Ready to broaden your cooking style? Bravo Maine has a very nice facility with suitably sized classes, excellent instructors, and lots of different types of ethnic recipes and types of cooking classes. I attended the Authentic Thai class which included shrimp spring rolls, red curry stew, and a Tom Kha Gai chicken soup. Each group was provided a cooking table separate from the eating table. Everyone was given instructions for making the spring rolls, including an excellent instruction on how to properly use a knife for the type of small chopping we were doing. The ingredients were all fresh and suitable for the dish. It was fun to make these.
Afterwards the group received more instructions on chopping for the remaining recipes, prepared the ingredients, and then we went in the kitchen and watched the chef prepare the meal with good detailed instructions and time for questions.
When the preparation was done the group retired to the eating tables to eat our spring rolls and then the soup and curry were served.
Added Benefit: This is a BYOB event!!! So most groups had drinks or wine to accompany the meal. Water was provided to those that had none, and Rosemont is right across the street.
The food was delicious. Everything was well coordinated.
Recommendations: There is a lot of standing, so where comfortable shoes. Our class ran 30 minutes over the planned 6:00-8:00, and I suspect that happens a lot so plan for it. Don't forget the drinks!
Definitely worth the time and money. Have fun. read more
