The lines are uneven, the thickness is inconsistent, and the geometric elements are crooked and poorly aligned. The shading is patchy and inconsistent, with areas that look unfinished and overworked. There are multiple OBVIOUS imperfections that should have been addressed before considering the tattoo finished. What made the experience even worse was the artist's attitude when I returned to discuss the possibility of a retouch. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he was rude and made me feel uncomfortable. He also made insulting comments about the amount of tip I gave him. A tip is at the customer's discretion and should never be used as a reason to insult or disrespect a customer. I paid for a permanent piece of artwork and expected professionalism, attention to detail, and basic respect. Instead, I was left with a tattoo that I'm unhappy with, an uncomfortable experience, and the possibility of having to spend even more money with another artist to correct the work. I would not recommend getting a polynesian tattoo here, the reason I came back to this spot is because of Gary, he did me a solid for doing a tiny dragon behind my ear. And for the artist that said he could have charged me more, but instead gave me a discount, buddy..... look at your work! This does not cost $2,000. I would have been more happy to get turned down and I mean, come on, if this ain't your forte and can't do these types of design, then just say so! I could have gone somewhere else and find an artist that is actually specializing in Polynesian tattoo. For me, the poor execution of the tattoo combined with the way I was treated afterward made this an experience I would not repeat.

I absolutely recommend him, and I hope he gets lots of clients. Also, a big plus for the studio location: it's near some good and quick food options (always good when you're getting tattooed) like servandos, in n out, and wake cafe.

I asked a simple, genuine question about whether piercings on each side have any meaning. He said he didn't know, which was perfectly fine, but the way he responded afterward left me wondering if he was being sarcastic or mocking me. It felt unnecessary, unprofessional, and honestly made me hesitant to return. These days it seems like you can't ask anything without someone turning it into something political, and that's not what I came in for. I did go back for a second visit, and that experience was completely different -- much more easygoing. I guess it really just depends on who you get. She was beyond excited--but also a little nervous. Eileen totally nailed it. She was calm, reassuring, and explained everything--how the process would go, what kind of pain to expect, even how to avoid touching or moving it too much after. My experience with tattoos have not been good AT ALL....Until I walked through the doors at Breakthrough Tattoo. I wanted to get a tattoo before I left to go back to Colorado, It was very short notice. Bryan (The artist there) said that he would do the tattoo. He basically worked a double shift to fit me in his schedule even though he was booked into the middle of August. He stayed until 11 pm to complete the tattoo. The tattoo is AMAZING!!!!! I would like to say that you should ignore any negative reviews about Breakthrough because I can recommend them without any hesitation at all. They are a legit shop with an awesome vibe and chill artists who are willing to go out of their way to make sure you are happy with your art. They pride themselves in their artwork and it is more than just a business to them. It is their passion they have for the Tattoo culture that "Breakthroughs" any negative ideologies or beliefs one may have about the Tattoo industry. If you don't know where to get work done it's SIMPLE.....GO TO BREAKTHROUGH and you will walk out with AMAZING art that you won't hesitate to show off to everyone!!!! I told him I really appreciated him fitting me in and he said "when you texted me I had to find a way to fit you in before you went back to Colorado.....he did just that. Reviews about Breakthrough Tattoo that day they don't answer the phone or do bad work simply is NOT TRUE. I have witnessed personally on two different occasions them going out of their way to get the ink done that I wanted with little or no notice!! Breakthrough Tattoo is a shop that can be trusted. I can't express enough my gratitude and satisfaction that I have for Breakthrough Tattoo. If you go somewhere else that could be a mistake. They are booked for a reason. Found this place after searching trew a bunch of shops on yelp, saw the rating and positive reviews and decided to go here (especialy after knowing Tommy Towne moved over here) came in to start the process of getting my ears stretched the shop looks laid back, clean, and family friendly, all the guys there are super nice and look really into there work the best part was seeing the Forence Gump references in the restroom. so then i was talked trew the process of ear stretching and as usual with Tommy's work i came out really satisfied and with the least pain out of the piercings. while there i came across Elijah Pashby.We talked about tattoo's.. Nice guy, really informative, and answerd all my questions.. So i went trew his portfolio and liked his work, and after alittle research, Next thing i know i got a gorgeous custom rose tattoo for a really nice price from him. He blew my expectations of the tattoo i wanted and would definitly be coming back for more ink work in the future. I got my nose piercing done by Tommy back in January for my 29th birthday. He was so friendly and made me feel so comfortable about the whole experience. The shop is clean and staff is friendly. He made sure to ask where I wanted the placement and made sure I was relaxed before piercing me. He gave me detailed after care instructions and even gave me a card with his contact info in case I ever had any issues, bumps, questions and the few times I've had to text or contact him he's been great about answering all my questions. He is a fantastically talented artist! Extremely professional with a kick ass personality! His work is on point and I couldn't be happier with the tattoo he did. I went here for my first tattoo and am very pleased with the experience! Bryan did my tattoo and it turned out exactly how I wanted it. He made sure I understood what he was doing and how to take care of my tattoo during the healing process. It didn't hurt very much at all, which surprised me. The establishment appeared to be very clean and it had a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The music they were playing was pleasant and the tattoo artists were all very nice. Since this was my first tattoo, I'm not sure how the prices compare to other places, but it seemed very reasonable for the quality of the tattoo I received. Been goin to this shop for awhile now to see my guy Steve ! Steve and the fellas in this shop are extremely professional, and of course extremely talented. Getting a tattoo for a first time can be extremely intimidating, however these guys make you comfortable and confident in the product they produce. I am originally from Chicago and recently traveled to Phoenix to visit my girlfriends. We decided to come to Upland just to get tattooed here! I put a lot of research into places in California and found Upland through an artists work which is how I came across Breakthrough tattoo. After seeing a tattoo of a little elephant done by Gabe, I knew he was the tattoo artist for me! Many of my family and friends have had several tattoo's from Chris, and his crew and they are all truly amazing artists. I walked into the shop one time before the new ownership, and when I came back, I couldn't even believe it was the same place. The transformation is absolutely fantastic. This tattoo shop is hands down the best in the inland empire. There customer service and personalities around the shop are uncanny. Totally professional kind and generous. They will work with you with any idea and or project you have for them. Piercer, London Hernandez, in the best of the best. I had a horribly infected belly button that I mistakenly got pierced for very cheap and I was referred to him for help. He cleaned it, changed it out with a high quality ring and in 3 days it was back to normal. He is very clean and takes his time. Ernesto did my tattoo yesterday and I was very happy with the experience. I did a walk-in and he allowed me show him pictures of my tattoos and then he took some times to draw up his own and work on fonts. He allowed me to make changes to the tattoos and was very easy going with my little nit-picks. This was my first tattoo and he did a great job in making me comfortable and making small talk during both tattoos. read more

One of the best shops in the IE. All the artists are very talented and professional. Shop is clean and well maintained from what I observed. Wanted a portrait of my cat which can seem kinda odd, but they didnt lift an eyebrow. The shop owner, Chris, gave me a great tattoo which was above and beyond what I had originally envisioned. Gabe is the man. Had 3 sessions getting a portrait type styled tattoo on my calf. The first session I got a lot of compliments on, the second people were shocked how real the wolf looked and thought it was done. I was able to have a FaceTime consultation where we talked about the project. I live in Northern California so this was great (a lot of artists aren't able/willing to do this). First session he showed me the stencil and we were able to tweak a few things and make it exactly how I wanted. Great communication and he wants to make sure it's what you want. Also all the aftercare items are all provided to you so you don't have to worry. He explains everything in a thoughtful way to get the best experience/most out of your tattoo. The atmosphere at Elated is welcoming and inviting. Ducky has a private space where it isn't in the open like a lot of tattoo shops. Very clean and calming energy. I had 2 sessions and Ducky was always checking in to make sure I was okay. Amazing tattoo artists are hard to find he is a gem!
