Came here 10:30am and they've already ran out of biscuits! What? Ok cool, so they have other options: sourdough or 7-grain breads. I went with the sourdough for the sausage n egg sandwich. While the sandwich itself tasted good, it was just a tad bit too small for the price. I've also got their Ice Vanilla Latte, the Ice Cereal Milk Latte and their pre-made watermelon lemonade. Unfortunately I did not like my Latte mainly because all I taste was milk. $4.50 for a cup of milk basically, where's the taste of espresso or vanilla? Oh well, beside that the Cereal Milk Latte was fun try, with this one I did taste the flavor, which was good. I believe it was chocolate cornflakes. The watermelon lemonade was ok. Although I was unsatisfied with my first drink here, I'll probably give them another try since they do have other flavor and other choice of sandwiches on the menu. It pains me to feel the need to write this. I come to salem weekly, sometimes multiple times a week, and I always make sure to stop here. There coffee and sandwiches are phenomenal, and the service is amazing. However, today I went in and was yelled at for taking a video outside the shop, and then they were rude to me and my friends the rest of the time I was there. There were hairs in my coffee too. The person who treated us poorly I hadn't ever seen before, but I was just really bummed because normally it's a great experience. read more

We were in Salem for a few days and stopped by Brew Box on the way to a museum. The employees were very accommodating when we asked if we could get a lunch sandwich well before lunchtime. We ordered two mocha lattes and a grilled cheese panini with bacon. Great place with great drinks and people. I will say that if you come here during October, expect a long wait. Salem is darling but isn't equipped to handle the huge influx of people during their high season. We waited over 45 min for coffee and food because there were so many people. Very safe, which I really appreciate during Covid. They've set up a check-out right by the door, so only 1 person/party goes in at a time, orders, and then goes outside to wait for their order. They have the menu posted on their window so you can decide while you're in line. Their food and coffee are both A+, these are people who understand how to make coffee and it shows. I adore their cappuccinos. I love their baked goods and their sandwiches. They are also relatively quick in getting out your order which means you're not waiting around for too long if you're going during your lunch break. Of course, they were a bit slower during the fall, and October weekends were often very busy, but that's to be expected in Salem! 10/10 I would recommend going here for breakfast/lunch/coffee. read more

On a cool day as you walk around Salem nothing will beat having something warm in your hands. Loved that they had oat milk and vegan pastries! The vegan pumpkin chocolate chip cookie and vegan pop tart were amazing! For covid, they only allow one at a time inside to order. Just wait outside until the person before has ordered. We visited Salem on a Saturday in October and didn't make reservations for breakfast. Everywhere we tried had waits over 2 hours so we were pleased to find a little cafe that we could order breakfast to go. We had the avocado toast and an egg & cheese on a homemade biscuit. The avocado toast was great although a little salty but the homemade was delicious! We enjoyed their matcha but I was not a huge fan of the hot chocolate but I don't typically like dark chocolate. The prices were fair and the wait was only about 10 minutes. I definitely recommend trying them out! read more

Out of the half dozen or so times ive been in, service has been amazing, the line always moves quickly, and have a variety of coffees from Tandem (roasters from Portland, ME) that will be sure to put a smile on any coffee drinker. Went here for the first time and I had a breakfast burrito that tasted great and some pretty amazing iced coffee. My only recommendation is that the barista could be a little more pleasant. When my wife purchased the order she was told that this isn't Starbucks so very few accommodations can be made. I thought that the point could have been made without some of the attitude but other than that it was good. read more

Regrettably not the friendliest of places with only limited seating available. They do a flat white though which was brilliant. Ventured in here while visiting Salem. I was dying for coffee and had read about their Cereal Milk latte so I figured I'd check it out. It was the Golden Graham Cereal Milk Latte and it was delicious without being overly sweet. We also tried their Bourbon Bergamot Latte which was very delicious as well as unique! On my recent visit - a chilly, rainy morning - I had a hankering for some hearty breakfast fare and something warming. I was delighted to find a menu replete with some of my favorite culinary components - eggs, cheese, biscuits, avocado, sourdough, and much more. I ordered a hot chai latte to go with them, and a slice of blueberry pound cake. Knowing full well that this was entirely too much food, curiosity had simply gotten the better of me. My chai latte was served at an excellent drinking temperature. The foam was quantitatively appropriate and qualitatively pleasing. The sizes for their beverages are also pleasantly modest - 8,12, or 16 ounces. Though the chai latte was enjoyable, it lacked sufficient spice and complexity for put it over the top - an aspect of the meal I soon found to be a common theme. The egg and cheese on biscuit enticed and intrigued in ways I've not yet experienced with regards to breakfast sandwiches. The egg (which I believe they called a souffle but which resembled nothing of the sort) sat as a gelatinous cube between two slices of biscuit. Though a sublime hint of sage permeated the sandwich, the egg lacked in both seasoning and viscosity. The biscuit was sweeter than expected, and presented precisely the desired ratio of cohesion to crumbliness. The avocado on sourdough normally comes with tomato but I opted out. The avocados were properly ripe, salt and pepper were employed in exactly the amounts I prefer, and the sourdough was toothsome without being tough. Nice execution on simple fare. The blueberry pound cake exerts a surprising amount of lemon for its lack of appearance in the pastry's title, and I fear the blueberry is a bit muted. The slice itself is also a bit dry. The quantity and value for this item, as for all the rest was substantial. The blueberry scones looked more appetizing, but they were a third the size for the same price - a difficult purchase to justify without better information readily available. The two employees were friendly, professional, and efficient. I enjoy the largely monochromatic decor, with a few colorful, coffee-related accents. Overall I'm a fan of the establishment and intend to return in the hopes that future visits will give me reason to bump this review up to 5 stars as so many have given it before me. read more

This is my favorite hidden gem of Salem! They're coffee is amazing and they always have some interesting take on an old favorite. Though I do prefer their lattes, their ice coffee is good as well. Though it's a small place, they have a pretty good selection of food and non-coffee drinks. Their mint lemonade is SO refreshing, definitely a favorite, and their pesto grilled cheese (not a regular item) is also a winner. They are always accommodating and complete my order in a convenient amount of time. Though I give a five star review, that's mostly for the quality of what they offer to customers. There has been a few instances that they ran out of something in the middle of the day that seems pretty essential. This could just be my bad luck but it seems like it happens often. My wife and I were in Salem. We needed a little kick. We saw this spot that looked great and had great reviews. We stoped in and ordered two expressos. I have no idea what that expresso was but it was repulsive. We could not even consume it. I thought of returning and telling them but did not want to be rude. Please note that we only got an expresso. So we do not know how the other items are but the expresso we were served was so rancid I'm writing this review. Surprisingly horrible iced coffee! Very sour. Couple of us tried it, and all of us don't like it. They looked at us and said "yes, our coffee is highly acidic, maybe our cream soured?" Then offered to make me iced americano. Since no one wants the iced coffee, I excepted it. However their iced americano tasted just as sour as their iced coffee. Excellent addition to downtown Salem! I went to brew box for the first time today and it was great! I got an iced coffee and avocado + tomato toast. The bread was sourdough -yum. I discovered this place on a random walk around of Salem, it was completely unexpected. They serve up coffee from Tandem in Portland, ME. Which is a fantastic little roastery offering all sorts of awesome beans. In a chat with one of the owners I found out that they are hoping to offer more guest beans for the single origin. So they'll offer than as pour over brews but also as full bags of coffee. NICE! I'm stoked that there is a local place where I'll be able to satisfy my coffee discovery craving! Prices are fairly high for the coffee. A cold brew was over $4 for one size, small. The bagged coffee was at the MSRP. My friend got a decaf tea and the price was fair. They also offer Chemex as well as other espresso options. Customer service is awesome and the folks behind the counter are happy to answer any questions you have with a smile. Seating is... Limited and on these high steel unbacked chairs that I, as a short person, find beyond uncomfortable. My legs go numb after 15 minutes. The table surface is a little ledge that has enough room for a tablet or book. This is NOT a location where you can order a coffee and churn out your novel. I suppose you can if you have a MacBook Air and are over 6ft tall so the seating is more comfortable. Anyway, it is a lovely place to get a cup of coffee and a treat.
