Rye with currant jelly. I love rye, and the rye bread from Community Loaves is fragrant with cracked rye but not overpowering. The currant jam tasted very bright and citrusy, with fairly large slices of currant berries which add a nice texture element. I'm looking forward to trying the others. I didn't have a chance to try any of the coffee in a traditional sense. I know they work with Bold Bean, as well as roasters from around the country to source their espresso. I did have one of the beer cocktails - the hipster speedball. It's a 4oz pour of chilled coffee with the remaining 12oz of whatever stout they have on draft. They had oil slick this time, which is a coffee stout. I was expecting the combination to be a little sweeter, but the stout they have is more on the dry side with a sharp dark chocolate bite. Definitely bitter, but not bad at all with a the rye toast. Overall I really enjoy this new spot. I'd give them 5 stars when they flesh out the draft list and food menu a little more. I think the scope is still too small. The people they hired to run the store are friendly and very knowledgeable. The amount of care BREW put into creating the space and hand selecting everything on the menu tells me a lot about the management. Hat's off to the entire crew, because that type of dedication should keep this place thriving for a long time to come. read more

Coffee + Beer = Brew. This place is pretty awesome. Here's why: You can get beer, wine, or coffee. If you have that friend that doesn't drink but you want to meet up for happy hour, this is a great place to do it as they have some really good coffee offerings. This review based on just coming in and getting some chai. This place was okay. The counter is set-up weird, right in front just after you walk in. To check ID's for the late crowd, I guess?? Ordered a dirty chai with a shot of vanilla. Its good, but nothing spectacular. The service was a little aloof...cashier who took my order was polite but not necessarily engaging. No eye contact whatsoever and as soon as I started signing my bill, just turned and left to go to the back to chat with the other customers. The barista was no better, just kinda made my drink then handed it to me (again, no eye contact) and said, "here's your chai." Jesus, I'm not expecting you guys to be my best friend, but a little warmth and welcoming would be nice. Maybe a "Have a nice day, see you next time" on my way out, at least? :/ This isn't a bad place, but I personally wouldn't go back...Would rather go somewhere where they might actually WANT me to come back. read more

My husband and I attended a beer and charcuterie event at Brew during JAX beer week. We had been to Brew before for a drink but it had been 8 months so I thought it would be nice to stop back in and check it out and I was definitely interested in the charcuterie pairing. My husband and I were late due to work and delays in transit so I called the restaurant to let them know we would be approx 15 minutes late. A female answered and was super friendly. She let me know that they would not start serving until 6:20ish so no worries. We got to the restaurant at 6:12pm and there were two seats at a table. A female bartender motioned for us to go sit there when the owner told her no because they were saved for someone else who was coming, so much for first come, first serve. Although the restaurant sold tickets and knew how many people would be at the event they did not have two seats set up for us so we were seated at the end of the bar and pretty much ignored the majority of the time by the Brew staff. Chef Howard from 13 gypsies came over and talked to us but to get a water refill or to ask to try the cream cheese resulted in us needing to flag down the servers who were too busy socializing with their friends at the bar. The cured meats were divine and chef Howard was amazing it is just unfortunate that the staff at brew were too busy hanging out with their friends to adequately check on the other guests. read more

I really like the concept where you order at the register then take your number. The food is then delivered fresh from the kitchen. I eat low carb and this menu is missing that option. Well before we knew about the Yelp event here at Brew our book club planned to meet here. After the Yelp event I was even more excited about coming back. There is so much hype around Brew, I really wasn't sure they could hold up to it but I was wrong. At the Yelp event we got to try the beer cocktails and toasts but I was looking forward to their cold brew. I was the first in our group to show up at about 10am on a Saturday morning. I was the only person there and during the hour or so we were there, a few people came in and got stuff to go but we were really the only ones there. It was the perfect spot for our little group. I went with the cold brew with soy milk and the toast with goat cheese, kimchi, and arugula. I loved that they served the cold brew (and other drinks, too) in heavy beer glasses. I wasn't sure my drink would stay cold (I'm a slow drinker) but whatever they're doing works. The toast was great, honestly I could have just eaten the bread on it's own and been fine but yum! Craft beer and espresso bar, what a cool concept! Perfect for the Fivepoints. The bar is poured concrete and the lighting are those cool Edison light bulbs dangling above you. This place is a mix of bar and bakery. We went for brunch and ordered mimosas, coffee and a small bite from the food menu. Quite impressed with the beer cocktails. Was tempted to try one but I was already content with my mimosa. I once again ordered well with the house-made Kolache. Mine was fork and knife necessary because they cook an egg any way you like it and slide it in the middle. Heavenly warm buttery goodness and I should have ordered two.
