This is my favorite sandwich place in Dumbo. I ordered the porchetta sandwich. It was served on ciabatta bread. The pork belly was flavorful. There was arugula, provolone, and onions on the sandwich. The location was very close to the Brooklyn bridge so it was a great spot to pick up lunch. The price was reasonably priced, it was $12. I would go back to try the other sandwiches like tha short rib. read more

Call ahead. If there's one piece of advice I can give you, let that be it. You will spare yourself a lengthy wait. Trust me. I split the prochetta and the vegetarian with a co-worker. And, I rarely say this, but I thought the veggie was even BETTER than the porchetta. But in all seriousness, both were insanely delicious. This place operates in an area about the size of a large walk in closet but that does not stop staff from making you feel like you are right at home and have been eating there for 40 years. I always feel right at home and am always satisfied with anything i get on the menu. Interesting place. Only in Brooklyn... I'm seeing these reviews about the Porchetta Sandwich and how great it is. I call at 8:15am and ask if they're making it at this time (yes, I eat like a maniac). The gal replies "F*ck yes!" Now, I love F-bombs, and this was the first time I've ever heard one in this context, so I hurried over. Upon arriving, I found the lady alone in her kitchen, and a customer waiting on a sandwich. I asked for the Porchetta, and she realized that I was the caller, and said that the only problem with it is that it won't be ready till 11am. It's possible she didn't hear me say the words "at this time" when I asked about Porchetta on the phone. It's also possible that I'm a victim of bait & switch. Either way, her F*ck yes turned into a big F*ck no! As I was walking away, she told me she'd make the best egg sandwich in NYC. I decided to go with it, support small business (especially a WBE), and cute my curiosity. In a small oven, she was heating up some ham, bacon, & turkey bacon. I went with the ham on Ciabatta bread with eggs fried loosely (she was good enough to ask how I liked the eggs cooked), and I had her add Chipotle mayo and cheddar. I think it's hard to turn such a commodity as an egg sandwich into "the best in NYC", but then again, you can't get any better than a perfect 10, so that puts her right up there with the best. The only word to the wise I'd have for you if you want to try this place is to call in advance, be EXTRA CLEAR about what you want and when you want it, as the owner is very smart, a good salesperson, and the place seems to be run on a "wild west" fashion. I would also advise they give customers a napkin with their adorable little take-out baggie. In all, if I'm in the area again, if probably return. Hopefully she won't spit in my food for this review, cuz I'm actually saying that the place is pretty darn good. I hope she grows with experience and succeeds! read more

When standing outside the doors of 147 Front we thought the place was shut down. So we asked a guy passing by about an other place to go. It turned out the guy was the owner of Bread and Spread and the place was up and running behind them doors. We ordered the signum Proscetta and the turkey sandwich and wow did we like it. A new addition to Dumbo featuring gourmet sandwiches, grilled cheese and local coffee. Everyone seems to be raving about their porchetta sandwich and customers have given this delicacy its own name - "The Sandwich." Seriously, when I took a bite of the crunchy ciabatta bread with the sweet jam sauce, I felt foodgasm for the first time, if not in. a long time. Although the place is small, it is cozy, warm and the staff is friendly (the owner is a cutie too). I am glad I was able to put my mouth on one of the best tasting sandwiches ever! They have basically have one sandwich with several different options (multigrain or ciabatta bread, different cheese, different bacon, avocado, different spreads). Best cure for a hangover. Period. These guys do such a fabulous job and what's more- always with a smile. This is one of the best additions to the neighborhood in a long time. Sandwiches are made to order and well worth the brief wait. I usually come for the egg sandwiches but also enjoy the porchetta and the ban mi next door. Came here for the first time and ordered the breakfast special "big bear sandwich" (eggs, 3 sausage patties, avocado, cheese, maple syrup, arugula) and the porchetta sandwich. Big bear was absolutely delicious. Porchetta was a little too much on the fatty side for me but still tasty. Wow wow wow. Is all I can say. I was in the area and in the mood for breakfast so I pulled out my phone to Yelp of course and this place came up. I walked in and was a little confused as its a little stand tucked in a corner next to stairs that lead up to what seems like a working space. (Not a place for additional seating like I initially thought) The staff was really friendly and helpful with helping me decide what I wanted. I got the most perfect sandwich that consisted of bacon, eggs, tomato chipotle mayo, cheese and avocado on wheat. I had to wait a little longer than I think it takes to make a sandwich but I was satisfied I think its worth it. I came here around 10 which really isn't a peak time, but if I decided to come back earlier or around lunch time I would probably call ahead to avoid the wait time. I love this family restaurant , fresh made bread on the sandwich. In my experience the Porchetta is delicious is only $11.00 . But I really like the breakfast sandwiches it comes with avocado and spinach . I'm a avocado lover so this combination was absolutely delicious. The sandwiches are always warm and taste like butter( maybe). I don't know what the secret ingredient is but I really like Bread and spread. I ordered the Porchetta sandwich and was told it would be a five minute wait. Absolutely fine, I checked out the wonderful stores next door and when I came back my sandwich was hot and waiting for me. Onto the sandwich itself. It was good, quite good. However, I think it was too heavy on the Porchetta (or too light on the veggie ingredients). The meat slightly overwhelmed the other ingredients and because Porchetta is so fat-heavy this made for a greasier sandwich than I was expecting. Still, it was a very good sandwich and I will be coming back to try their others! read more
