I was told that if I did not get him on medication that he could not stay. After about a month, my family member began sleeping all day, staying in their room, missing meals and quit bathing. For 3 weeks the director and nurse insisted that my loved one was "just old" "that's just what they do". I discovered that they had doubled my loved one's medication WITHOUT my knowledge and WITHOUT a doctor's order. I moved my family member as quickly as possible. The director stayed shut up in her office the day we moved. When I insisted on speaking to her, her only comment was that "she hadn't done anything to my loved one" and that I owed another months rent because I hadn't given 30 days notice. I would not recommend putting any family member here who cannot tell you what is going on. Had I not been as involved, I do not doubt that my family member would have deteriorated much faster than normal. My loved one lost muscle mass and weight which has not been regained. My loved one is currently in another facility and is not on ANY medication. If your loved one exhibits any symptoms associated with dementia, they are going to insist that you put them on psychotropic medication to "manage" them. My loved one had normal issues related to dementia, confusion, incontinence, needing redirection, etc. Rather than employing methods to help my loved one, they turned my loved one into a lethargic blob who slept all the time. Currently, my loved one is active, involved, conversational, and fully ambulatory affording him the ability to enjoy life. If you are considering placing someone here, I recommend that you check with Texas Health and Human Services regarding complaints, read reviews at seniorly.com and look on Indeed.com to read reviews posted by staff.

In my…read moreinteractions with them, I can say with confidence that they have been patient, reliable, timely, up-to-date, wise, and compassionate. Lori Griggs, co-owner, and Sandra, Client Services Manager met with my parents and disabled brother and me, and asked us how they can best help. Many needs were identified, some of which we had not thought of ourselves. What I especially like about Senior Helpers of Bryan College Station: 1. Every person from Senior Helpers has been top-notch, whether it be Lori and Ray Griggs, co-owners, or Sandra, Client Services Manager, or Ashley, Office Manager or Latasha, Care Team Manager. I've spoken with each one and they have all been incredibly helpful. 2. It is clear that they have joy in providing help to seniors. 3. They carefully find a care-giver who matches the personality, needs, and schedule of the client. 4. Each visit is a minimum of 2 hours (not 4 as with other such services) 5. Clients are not bound to a contract. They do sign a contract to allow Senior Helpers to assist them, but there is no contractual requirement for services. 6. They can schedule a care-giver for any amount of time during the day, or even around the clock. 7. They are reachable 24 / 7. Again, if you want to be sure to hire people with integrity, skill, and good care, choose Senior Helpers of Bryan/College Station! Karen S.

I want to thank Cypress Assisted Living for taking such good care of my father…read more I brought my father to Cypress Assisted Living in early December 2025. Due to a fall, he had deteriorated over the previous six months. He could no longer walk, he lost 40lbs, and he suffered from delirium. When he arrived, we had to put him on hospice care. Within a few days of being in Cypress Assisted Living, he began to improve. It's now been four months since he arrived. He's gained back 20lbs. He hasn't had any delirium since his first few days there and he's "graduated" from hospice. He begins physical therapy this week to get him walking again. So how did this happen? It's very simple. Nellie (owner) has put together a staff that truly cares about the residents. They get dad up in the morning, get him breakfast and let him settle in his day. They have some activities, along with two big screen TVs in the common area. There are electric reclining chairs to accommodate every resident. The pictures you see on their website are 100% accurate. I visit at least once a week and EVERY time I visit him the place looks as beautiful as it does online. It's incredibly clean and has no bad odors. If you don't like what's for breakfast, they'll work with you to get something else. They are there to make the residents comfortable and happy. The owner (Nellie) is a nurse who understands how to treat seniors. Her people work 12-hour shifts. The resident only has to deal with one shift while they're awake, so it limits confusion for them. She keeps the place spotless. I was there and saw her moving the recliners to check that they were swept and mopped underneath. I'm not exaggerating when I say Cypress Assisted Living saved my father's life. During the first few weeks he would ask me, "Where do I go after I leave here?" Now he says he loves it here and doesn't want to leave. I can't wait to get him walking again, as it will make him so happy. Thank you to Nellie and her team for all they've done for our family.

I recently had a family needing to find a place for their mother, they trusted my suggestion to move her to Cypress Assisted Living and I've since received several messages from the family sharing how happy their mother is in her new home! "Chanel Mother seems to really like her new home! Thank you! And she really likes her nurse Sandy!" We absolutely recommended CAL for those looking for a more intimate assisted living community for their loved ones.

We hired Visiting Angels to…read moretake care of my 87-year old father yesterday and the caregiver did the following: - arrived 10 mins late - proceeds to ask my mom if she could step out to run an errand and go to HEB to pay a bill - wore her mask on her chin (My father has not yet been vaccinated as he was just released from a rehabilitation hospital a few days ago. My mom had to ask her to wear her mask properly.) - never introduced herself to my father or interacted with him (she sat in the dining room while my father sat in the living room) - she watched shows on her phone literally the entire time she was at my parents' house - went to the restroom for 15 minutes at a time - folded 1 article of clothing when she was asked to assist with tidying up the living room - after reluctantly washing a few dishes, my mom gave her a plate after my dad was done eating breakfast and the caregiver asked, "Am I really supposed to wash this plate as well?" - Used the restroom for over 15 minutes at a time - FELL ASLEEP -- we have photo evidence of this. She laid her head down on the dining room table while her phone was propped playing her shows and she dozed off for over 20 mins. We contacted Visiting Angels immediately to complain about this caregiver, and showed Marisol Mauricio (Client Care Coordinator) the photo of their caregiver. She proceeded to almost make an excuse for the caregiver by saying, "Well, it appears as though she's reading something" -- though it was clear that the caregiver's eyes were closed and she was sleeping. Regardless, a caregiver should not be on their personal cell phone watching shows when she is supposed to be working and tending to an elderly person. We sent the caregiver home because instead of actually assisting, she only caused more headaches. And thank God my mother was home to witness all of this because she was originally going to work today. Otherwise, we probably would have never known the extent of this caregiver's neglect and incompetence. Our experience was incredibly disheartening, as we had high hopes after everything that was initially promised to us during our initial meeting with Claudia Massie (Director of Patient Care). My mom requested to speak to Claudia today after this unfortunate incident and never heard back from her. This service was supposed to assist, not create additional issues than we're already experiencing with my father's declining health. While this one caregiver may not represent all the caregivers in the entire company, it is rather difficult to believe otherwise when its directors have made zero effort to fix/make up for the actions of one of their unfit caregivers. The fact that this company is called "Visiting Angels" is ironic. They are anything but angels. Do yourself a favor and do not hire them. Hiring this company would create a huge risk as well as an unsafe situation for your loved one.
