I love how organized she was with everything, and how easy that made it on my end--the cooking/baking instructions were simple and spot on, and the labels were perfect for peeling off to put on the table in front of the served food. The food was delectable all the way around! Such a wonderful variety, and what a treat to have such scrumptious food each day. I especially appreciated that Tara used homemade and local items, and that she took such care with the presentation. One thing I hadn't anticipated was how Tara's presence would enrich the retreat! She brought a lively and positive energy into the room every time she arrived; a breath of fresh air each time. It was so easy to have here there, and such a treat for me to not have to think one bit about what she were up to--I trusted her to do whatever she needed to do to get food on our table, and that was pure joy for me. Biggest hits: orrechiette with pumpkin ragout and portobellos; flatbread trio; gingerbread dessert; roasted pear and brie crostini; bisque with grilled heirloom, mozzarella and basil sandwiches; quiche and frittata; burritos; roasted Brussels sprouts. Yum, yum, yum! My retreat participants were thrilled. Here's some of what they said: - Loved the food! The meals were tasty, healthy, and displayed with artistic professionalism. - The food was amazing! Tara the chef is awesome and it was wonderful to come away for a time and have your meals taken care of. Not only was the food fabulous, but we were so incredibly impressed with the team - from the owner Jennifer to her staff onsite the day of.....they blew us away. They really thought of everything and the cocktail hour, dinner and bar service were just perfect. At one point during the cocktail hour, one of the servers came up to ask me what I wanted to sample and brought me a plate of appetizers - knowing how hard it is for the bride and groom to actually eat on their own wedding day. The BAD Elephant…read more Blue Elephant is AMATURE catering at best. In a few words: disorganized and dysfunctional management, poor communication, tasteless and bland food. This placed doesn't even deserve one star. Thankfully, boxed pizza saved the day. We hired them for our wedding a few years back to serve apps and a sit down dinner. As appetizers were passed, we noticed there were NO bacon wrapped scallops. Instead, Blue Elephant REPLACED this with some fig-thing! Apparently they were unable or simply forgot to get the scallops?? This last minute substitutions was made WITHOUT our knowledge and without ANY price adjustment/refund towards the bill, which of course they make you prepay in full. No satisfaction guarantee with this company. The plated dinner was such a disaster! The steak was so disgusting and poorly cooked, no one ate it and the brussel sprouts that accompanied it were completely inedible. How do you mess up brussel sprouts?! It was really upsetting to see all the thousands of dollars worth of food, be dumped into the trash. Some of our guests actually LEFT our wedding and brought back PIZZA!! So this is what you get when you spend thousands and hire people who claim to have 27 years of catering experience?? How embarrassing. Not to mention, you can expect a ridiculous delay in emails, expect to make numerous calls to get a hold of either Ruben or Fausto and prepare yourself for lots of confusion and unexpected menu changes without being notified or reimbursed. The meat was carved and pulled, placed in a buffet tray so there was no weird feelings about having to pull the meat yourself. A homemade bourbon bbq sauce added the perfect touch when drizzled on top.Not only was the meat crazy fresh and delicious, the sides were too!
