We were visiting Hull for a few days. This bakery makes you want to live close by (we live on the West Coast). I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this cafe. The smell of bread being baked. The coffee that was fresh and hot. I dig flavored coffee and woo-hoo they had fresh brewed flavored coffee (from coffee beans vs liquid flavor additives). I went to this places today and bought 4 sandwich and coffee. I gave a little coffee to my daughter. My daughter told me to add some more milk to her coffee. In the kitchen, a man said this is not for this (he thought I just wanted to get a free milk) with his bad attitude.Then, I told him I have coffee in the cup. YUMMYYYYY sandwiches with freshly baked bread. Spend about $10 for a sandwich, mixed greens salad and chips. I got the chicken pesto sandwich which was DELICIOUS. The pesto is a dream. Stopped by for lunch with my mum on the way back from a walk on the beach. Opening the door to this adorable cafe you are hit with the most amazing aromas! After much contemplation on what to order we decided on the grilled tenderloin sandwich and the crab cake sandwich. Both were incredible and served with a delicious mixed greens salad on the side with chips! What a nice touch!! The service was fabulous! The woman who served us was super friendly and she made the best sandwiches! It was also nice to hear they make everything there. We struck up a conversation with the nice owner and he informed us he just made croissants! So We took a home made raspberry key lime croissant for the road.. let me tell you it was killer!! I got the tomato, basil sandwich and subbed roasted portobello mushroom for the mozzarella cheese (I'm dairy free). This sandwich was amazing!! The flavors were so fresh and the staff friendly! There is only one person making sandwiches so it is not super quick but very tasty and if you have a few extra minutes the wait is worth it! Pretty awesome bakery and breakfast/lunch spot. Everything is made in House and while they have some standard muffins and scones, they mix it up a bit on a daily basis. Yesterday's blueberry -bread pudding muffin inspired me to stop and make a yelp post. It was delightful. The thing that keeps me coming back however is the iced coffee as they use frozen coffee for ice cubes which keeps the end of your drink from getting watery. I got 7 different items for my family and I would get them all again. The only non-pretentious shop we found (although it's the off season). The Avocado toast is great, so is the chorizo, egg & cheese. Pastries were still warm from being fresh baked. I don't usually review places unless they are exceptional or terrible. What a great place this is. They have a small seating area with a charming interior. We got an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich on a brioche bun, which was wonderful. Also got a brownie, which was great and a blueberry muffin, which was exquisite. You can tell they bake with a lot of pride. Lunch looked great for adults as well, but not for our young kids. After waiting at the counter without acknowledgment for 10 minutes the owner took an order from someone they knew that had just come in and sat down with a couple who was already eating. I have had lunch here a couple of times in the last 3 months. The curried tuna sandwich I had [both times] was great. The second time I had a 2.5 year old in tow who devoured an excellent cheese and ham croissant. The service was good. My only gripe would be the toilet facilities. I had no problem with 'going around the back', but on my last visit the toilet was not as clean as I feel it should be. I sense it might be shared, but it would behoove the 'cool' dudes at Bread Basket to take the initiative to sort out the problem. I heard about this place and thought to try it out and it did not disappoint. We had 2 iced coffees and shared a curry tuna salad sandwich with a side salad and chips and the best $14 I spent. Bread was freshly baked in the back which makes the sandwich even more excellent. The curry tuna salad was pleasantly delicious. The iced coffee was on point and was excited about how they used coffee ice cubes to keep your coffee cold and not diluted! The staff and owner were extremely nice. My wife and I just found out about this bakery last weekend. We hit Nantasket Beach early and didn't have time to pack a lunch. I took a walk thinking that I would have to go pretty far to find a nice lunch. I ordered the turkey sandwich and a BLT. They were both delicious and filling. The turkey was hand carved and the bacon tasted amazing. Both came with a side of salad and chips. Being a bakery, I believe that they bake their own bread. I came back the next weekend for a chocolate croissant and coffee. I'll "forget" to pack a lunch next time that the weekend surf is on just to try the rest of the menu! read more
