It has the basics covered, they can fry an egg sunny up, over easy, and even do a decent poached egg, but the overall eating experience leaves a lot to be desired. The service was quite good with our server in a whirl of activity, and the decor has a 1950's diner vibe to it, so it's a bit nostalgic in a way. The potatoes were barely warm, the bacon ranged from greasy to overcooked, but it did taste like bacon from home. The toast had zero flavour, and the hollandaise came straight out of a packet. Perfectly serviceable, I question "Norwegian eggs" as a true American dish but perhaps I haven't spent enough time in the upper Midwest. Service was...well, I had my grade-school French corrected by the waitress, so...very French. The scrambled eggs were fine, sausages alright. Well, to begin with, the very cute and sweet waitperson had never heard of SuperTramp. Wow! That was so funny to us. We were in Paris and very disappointed in the general quality of the food at most of the restaurants. We were hungry one morning, so we Yelped for breakfast places from our La Marais hotel. Breakfast in America popped right up and was a 10 minute walk from us, so away we went. We loved everything about BiA, even the music, although we never heard a track from the Supertramp album of the same name. Obviously, the owner knew this music since one of the other waitpeople recognized a poster of the album cover we showed her one morning, and said, "yeah, we have that poster in our other story on the Left Bank." We ate there every morning that week, forgoing the awful croissants served at our hotel "breakfast." The Benedict taught me a new and extraordinary approach to Benedict. Crispy bacon, instead of chewy candian bacon or tasteless ham. What a breakthrough. We ate there every day for the week we were in Paris. Love this place. Go for the Benedict. It's delicious. I was asking some locals for a really good artisanal burger, since burgers seem to be a thing here in Paris, and I got directed to this place, nestled in the lovely Le Marais district (3eme/4eme). Fun place with a good sense of humor. The burgers seem solidly good. I'm especially amused by the All American burger, which has a red-white-blue theme (red peppers, white onions, blue cheese). I've enjoyed this place on several of my trips to Paris. For Americans who long for a traditional breakfast, this is the perfect spot. I had CC's Big Mess and a side of bacon. The food was very good as usual, but the service today was plain awful. I asked for water 3 times before I finally got it. My food sat in the window, where I could see it for more than 10 minutes while the male waiter continued to walk by it ignoring it completely. The chef even dinged the bell multiple times. Because of this my breakfast was Luke warm at best. It's a very small place, the food is always good, and it's a nice change up if you're missing the comfort of home. Diner food has to be simple, cheap, quick, and in big portions - check, and come with black filter coffee - check (endless refills!). I'm a regular here when I'm working in Paris and it's probably more for the nostalgia than the actual good quality. The burgers particularly the one with bacon and egg are Solid but not amazing and portion size should be improved. The spacing is a claustrophobic nightmare and the bathroom is too big and should have been downsized to make a bigger dining area. read more

They don't take reservations, but fortunately they move the line efficiently and we were seated after only fifteen minutes. Various servers came around often to take our order or checked up on us, to make sure that we had everything we needed. It was nice to have friendly hospitality! The plate specials are decent enough to share between two people if you're not super hungry, and cheaper than ordering a la carte (obviously). Maybe it was because we asked for blueberries in them, but our pancakes weren't fluffy - nice of them to let us have that option though. The french toast was the best of the table! Try to save room for dessert, because they have a ton of options, and the milkshakes were amazing. I love that place ! I have to visit it every time I'm in Paris. My advice is to go there for lunch/dinner. Even though it says breakfast but breakfast may taste too greasy! For example I tried the eggs and fried potatoes. The potatoes where too oily and looked brownish (maybe because of the seasoning) but not the best thing in the whole world. Tried the blueberry pancakes and they tasted sooo good! They are light and just right. The lunch/dinner is pretty delicious. Cheese and fries are soooooooo mouth watering along with the nachos. Eating at this place is liking getting licked by a new puppy on Christmas morning. I don't know if it was the portions, the salt, the fat, the cheesecake or the fact that they had Dr. Pepper (as my friend found out to her delight), but it's impossible to eat here and not walk away with a stupid grin on your face. My friend had a California wrap with turkey (chicken?) and avocado, as well as her beloved Dr. Pepper. Dessert was fabulous too. The portions are spot-on: Big enough to fill you up, but not so big as to be obscene. My only major complaint is the lack of space. It can get pretty crammed and crowded; you'd think they'd expand a little, with all that demand! Let's face it, the almighty BIG thing that one always misses when not travelling to America - which I tend to do on a monthly basis - is their sumptuous, calorie endorsing, emphatically cholesterol rendering Breakfast/Brunch. The fact that you walk out of the joint feeling stacked just like a plate of their delicious, sweet, mouth drooling pancakes, is really rather liberating stuff. With America being classed as my third home, having graced more US diner seats than the Pope has blessed his precious flock on a Sunday morn, I would like to think I could be a walking advertisement for pancakes and porridge. Who wouldn't want to be a billboard for that wholesome, staple culinary action....bit of crumpet anyone?! Being a petite French/English girl, by looks alone, you'd never pick this weakness in my occasional forays into indulgence....food, that is... I can't go as far as to say that this little number is a leader in American petit déjeuner, certainly not in the class of Dottie's in San Francisco or the floods of other Breakfast/Brunch speciality dining sensations that hog the streets all over the US of A, however, I endorse their courage and creativity in thinking of the American tourist's bellies who flock to Paris each year and who still feel a wee bit homesick for it's grass-roots grub - even after just one day! Of course, long gone are the days where 'An American in Paris' was a preferred guest at any establishment where the golden dollar was King. Besides, they always tipped. Something the Brits are not particularly keen about. These days with the euro a constant 1.40 to a buck, the local bars, cafes and establishments would rather Souffrent en silence and have a Brit or a German at their table. Business is still business at the end of the day. Like it's older, but definitely smaller brother, 'BIA numéro 1', this place gets almighty busy and chatty. It must have done to warrant a major overhaul in taking over the shop next door to become double it's size and capacity. I am thinking the owners must have realised their open doors will always be a gravitational pull to Americans, as you will find the occasional one still around, even now. More thrifty than before as few big spending 'Whitey Bulgers' and other notorious Crime Bosses entertain Paris any more ever since the Gendarmes cleaned up their 'fugitive on the run' act. As Britain and Germany are as Americanized in all ways these days, even when there's a shortage of the real McCoy in the winter months - as then, the American Tourists usually stay back in the comfort of their own homes - the tables at BIA always seem to be jam packed. I think it may have something to do with you know what you are going to get routine. Most westerners really don't like TOO many food surprises. And, like the British who simply ADORE queues of any kind - I think they even self flagellate over the event - when in Paris these days, the Yanks do something they absolutely loath to do back home, they are now prepared to act like 'when in Rome' and join a queue. Their stomach cause is way too deserving. This could be seen as an International Coup in 'blending in' all by itself. read more

This place is exactly what you'd expect - everything we had was good and satisfying, and bottomless coffee is a huge perk. We went for brunch, and had the breakfast burrito and CC's Big Mess. Once we ordered, the toast (it's actually just bread and you toast it via a toaster at your table) came out quickly, which was nice since it was cold & we waited outside for awhile. It's not going to be the best food you've ever had, and there's definitely no spice (salsa bore a strong resemblance to Pace) but 1) someone else cooks it, 2) coffee is bottomless, and 3) wait staff is / was all native English speakers. My friends and I each ordered the Best in America burger and we were not disappointed. Great patty with BBQ sauce, bacon, onions, lettuce, tomato, etc. Only reason this place get 4/5 is because it is more expensive than what you will pay for in the US for the same food. Having been in Paris for five days I really needed an American styled breakfast before departing to Italy. We were promptly seated since we beat the lunch crowd, and our waiter (Cameron) was extremely friendly and did his best to ensure a pleasant experience. My wife and I had the eggs, bacon and potatoes, my granddaughter had the French toast - all extremely tasty. And as an earlier post stated the toaster was right next to the table - we just had to turn around, drop in the bread, and voila, warm toast on demand! People started to queue up around lunchtime, but they didn't seem to mind the slight wait. And we never felt rushed to move along...though not rushing customers is typical for Parisian dining. I will make it a point to stop by in any future travels to Paris to not only enjoy the breakfast option, but to also check out lunch/dinner. Visited this restaurant when I was in town for Le Tour de France back in 2011 when Cadel Evans won. After growing tired of espresso and croissants my grandfather and I were desperately searching for something different. We noticed the Subway down the street but they won't serve free refills of drinks even though the soda fountain is self serve? (Idiots!). So next stop is this Breakfast In America joint right down the street and man were we pleased! It had been about 4 weeks since I had a decent hamburger for lunch and we knew then that we'd be back... Ever breakfast and lunch for the rest of our trip (another 6 days). Their breakfasts were fantastic with your traditional pancakes, waffles, and eggs. When you walk in, you are greeted by American working there which throws you off but welcomed. It is a diner setting so that was cool! I ordered the NorCal Burger medium with a coke. The coke came in a glass bottle, the service is good and the food came quick! The burger was juicy but not cooked medium, it didn't stop me from eating it! It was really good! Asked for real maple syrup (additional €1). And of course, a bottomless cup of Joe. After waiting almost 20mins sipping my water, a plate of food landed in front of me. First I noticed the eggs- I had asked for over medium. They were completely dried out. Where's the oozing yolk? Non-existent. Sausages looked extremely processed and from the freezer. The pancakes, which I was hopeful would turn out okay, were the texture of sawboard. I didn't even finish them. The syrup was missing as was my cup of Joe. After flagging the server down, I got the standard syrup (not real maple as I had requested) and finally my coffee. Yuck. Weak. Horrible coffee. (Sorry, I'm a San Francisco coffee snob) I had looked up the yelp reviews during my first week in town and had been looking forward to eating here. So bummed. If you're in Paris and looking for something to remind you of home, SKIP this place and just wait till you get home to get some quality American fare. I have been living in Paris for the past few months. My friend from back home in the states came to visit after her study abroad trip in Spain. We were craving a good ol'american diner breakfast.
