History

Established in 2018.

Roots Psychotherapy began in 2018 as part of Oakwood Counseling in Bryan, TX, growing out of a need for honest, inclusive, depth-oriented therapy in the Brazos Valley. As our identity and approach became more distinct—relational, trauma-informed, and rooted in authenticity—we rebranded as Roots Psychotherapy to reflect the work we were already doing. Since then, we’ve grown into a thriving group practice in College Station with 15+ clinicians offering therapy for individuals, couples, families, teens, and kids. Our work is guided by core values: honesty and kindness, continued growth, curiosity about difference, and helping clients become sturdier and more fully themselves. We believe therapy should be a space where you can bring the mess and still be met with warmth, clarity, and real support. Whether you’re here for anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, or relationship struggles, we’ll meet you where you are—and walk with you toward something more grounded.

I had moved to BCS after spending the first years of my career in a robust learning community in a larger city, and Roots came from a desire to build a sustainable practice that prioritizes the growth and well-being of its clinicians.
