Walked in to celebrate Mother's Day and had a Hawaiian experience. Ohana owned restaurant, great food made to order and music that left us feeling loved!

A bar has so many great aspects to it. You can listen to great music sit and eat drink some good drink people watch even dance. I really enjoyed myself at this bar. Everyone seemed happy there. There were so much going on the band that was playing was wonderful. The singers were great and the guitarist was totally awesome. I would definitely come here again. Love the beach vibe.

Had a doc appt at Scripps near this restaurant. Really cool place with a great beach vibe. Had some Loco Moco and katsu Ahi. Food tasty although egg over cooked on loco moco. Will try again.

Came here for lunch with some friends. We're all from Hawai'i so have been very excited to try it. Love that there is a patio that allows dogs. Great vibe to hang out with friends. The food was just ok all around. The salad and coleslaw was wayyyy over dressed. The kalbi was also super fatty. The fried rice was also just ok. Overall, while the menu reminded me of home, the execution was not quite there. Would come again to hang out and get a few drink, but probably not just solely for food.

Ahi Katsu with sides of Kimchi, Coleslaw and Mac n Cheese

Came here with a big group for happy hour after work. We had a table reserved outdoors, which was nice. You order at the counter and they bring the food over -- service was friendly and quick. I tried the Ahi Katsu with coleslaw, mac and cheese, and kimchi. The ahi katsu was really good -- super crispy and flavorful -- and the coleslaw was great too. The other sides were just okay. There was live music starting up as we were leaving, which gave the place a fun vibe. Overall, it was a chill spot with good service and decent food -- solid for a casual hangout, but not something I'd go out of my way for.

Cute beachy/ Hawaiian place in Encinitas. Went with a few friends and we all enjoyed our food. I had the tofu lunch platter with pineapple slaw and mac salad. The sauteed tofu had a nice spicy kick, the slaw very tasty, and I loved the mac salad. It seemed to have lots of pepper, parmesaun cheese and rotini noodles. My friends had very things, from Kalua pork, blackened ahi, Mahi mayo salad and teriyaki chicken plates. They all enjoyed their meall. We all had the lunch plates, and their portions were pretty big. We were a bit dissapointed as some of the things we wanted to order they were out of at. We were there around 12:30. If in the area again I would try it again. The place was cute we sat outside on the covered patio. They have turf and a small stage for music on the weekends. Oh and close by is the gorgeous Encinitas Community Park where we walked afterward.

Reasons to visit: Great bar Kid friendly fenced in yard Indoor and outdoor seating You get to sits on seats from Captain Keno's! Super fun surf vibe Reason it is 4 stars: I am just not a fan of Hawaiian food. They have added a few more things, like a burger. I would like to see that trend continue. More SoCal beach food.

Lived in Hawaii for over 3 decades. My wife who is born and raised saw this on Yelp and was excited to support this business. Anything Hawai'i she always wants to show up and support. It may be growing pains since they newly opened a month ago. Came in and they said they are out of everything except for three items. Gave my wife the "look" to hele (get going) and she still ordered. Da items: Poke Loco Moco Fried Rice Portions are manini (small) not just mainland small like Costco sample size. If you're from the island you know rice is life and the rice was all hamajang (messed up) too much water to portion of rice. If you cannot do the finger check correctly then stick to the rice cooker and use the measuring cup. Brah, the Loco Moco was sad like I tried but no can. Like you ask for Aloha shoyu but you get Kikomon it's not the same. The patty was dry and the rice was soggy. The good thing about this place is the ambiance. It had the Aloha spirit in the place, just not in the food. The braddah in the front was apologetic about being out of 90 percent of the menu. People were watching a Padres game. The staff looked like they we hustling. My wife wants to give this place another try in a few months. I know my "look" won't work so yeah hopefully it will be good to go when we return. Hoping for the best for this place.

I got a Maui Tai and it was so good!!! Definitely worth the price!

Came her with a big group, the food was great! I should have tried the salad but was craving macaroni salad but ended up getting the ahi tuna katsu!!! It was so crispy and surprisingly very good! I decided to try something instead of getting chicken! It's pretty good and the dranks were strong af!!!

Breakers was suggested as a lunch stop since I was craving Hawaiian food, and we were in the area. It looks like a cute plantation style house with rocking chairs out front, a bar with lots of seating and the outdoor patio. It really has a laid back breezy vibe and I especially liked the outside patio that had a little grassy area and a table separated from the rest. Ambiance 100% and is mostly what contributed to the 4 stars. I didn't realize this was an order at the counter place, and would've helped to have a sign "order here" or something along those lines. The menu is rather small and I decided on the ahi katsu, so ordered that with mac salad and pineapple Cole slaw. First off, the good - the ahi katsu was very good, crispy on the outside and the fish tasted fresh. The pineapple Cole slaw was decent with a nice pineapple flavor, although it was a little runny and got all over all the other items on the plate. Next, the not so good - the mac salad was a little disappointing and was not at all like the local mac salad. It looked like it was rotini pasta and had nothing else in it, just some furikake sprinkled on top. There was only one rice scoop and if you know local plate lunches, you gotta have a lot of rice. Lastly, the price was a little more than I expected but I understand that fish, along with everything, else has gone up in price. Overall, I think people come here for the vibe and drinks, and I hear there is live music too. It is a cool place to hang out and I can imagine it's popular with the surfers.

Mo is super cool

First time checking out this place and it didn't disappoint also, The interior of this spot was unlike anything I've seen. I definitely will be going back. Great Spam Musubi!

Have been waiting for Breakers to open for some time now and it's finally here! With a cool Hawaiian sports bar theme, this spot has some great food & vibes. Went for lunch on a Sunday and got the loco moco. A friend had the kaluah pork plate and got her husband terrayki chicken to go. Food had tons of flavor and is reasonably priced! Cocktails were strong and mighty! Use caution when ordering the Mai tai but mentally it takes you right to the beaches of the island. We got some super yummy margaritas too with some plum dust type of topping- really good. Peep the old captain keno's furniture too! It's such a cool spot. Can't wait to go back

I came in on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the poke plate with half spicy ahi and shoyu ahi. The price was a bit steep at around $25 but when I tell you, I completely demolished it within 10 mins... I got it to go but it smelled so good that I had to eat it in my car still parked right in front LOL. The ahi doesn't have an irony taste like other ahi I've tried from some other places. I think I definitely prefer the shoyu flavor though! I'm definitely coming back and bringing my boyfriend to try the other plates they offer!

Spam musubi was just OK and felt like you could definitely make it at home versus the 4.50 you'd spend. Service OK nothing outstanding because it felt more like a café than a restaurant and it makes sense because there was no inside seating. They have outdoor seating which was nice. Love the decor and the story behind this place. I decided to come here for my birthday and it was a nice treat because I was looking for more Hawaiian spots in San Diego. The mac & cheese was great I wish as a side they added more furike seasoning on the rice. Again, these are just small changes but overall the food is great solid and everything tasted delicious.

This restaurant though, I go all the time for lunch and my wife is surprised. This place is packed and goes through tons of poke and it's so fresh and tasty. I have no qualms or that normal kind of uneasiness I would feel with other places. These guys know what they are doing and the fish is fresh, smells good and tastes amazing. Although the pricing may seem expensive they give you a lot of food for the money. So it's definitely worth it. I normally get a bowl with choices and usually get one salmon / one tuna variety of the day. Always yummy so far. I haven't tried their cooked dishes yet but maybe I'll give those a try as well and update my review if I do. For now the poke is why I come here and it's definitely something that stands out and is exceptionally good.

My favorite stop on my recent trip to the San Diego area…read more Encinitas Fish Shop was recommended by one of my local SD work colleagues. I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

It had been a while since I'd had oysters and it sounded really good. Years ago, when I lived in…read morePacific Beach I used to go to their Thursday $1 oyster night at that location. I moved to North County and a few years later they opened Encinitas fish shop. I have been for the oysters in the past but it had been a long time. I looked it up to make sure they still had oyster night and sure enough they do. The price is now $1.25 but that still feels like a good deal. They had 4 different types to choose from. There was only about 7 people in front of me when I got in line including a family. There was an older couple ordering and it took about 20 minutes for them to complete their transaction. The rest of the line moved ok after they were done, but I probably waited about 40 minutes just to order. I ordered 3 of each kind, a dozen. Then I went to get water. They were out of ice. I sat in the window seating and waited. It took a bit, but it was a nice day so I didn't mind too much. A girl came out calling names but it was very difficult to hear her. I finally heard my name and she dropped off my oysters. I asked for more cocktail sauce and she left to get it. She brought it back but immediately left and never told me which oysters were which. I had to flag down another employee and he told me which oysters were which. In the past, I haven't liked some of the choices, but this time they had a whole different selection and I liked all of them! They were so good and fresh. I don't know why I waited so long to return. I'll definitely be back for more soon!
