Pecan covered cinnamon squares sticky on the eyes. Lemon tarts so astringent you could clean battery terminals. Red velvet cake that Sam write songs while eating. Hattie told Mattie about a thing she saw. Two big eyes and a wooly jaw. Cookies as big as spartan shields. I wish I lived close enough to drop by for breakfast. Folks are friendly on both sides of the counter. Perhaps Deon Sanders said it best, it ain't bragging if you can do it. They are proud of their product here, deservedly so. On the corner, on the square on the mark delicious. Only a few doors down from the old men's haberdashery. At one time they had a rebel shop in the back. First visit today. Picked up a sandwich to go. Once I unwrapped it I could tell this sandwich was not made today. The sourdough was dried out on one side and all the cheese was stuck to the bread. $7 for a day old sandwich was very disappointing. Attention owner: I called today to place a delivery order for a company event. I was put on hold for 5 minutes because the manager told an associate to help other customers since he did not know how to place an order for me. He took my order and then told me someone will contact me tomorrow because no one can put in my order. Immediately, I can hear the manager tell him to tell me to place an order using Chow Now. The manager did not want my business to begin with. Why put me on hold and waste my time if she did not want to take my order? Picture this: an anxiety inducing atmosphere, bitter coffee, subpar service, and the worst macaron you've ever tasted. Go across the street to @Local instead. Let me explain: I don't leave bad reviews but I just left this establishment and I'm astonished. The setup of this store is less than ideal. Seating isn't the best, and there's retail shelves everywhere so you have to skooch past everyone. The sign for coffee is right next to the register so you can't decide while you wait, so you finally get up to the front, have to awkwardly look for what you want, all while the woman at the cash register is annoyed with how long you're taking.....for an issue they created. Now you go to ask a question, and she doesn't know the menu. (Perhaps she's new. Let's give her that.) You order a macaron. She asks you which one. (There's 25 different flavors, and no signs in front of them to tell you which is which.) So you pick a color, gambling because it could totally be a flavor you don't like. But oh well. So you order a coffee, taste it, and it's bitter an has no flavor. Not great considering coffee is their specialty and they grind their own beans I believe. So you leave and sit down to have your bitter coffee and questionable macaron, and it is absolutely the DENSEST thing you've ever had. Macarons are difficult to make, so usually I'm not picky. I'm just enthusiastic to have one in the first place. But it's COLD because the temperature in the fridge is too cold for the macarons... they're not only cold but extremely hard. It's honestly impressive how on the outside they manage to look fine but once you take a bite they're awful. I didn't want to walk the 300 feet to @Local and I paid for it. Lol. read more

Beautiful and interesting place to have an excellent coffee or cappuccino and a sandwich or a slice of cake. Friendly and fast service and nice atmosphere. The only thing I would recommend is, to scale down a bit on the sugar in the baked goods. Some of the stuff is awfully sweet. We were not able to eat the cake we brought home. read more

I kind of feel guilty writing this review because I didn't eat anything (too stuffed from lunch at Amici's) but I have to mention the adorable items on display and the cool vibe going on in this little shop. I picked up a cute dishtowel for my collection but they have mugs, plates, cooking utensils and other cute little things. It's great to see little places like this on the Covington square and the next time I go visit my MIL I'll have to stop in and grab a cup of coffee and a slice of cake (I'm looking at you, carrot). read more

Well, I enjoyed the bready sausage balls I ordered. However, I ordered a cup of coffee, and the young lady asked if I wanted a 12 or 16oz. I ordered the 12, but when I got to the counter where the coffee is served, I saw a wall of ceramic coffee cups. Odd I wasn't offered one of those, as my order was not to-go. Whatever. Maybe those cups are just for decoration? The lady who handed me my coffee did not seem too happy. In fact, she seemed down right miserable. When I said, "thank you", she offered no reply whatsoever. When I sat down to eat my bready sausage ball thingys, which were quite tasty I must admit, I noticed several people who were served their coffee in one of the ceramic mugs. Hmmm, strange system. I am giving only three stars because of the demeanor of the coffee lady. When I said, "thank you", it was a mere courtesy on my part. After all, it was I who was spending my hard earned money at her establishment, and therefore funding her salary. She wasn't doing me the favor. Overall, tasty baked goods, but you really should offer more guidance in terms of customer service to the grumpy people who work for you. Lets make sure everyone knows that this establishment dors NOT offer bread. Additionally, the cream cheese...that comes with the bagel, is actually butter. Very tasty tomato basil soup. I purchased their in-house made whole grain/rustic wheat bread and their sour dough baguette. I took them home to make sandwiches with. Both my son and hubby really liked the wheat bread and soup. I'll try some other items and return with an update and pics! read more

Fun place to stop and people watch however the service is slow at best and the quality of the baked goods have taken a nosedive. This is so sad because when they were located at the small storefront it couldn't be beat. The scones were big and delicious now they are small, dry, crumbly (they overworked the dough) and hard as a rock. I've thrown more away than I've enjoyed since the move to the larger store. The coffee is very bitter like it had been sitting on the warmer for hours. And talk about slow service! The coffee bar is staffed with people working at snail pace! They are more occupied with chatting between themselves than pouring coffee! I'm sorry but if there are only 5 people tops in the store and I order a coffee, just coffee, it should not take 3 people at the coffee stand 10+ minutes to pour a cup of plain coffee. This place went from several stops a week to once every 3-5 months. If it weren't for teenagers and tourists I doubt it would still be in business now. Its very good with minor issues which do seem to be improving! Teas are excellent and served in a very nice way. My friends and I found this gem while exploring downtown Covington during a girls' trip. And let me tell you, this place is adorable. It has plenty of space and seating, and a wide selection of coffee and bakery items. The desserts, simply put, were so amazingly wonderful. They give you the biggest slab of red velvet cake that takes you literally two days to finish it. My sister tried the coffee, and my friend picked up some crackers for a cheese plate and all of the above were just as fabulous. I honestly don't know why this restaurant is rated high. High cost and food that doesn't even warrant one star. I should have taken a picture, I had to open the sandwich to be sure of what was on the sandwich; that should never happen! You order at one counter and pick up food and drinks at another counter. This arrangement is not handicapped friendly. Your name is yelled out into the restaurant, if you don't immediately respond it is yelled even louder! No attempt made to deliver ordered items to a handicapped person. It's very hard to juggle food, a drink and a cane! Maybe your staff, while polite, needs a course in etiquette for aged and handicapped individuals! Be helpful-we don't want to be in this situation and don't always like to ask. We don't want your attitude, just kind considerate help. What if you were a handicapped person, how would you want to be treated? Think of helping other like your family...
