I needed some septic work and saw Lakeside Septic at my neighbors house. I flagged Rick down and he was kind enough to stop over and take a look at what I had going on and make recommendations for some much needed maintenance. The last septic company only pumped out the main tank and Rick identified that the secondary grey water tank also needed to be pumped out. He installed a new pump and risers and helped make the whole shebang more efficient to service in the future. I didn't feel taken advantage of and he did a great job! We went with Lakeside Septic back in 2013 for our septic system pumping. The owner at the time said we needed to have this service done every three years. We repeated the service in 2016. However, in 2019, upon consulting another vendor, we learned that our system, with just two residents, didn't require such frequent pumping. The new vendor suggested we could go much longer than 3 years between pumpings. It's now 2024, and we haven't pumped since 2016, and everything is still running smoothly. We still have the new company check our system every three years, but they keep reporting we are good and don't need to pump yet. It's disappointing that Lakeside Septic may have prioritized profit over honesty by recommending a more frequent pumping schedule than necessary. Doing business with those who prioritize transparency and integrity is important to us. read more

This was the second time I had reached out to Lakeside, the first for a backup issue 5 years ago, and this time to get the tank pumped. Both times Rick spent the time to answer questions and walk through the system with me. He was very thorough yet quick in getting the job done. The price he quoted was very comparable. He did have to charge just a little bit more for an issue that I saw firsthand, so it was completely understandable and still a great price for the situation. CUSTOMER BE AWARE!! You will be charged a lot of more than the quoted price; Rick will find a way to charge you extra for basic tank dumping. I paid almost $1,000k ($994). First he let me know he charges extra for removing the screws to open the cover of the tank, another $200 for using a special small machine to remove some wipes found in the tank, and another $75 for using his precious hands to place the wipes into my own provided trash bag. He initially quoted $648 for the routine septic tank dumping, then gradually the bill ended up %54 higher. I suggest new customers obtain service quotes from other providers. We've used Lakeside Septic frequently and had typically good service in the past. Unfortunately not today. Contacted Rick to restore system function. Pump float and alarm float seemed to have both failed. Rick came out and pumped the tanks, installed a switch float but did not wire it up because, as he later explained, he has a heart condition and a pacemaker and has been told to do nothing electrical whatsoever. While he assured me that he told me about this when I asked him to come out I have absolutely no recollection of him saying so. He did nothing with the alarm despite me indicating that it wasn't working. He left the job site having handed my wife a work order/invoice indicating that the alarm was working correctly - I'm currently ordering a new float and alarm system. I'll install it myself because frankly having Lakeside Septic install it would be a waste of money. When I spoke with him after I got home and discovered that my septic system was non-functional he told me that he'd done the job correctly and that he'd told my wife all I needed to do was splice the electrical wires for the float. After paying over $850 it's pretty disappointing to be left with a non-functioning system. read more

Rick has always been on time, professional and helpful with our septic issues. I was relieved to have him out today and find out our concern was solved just with a pumping and cleaning of the filter. Not happy! One day after getting our septic tank pumped for $600, we ran our washing machine. The water drained and backed up our downstairs toilet. Water flooded the bathroom wood flooring and entryway. Of course it was Sunday, so he wasn't available! He came out Monday and unclogged the line from the house to the tank. Of course, this was my fault for not having the tank pumped sooner! He didn't hesitate to let me know this! One day after, what a coincidence!!!! Charged us another $200 for 10 minutes worth of work!! We should have gone with A Wesco to begin with!! I feel totally ripped off with this experience! I'm a first time customer. Found Lakeside Septic on Angie's list because of the high quality ratings. Booked Rick for a regular 3 year pumping of our septic tank, only to find out when we opened the tank, the pump had failed several weeks prior. Of course we were quite surprised. Rick's knowledge of septic systems is impressive and within a few days removed and replaced the pump, switch float, pipes and added a new alarm system, and new septic risers and lids. (Electrician had to come out to wire up alarm since the wires were not long enough). He spent extra time evaluating our drain field and answering all our questions. I called them to pump our septic system. The kids use way too much toilet paper and plugged the inlet into the tank. This was new years eve and I dug up the tank lid and unplugged it myself. I called them and described exactly what the situation was and was given a quote. This was an early pump out historically after about a years since last time, and I was never charged extra before by the 3-4 other companies even when it was several years. He saw exactly what I described on the phone, but wanted to upsell me on services I did not want. He said he "Only did things the right way" so if I would not pump it without the extras. I would not buy the upgrades, so he left without pumping. This guy wants it his way or the highway, totally lacking in customer service mentality. read more

RIck was very good to deal with and did whatever he could to make this a painless and inexpensive experience. When he arrived it looked like my septic pump had died and he started looking at replacing it. I noticed some smoke coming from where the electrical line was spliced for it and he helped me temporarily bypass the splice to see if the pump actually worked. This wasn't something he had to do but he was very helpful. Turned out the splice was bad but the pump still worked so ended up spending far less to have the splice fixed vs. replacing the pump. Will definitely be using Lakeside next time. read more

This is the first time I'm writing a review. I felt compelled because others need to know the extent to which this company does such a poor, inadequate, and shady job. The person who came to replace our septic tank for $800 told us that they cannot warranty the pump or the labor, and that we would need to replace it within 1-2 years. He also said that we need a $10,000-$20,000 job done to get the problem we are having solved in adequate way. We decided to just replace the pump until we could figure out the best course of action to take. After three months it broke down and our basement bathroom flooded in pretty dramatic way. We just called another company today to take care of the problem and they said they warranty all labor and parts. I would listen very attentively to the other negative reviews and avoid Lakeside Septic at all costs. Save yourself the money and the energy by being suspicious and questioning a lot of what they say if you do decide to use them. read more
