Great coffee and delicious food there too! Honestly, the coast is one of the best things about living in Bolinas. While we were in line, the woman in front of us couldn't stop raving about the bran muffins. The woman taking orders went to check on them and came back all apologetic and let us know they weren't going to have any today. The customer was disappointed but happily pivoted to another pastry. I'm pretty sure she had us all wanting a bran muffin by then. My daughter got a latte and I had a cortado. The gal taking our order was a wealth of little coffee facts and explained that cortado means "cut," referring to the espresso being cut with milk, traditionally about half espresso and half milk. We both really enjoyed our coffees. My daughter also got a sticky bun and a salsa verde burrito. She said the sticky bun was outstanding. The burrito was a different story. She saw "salsa verde burrito" on the label and tucked it into her pocket for later. We took the dogs for a walk on Bolinas Beach in the beautiful cloudy, cool weather, then headed home. When she finally opened the burrito, she discovered what she thought might be chorizo and cheese inside. That wasn't what she was expecting or wanted, and she ultimately ate only the rice and beans on the side and threw the rest away. Such a disappointment. We'd definitely come back for the coffee and would love to try one of those bran muffins when they're available. As for the burrito, next time we'll be double-checking exactly what's inside before walking away with it!

Special Tomato Salad: 4.5 stars $18 A very scant name for a delicious combo of rich and creamy buratta, heirloom tomatoes and a pesto dressing. Not really the best time of year to make tomatoes the star, but the combo brought out their best. Wood Grilled Duck: 5+ stars $47 I was a little worried that wood grilling might dry out the duck, but this was probably the best duck I've ever had. The leg was tender with crispy skin and the breast was wonderfully juicy, without being too rare. the fig compote on top was very earthy and not too sweet. I even liked the roasted carrots, and I rarely like cooked carrots. Wood Grilled Sword Fish: 5 stars $41 T ordered this it was roasted perfectly. the accompanying butterbeans with roasted tomatoes and shisito peppers was not at all over powering. The service was absolutely perfect! I wasn't exactly sure who did which job, because all the servers seemed to do everything. No one said that's not my table or not my job. Since we had just dined at a Michelin-starred spot in the city the night before, I was excited but didn't expect too much--even though I've long respected Chef Ron Siegel and always wanted to try his cuisine. And it did not disappoint. In fact, it easily ranks among the top three best-run restaurants I've experienced on the West Coast, possibly rivaling the best spots I've tried in New York as well. Every single dish is meticulously prepped and presented like a work of art, stunningly aesthetic with impeccable, harmonious flavors that showcase a brilliant fusion of Japanese and Californian influences. A special shout-out goes to the egg dish with pistachio crumbs and toast: it had a wonderfully foamy texture, almost like creamy cloud, paired with a rich, runny yolk and toast so good it made me want to dance. You can feel the immense thought behind every single plate. After trying so many restaurants, I was thrilled to find myself genuinely surprised and delighted by every single bite. The service was flawless, the pacing was perfect, and catching a glimpse of the chef himself made the night feel even more special. It is an absolute honor to experience his masterpieces. We loved it so much that we immediately planed a return visit for January and can't wait to go back. I would highly recommend Madcap to anyone (though I'm also a little scared it's going to get even harder to book!). Thank you for a truly wonderful night.

Our first time…read morethere, expectations and anticipation were pretty high -- and somehow the experience still exceeded them. What struck me most was how beautifully balanced everything was. The 11-course tasting menu was creative and visually stunning, but never felt like presentation was taking precedence over flavor. There was tremendous depth and complexity throughout the meal, yet the individual ingredients still came through clearly. Even with so many courses, each one felt distinct and purposeful. The opening snacks immediately set the tone, particularly the local halibut bao -- incredibly soft and delicate, with this wonderful combination of flavor, texture and color. One of my favorite courses of the entire evening was the yellow peach gazpacho with smoked trout roe, pistachio and avocado. It had an almost surprising amount of depth and intensity for something that initially seemed so light. Every bite seemed to reveal another layer of flavor. The bluefin tuna with summer melon, cucumber and ama rosa potatoes was another standout. Beautifully fresh and composed, with that balance between richness, brightness and texture that seemed to characterize the entire menu. And then there was the dry-aged Flannery beef ribeye with eggplant, summer peppers and romesco. Wow! The portion was beautifully restrained, but the beef was so intensely rich, juicy and flavorful that it somehow felt like eating a much larger steak. One of those dishes where a relatively small amount delivers an enormous experience. Dessert continued the theme. The hazelnut cake with blackberry ice cream was fantastic -- rich, nutty and wonderfully balanced by the fruit -- and I loved the progression into the cotija pot de crème with fig, followed by the final canele, chocolate, pate de fruit and caramel. Heavenly. Just as impressive were all of the details surrounding the meal: the beautiful artwork, ceramics, silverware, plating, lighting and pacing of the evening. Service was warm, knowledgeable and attentive without ever feeling overly formal. There was a sense of care behind everything. That may ultimately be what I appreciated most about Madcap. It wasn't simply a collection of excellent dishes. The entire evening felt designed as one coherent experience -- food, wine, presentation, service and atmosphere all working together. An amazing birthday dinner and a genuinely memorable Michelin-starred experience. We left very happy, very full, and already talking about our return visit.

Because we were such a large group, we ordered a couple of vegetable platters and pizzas to share. This also allowed us to try several of the pizzas, which helped mitigate the angst of missing out because all of the varieties sounded delicious. We started off with the vegetable platter, which featured roasted vegetables and squash served over a bed of lentils and seasoned yogurt sauce with toasted pita on the side. I love almost any roasted vegetable, and the yogurt sauce made everything taste elevated; I could have easily finished off the vegetable platter on my own, but I restrained myself to save room for the pizza. My favorite pizza had to be the Calabrian chile and ricotta pizza, which stood out with its sweet, creamy ricotta and the slow burn from the chile oil that lingered long after the last bite. The other pizzas were solid, although they were your more typical pizza combos (cheese, mushroom, meat combo). We spotted buffalo milk gelato on the dessert menu, so we ordered a round of scoops to finish off our lunch. The buffalo milk resulted in a creamier, silkier texture than regular cow's milk gelato (I think?), and it was very tasty!
