I've seen BRD all over Instagram from foodie insta accounts and it has been on my list to visit for awhile. I finally made it there on a Sunday afternoon. It was my first time at R House, also. It was nice that they have some complimentary parking available. BRD was definitely one of the more crowded stalls. My friend and I split the Bmore BRD and an order of fries (we were on a foodie adventure so didn't want to fill up too much!) The Bmore BRD is their fried chicken, dill pickle, old bay, and BRD sauce. It sounds so simple but is SO delicious. The portion of chicken on the sandwich is very generous. We came to this BRD location on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch, after scoping out the various options in R. House. They were quite busy, so we had to wait a bit to place our order and receive the food. It was a little pricier than expected - $13.99 for the two tender BRDBox + $3.99 for an extra tender. The toasted garlic bread was just a buttered sandwich bun. The chicken delivered though. The tenders were soo thick and juicy on the inside, and perfectly crisp on the outside. We got delivery downtown from BRD from the Downtown location. A few of us were excited to order in for an overnight shift. Really excited to try their chicken sandwiches since I've hear they might rival Ekiben. BRD did not dissapoint. Two of us got the Bmore Bird which is apparently the "classic" one - it has dill pickles, Old bay and special BRD sauce (mayo based sauced). Boy these were good! Really hit the spot- juicy and a classic chicken burger that did not fall apart (too much) as we devoured them. I ordered the Bombay Bird (spiced carrott slaw, cilantro, and curry) which was only available to order from the downtown location and not R House/Hamden. But oh boy- was it flavourful!! Sweet and spicy and textured and so exotic and delicious. I practically inhaled it within five minutes of starting. I will say the spice and curry mix did not perfectly agree with my stomach- so caution. But flavor-wise it was fantastic. We also got a few order of fries- they are on the pricy side but they were perfectly crisp and deliciously seasoned. I was kind of disappointed with the chicken sandwich on a recent visit. It was made using chicken thighs pieces and the breading slid off as it was eaten. What a sandwich! Two large heavily yet deliciously battered fried chicken breasts on a potato roll. Every topping option looked awesome. I ordered the Hen, and it was so tasty. The sauce and slaw mix was really flavorful. The chicken portion is so big that you can tear pieces off and eat them like chicken tenders and still have a giant sandwich. It was $9 for just the sandwich, but it was a big portion. My fiancé got the buffalo chicken. She really enjoyed it. I tasted hers and liked mine better. Just too much crunch for me. Not saying they were fried hard because they weren't. I just prefer a less crunch as possible. I would have probably rated them higher if they were hotter (in temperature, not spice). So I have passed by this place a millions times and finally gave it a go. So for this meal I got the chicken tender box with an extra tender and fries along with two dipping sauces. The box comes as expected. I was surprised at the size of the tenders it's basically more than half a chicken Brest so two tenders is basically 4 at any regular take out place. It took longer than I expected to prepare my food because the make it to order..literally fry and then hand toss the wings to they are piping hot when they get to you. I got the Bmore Brd combo ($12. Individually $9 for the sandwich and $4 for the fries). The Bmore BRD has two fried chicken thighs topped with dill pickles, BRD sauce (tastes like version of a spicy mayo), and of course Old Bay. These were served on a warm, squishy potato bun. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. The pickles provided a nice contrast to the savory flavor from the chicken and sauce. The fries were crisp and had great flavor. These were also topped with Old Bay. You have the option of getting BRD sauce with these for an extra $0.50. Great filling first experience at R House and BRD. Love love loved BRD! I went to R House for Brunch on a Saturday. Now, just be forewarned that Brunch time at R House is definitely a mad house. Super packed and a lot going on. I got their brunch sandwich, which was their signature chicken sandwich served with a maple butter. I also got a side of fries. First, the side of fries can feed two people. You literally get a serving bowl portion of fries. I liked that the fries weren't super heavy or large, so it didn't fill me all the way up so I could still enjoy the sandwich. The chicken sandwich had a good amount of chicken. They weigh out how much goes on each sandwich before putting it together. The maple butter was THE SHXT. It was the perfect amount to wet the sandwich but not make it soggy. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sweet + salty combo is a match made in heaven for a true Southerner like myself. I am definitely going to be frequenting BRD more often and can't wait to try them for lunch or dinner.
