    Night time at Wings

Tons of cheap souvenirs (tshirts, hats, mugs, postcards, etc.) as well as anything you might need for spending a day at the beach (swimsuit, sunglasses, towels, sun block). You'll want to wander the entire store as prices go from spendy to clearance depending on where you're standing. I was surprised to learn that WINGS is a chain of such stores - I've been to their outlets in Saint Augustine and in Fort Lauderdale.

WIngs is really the best beach store I have yet to come across. Prices are cheap which is very unusual for a store like this. Postcards 4 for $1, shirts 3 for $10, any kind of seashell you could want, big or small, a few bucks each. We had a blast here, got a ton of stuff at a great price that is hard to find elsewhere and now have wonderful memories of San Diego right at home.

Too many to count. Is there a demand for DEAD Baby Sharks in a jar to put on your desk? I hope this place goes out of business!!

My girlfriend and I were attending the OB Farmers Market (05-08-2013) when we came across this store. It looked like a normal souvenir shop and both my girlfriend and I had every intention on purchasing some corny items for friends/family back in L.A. The experience we had just had an Ocean Gifts & Shells was still fresh in our minds. As we were walking around this store we came across some disgusting items for sale. What does a Souvenir / Swimsuit shop need? Oh yeah Dead Baby Sharks floating in jars and the heads of Alligators and/or Crocodiles. I will refer the Owner who I hope reads this review to this link https://www.sharksavers.org/en/education/sharks-are-in-trouble/other-threats-facing-sharks/ and see if you as a business owner in OB wish to continue supporting this practice. I told the cashier I was disgusted with that they would sell these items in their store. I had every intention of spending money here until I saw these items. After I saw these items both my girlfriend and I left without buying anything. So basically the items in which this business is selling actually prevented it from taking in revenue. I hope this business goes under. I hope that people from the surrounding area and visiting OB avoid this place like the Black plague.

Shame on you to sell these in your stores.

Great place for the ignorant tourist to go and spend money. People buying preserved sharks, blow-fish and alligator heads and saying they have wonderful memories of San Diego at home. You've got to be kidding me. You're either being paid for your corny reviews or you have no idea about the marine and wildlife of the area. In either case you have no respect for nature and are as ignorant as they come. And, shame on you WINGS for displaying and selling these products year after year.

I knew that I would be reading some crap about this place being touristy and yes-that it is. But it does fulfill a need here in Ocean Beach-where tourists show up and need a beach towel or sunscreen for the kids. Not everything you need can be found at Max's .99 Cents and Up store down the street. I was killing time this morning and wandered around this place-it was entertaining to say the least. Every last little item you might need to hit the sand can be found here as well as shells, wind chimes, tiki's, and cool Lifeguard hoodies that I wanna get for my boy. I found some tanning oil that is hard to find this time of year and it was pretty cheap too. I go to Hawaii a lot and am proud to shop at the ABC stores over there-which are just like this Wings chain, except they sell food and drink items. In fact-Hawaii is so expensive that I practically lived out of those ABC stores and got just about everything I needed there-including dinner! They are a higher class .99 Cents store on the islands. As a kid, I went to the Strand Theater just about every weekend and I do miss it. But I don't hold new businesses that move into it's old premises in anger. I can get just as nostalgic for the old days as any one else but I am practical enough to know that time marches on and sometimes things will adjust to current circumstances and situations. I prefer other types of stores than this Wings stuff, but for some God-forsaken tourist or yahoo-this is just the place they need! So I don't go hatin on it but at the same time-if Ocean Beach were to turn into wall-to-wall Wings-type things, then I would have to start protesting and maybe burning my bra again. But for now, I can live with this store here. And maybe even find it somewhat......"charming."

It's a store that sells things that you forgot to bring to the beach, things that you lost at the beach and now need to replace, or things that you didn't know you needed at the beach until your family pointed it out to you that you needed them. That's WING'S. It's a big store with lots of hats, sandals, t-shirts... Inventory for all ages. Very touristy. Decent customer service. All at prices that aren't too unreasonable given the store's close proximity to Ocean Beach. Didn't see the offensive souvenirs this visit that some other reviewers have mentioned. Perhaps I'm unobservant, but I'd like to think they're making some better decisions. Four or even five stars if I was more confident in that. A second location is tucked out of view on the south end of Belmont Park on Mission Beach.

The thing is- I'm seriously the type of shopper who LIKES to see items worn on people & mannequins! Lol This just personally helps me visually. So, I do follow Hola Swim on Instagram (I suggest YOU should too!). The reason I waited this long is because in a few weeks, we're going to a destination wedding in Dominican Republic- and the timing to shop here worked out perfect. This brick & mortar location has been here for a few months. And, every time I've either drove by or walked by- it was closed. BUT, there's a sign posted on the door that says- CONTACT US FOR APPOINTMENTS! And that's EXACTLY what I did. I did contact Hola Swim via their Instagram- and my request for such day & time was immediately answered & there was no hesitation in accommodating me. Whew! I met Syncletica- one of the owners & she was such a gem to meet. We chatted for some time during my visit here. Her & her best friend AND business partner, Aida, have been best friends since they first met at 15 years old while working at the San Diego Zoo. The garments are LOCALLY made here in SAN DIEGO!!! And, I can seriously say the fabrics on their pieces are quality!!! This is what you are paying for!!! You can feel the thickness & stretchiness of the spandex. And, Syncletica has mentioned that the top material is lined w/ UV 50 protectant! You see- as I've mentioned to her- I would normally purchase swimwear at Target. And if you do to (or any other giant retail store) you now exactly what I'm getting at. You know the condition of their quality & the price you're paying. I bought the velvet teal/ blue hooded one piece swimsuit $90 and I'm super excited to wear it in the Caribbean!! The bikinis go for $60/ $65. And there's other merchandise available too. Visors, towels, jewelry, sunglasses, ball caps! The shop is being renovated w/ new tile & adding shelves for a new look. But, I do wanna share my love for Hola Swim! By the way- they've been invited to New York's Fashion Week (and San Diego's), featured in British Vogue, and now have a spot in Destinations (monthly magazine for Uited Airlines)!!! Support local businesses!!!!!

When we walked in, there was lots of sales being advertised on a lot of the racks when we walked in. Definitely makes a big difference since the clothing products here are definitely on the pricier end. My first time shopping at this retail store and they have a great selection related to swimwear!!! I was interested in buying a wetsuit and was also informed on the differences between the 4/3 and the 5/3 millimeters of the wetsuits. A 4/3 (4mm for the torso and 3mm for the arms) is better for moderate to cold water with higher flexibility, while the 5/3 is warmer and designed for colder, winter waters, and is slightly less flexible. My goal is to be warm as I don't want to feel too cold so I went with the 5/3. There's a good amount of fitting rooms that are good sized to be trying them on. My first time trying on wetsuits and I felt like a seal LOL!!! I purchased one but keep in mind that even with the clearance sale I got it for, it was $120+. My girlfriend tried finding bikinis but there was little sizing for her and lots of the two pieces were separated and the designs weren't matching so she didn't get any.
