Kitsap Septic - Our tank lids. With no evidence of the work that went on!

Kitsap Septic

Absolutely I feel fortunate to have found them. Late one night the septic alarm went off for first…read moretime since we moved in 18 years. Stopping the blaring was not easy (because the malfunctioning alarm off switch, a mislabeled electrical panel, and more. Anyway, in the morning hubby called the septic company that most recently pumped our tank two years ago and was told about the diagnosis service charge and that they'd probably need a $600 pumping before they could work. And if they diagnose electrical (like pump or the alarm box), they need to call the electricians who'd have another service charge... in the meantime, I searched online and saw the rave reviews for Kitsap Septic. So, I called and was told it sounded like electrical issues (pump, floats, and the alarm box) and that it's doubtful our tank needs pumping! I was told to call Aquarius pump and they'll prob use a sump pump and then take care of things quickly, correctly, and at a reasonable price. (And if the tank does need pumping, they'll call him.) It all went exactly as expected. Aquarius Pump came e as to the next morning and got it working enough to use the plumbing, but said to fix it properly, he'd need to return to replace the pump and alarm box. In another couple of days, it was just a memory. Except we now have a fantastically honest and highly regarded Septic service who I feel about recommending!!!

We suddenly realized our septic tank needed to be pumped right away and called Kitsap Septic. We…read moreused them a year ago and were thoroughly impressed with their service. I've been lax in checking and clearing the filter and now we've literally paid for it. It isn't cheap to pump the tank but that's what the guys had to do. But let's go back in time to earlier this morning. When I called the office to set up the service I talked to Darren who was extremely friendly and was clearly dedicated to providing excellent customer service. He was hopeful his guys could show up today, which is exactly what they did. A two-man team, headed by Ross, arrived not quite two hours later. Ross is a jovial guy who laughs freely and shares his good spirits with you. I immediately liked him. He and his partner made quick work of pumping the tank even though the tank design presented problems, something other companies we've used have complained about. Ross gave us a refresher course in checking and cleaning the filter but just HAD to let us know that if I'd kept that filter clean we wouldn't have needed the tank pumped. In fact on the paperwork he left with our receipt, he estimated the tank shouldn't need pumping for another three years. So, now slightly poorer but much wiser you can bet I'll be keeping up on keeping that filter clean.

Hemley's Septic - Incoming power for pump tank piped in from home (done by myself)

Sean and Al came by to check things out. They found a blockage in the inlet and they took care of the issue in maybe 20-30 minutes. They were great! The estimated price for the visit was already talked about with me from the dispatcher and the end cost for the visit wasn't too far off. Hopefully no more septic system issues come again for a long time but when it does I'm calling Hemley's!

I contacted hemleys during October 27th for a full septic tank that appeared to be failing. On Oct…read more27th they came out replaced a burned out pump and stated there was drawdown issues on our lateral lines. The 29th they came out again to try and diagnose/fix the issue. Eventually while we were at work they left, I got no phone call or communication and the massive hole in our yard filled back in destroying the landscape. I eventually reached someone by phone requesting an update, thinking our septic was resolved. One of the tehcs told us our DRAINFIELD has failed and they tried a temporary fix, but until it can be rectified pooling will occur in the yard if too much water used in the home. I was told on the phone by the tech that unfortunately this could be close to a 30k fix and it was left at that, with no guidance on what to do or where to go. I paid my bills right away to hemleys that week for the work they did complete. This process ended up taking Nov until February to rectify due to the misdiagnosis from hemleys. I had to pay $5000 to a drainfield designer pay numerous fees to the County for inspection which all took time. Meanwhile we had pooling in our yard and could not fully use our water and appliances in a house hold of 4. A massive 8ft by 8ft deep hole was in the center of our backyard all this time from testing by designer and county. Eventually, I found a very reputable septic company to complete the design work from the designer. Within hrs of the septic company starting the job and doing some basic diligence they discovered 2 of the 4 lines had valves closed/broken and that was all that needed to be replaced. Fortunately, this company was honest and came forward with the information. However, hemleys cost my family nearly 8k in unnecessary work hiring a designer, other fees all due to this misdiagnosed failing drain field. On April 22, 2026 I respectfully asked for a manager or owner of Hemleys to discuss this issue. I was told to provide the documents from the last company and they reviewed county records. I supplied this within minutes. I then never received a single phone call or update as I called daily until 4/30/26. I was consistently told the owner and or manager are not available on several days. And then the manager after 2 days of that stated the owner has not reviewed this yet. This was an extreme inconvenience to our household and costly due to the negligence that made for several months of an inoperable septic tank when this issue could have been resolved in a few hours like our newly hired company completed. At this time we have been blown off by this company we had used and recommended for years. Based on the data and information we have we will continue escalating this in the necessary manner legally as we have the emails sent to our designer from Hemleys supporting them diagnosing failing drain field, that in fact was no where near failing.

During our first septic emergency in over 20 years of using Dano's, we felt we'd called a service company that has forgotten that getting their customers back on line in an emergency is their #1 job. It took an emergency and some quick review reading online to find a small, independent company to show us real customer service! Dano's explained on the call the costs we'd incur from the $250+ service fee, hourly repair cost, $600 pumping charge on a tank they pumped 2years ago necessary for diagnosis, and the possible need for them to call in the electrician with another service fee, etc before anyone fixed anything. Confident we had an electrical issue if not 3 different ones, we called a highly 5-star reviewed guy who listened to our issues, diagnosed the probable root of the problems, and told us to call Aquarius Pump directly, adding that they'd prob use a sump pump and if in fact the tank needs pumping they'd call him. Easy-peasy. The next morning Aquarius had us able to use the system, but not fully fixed, and a couple days later with the new pump, floats, and alarm box, the emergency was over. No evidence of repairs to the lawn, and we knew who to call in the future, and recommend to others... and it won't be Dano's! PS The name I highly recommend is easy to remember if you live in KITSAP county and are looking for a SEPTIC company, lol.

Huge shout out to Dan, owner of All Terrain Contractors and thanks to the Yelpsters who recommended…read morethe company. Long story short: slow draining bathtub and gurgling toilet clued us in that our sewer lines needed something. Dan returned my Yelp request for contractors and provided helpful guidance and no pressure offer to check it out. He was very clear and precise up front about the cost of inspection and then costs for possible repairs, which depended upon what he and the scope discovered. He installed two clean outs, relined the 50+ year old cement sewer line, applied for permit and inspection, and was on site during inspection and promptly filled in the hole. His crew was polite, efficient, and tidy! Dan was helpful and extremely communicative and punctual. We have recommended ATC to others and will call him again if ever needed - which we shouldn't but it is comforting to know we know a trustworthy and honest plumbing contractor!

Dan showed up the same day to take a look and walked us through what needed to be done. Everyone else I called said it'd be at least a week before they could get someone out. Not fun when you have the water off! The crew was on time, had the right equipment, and got everything dug up and replaced way faster than we expected. What stood out most was how clean they left everything -- no mess, no damage to the yard, and they even compacted everything smooth again before they left. Couldn't even tell there was an issue. Price was fair and communication was great from start to finish. Definitely the kind of company you keep in your phone for the next project. I'll be hiring them for a few other projects on my rentals, they have a wide range of skills!
