Located in North Downtown as an upscale food hall when compared to some of the other dining options. Parking is going to be subpar if you don't have downtown parking already. There is a lot of turnover in the few available spaces inside; the well liked pizza spot (BOH) is gone, Blind Goat (OG) is out, and there are changes once every few months. There are some hitters but it seems like rent is high and it's tough to stay busy being so far north of most offices. Interior seating is contemporary and pretty modern. read more

One can enjoy a progressive dinner at this hall. Start at one stall and end at another. My only complaint is that there is not too many dessert options. One of the stalls had dessert but was sold out by the time we were ready to eat dessert. Margaux Oyster Bar This is a must visit! Happy Hour M-F, 4pm-7pm. We caught the tail end of Happy Hour and we're able to order: Dozen Gulf Oysters 1/2 Dozen East Coast Oysters - my favorite! 6 grilled oysters, New Orleans style- a close second Escargot - delicious! in a class if it's own. I can't compare to the oysters. For drinks, we ordered a bubbly and a red from the bar around the corner. Soho Garden Bar There's an indoor and outdoor option. We sat a while at the indoor bar whim we waited for seats to open up at the sushi stall. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a few reds, more bubbly and a carajillo. Good times at this spot! Kokoro There is no wait list but the proprietor saved two spots for us as soon as they opened up. This was our main course. We ordered: Sashimi - melt in your mouth! Lots of options even on a Saturday to choose from. Two bars, and restaurants serving Asian, Italian, Oysters, and Latin food. We chose the Blind Goat. My fried chicken bao was excellent. My friend had the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap. Beef was cold and the egg on top was too undercooked, but they did cook the egg more for him. Weird when we sat down though . The entire seating at the counter was covered in reserved signs. I asked if they were all actually reserved and they took a couple of the signs down so we could sit. The unfortunate part of where they were located were two giant fans, causing you to eat in hurricane winds. Would definitely if in the area go back for more bao. read more

January 29, 2021 Drove in from Galveston to go to the Seismique museum later and wanted to try this place out mostly to go to the Secret Garden (but, on Friday's it doesn't open until 4 and we're here at 2...sigh) Nestled at the bottom of the Aris Market Square apartments (if you find that...you're there) because there isn't any signage that's noticeable when in traffic. There are several eateries...all looked worthy of trying...we ate at the Blind Goat (Vietnamese) which was fabulous. Park in the public outside parking lot $10 for 2 hours right across the street from apartments on Travis. Secret Garden can be gotten to from inside the hall (it's around the corner from Cherry Wood eatery --ask someone they'll point you in the right direction OR if your outside...go to Main Street (Travis and Main intersect) and at that entrance to the Aris apartments you can get in and you're right in the garden. It's very cute, more for girls to go to (yes, I said it!) there's flowers, greenery and foo foo drinks! It's literally a small greenhouse made into a bar with outside seating. Eat. Drink. This place is great if you're going to be in downtown Houston for the evening. It's a food court that has cuisine that you can't get most places. Thai, Italian, seafood, and more, there's something for everyone. The inside is interesting as it feels lively but relaxed. I can't really say anything about the service since there's multiple restaurants in this place all with their own cuisine and experience. This is a great place to have a few drinks, some food and hang out with friends or even a date. Downtown Houston's Bravery Chef Hall is like an upscale food court with several pop-up style restaurants inside. We have something similar back home in California SF-Bay Area in the Public Market at Emeryville. Bravery Chef Hall is different in that they are "Chef Driven" and you're likely to find gourmet items prepared from locally-sourced ingredients ran by a Celebrity Chef. For the quality and uniqueness of items, I found the prices very reasonable and the place is great for a casual, quick dinner or lunch. I dined solo at two different restaurants on the same day! The concept is simple, order and pay and they'll text you when the food is ready. Everyone uses the same-style dinnerware so sit at the restaurant counter or in the common seating area. I found the current restaurants intriguing: *Blind Goat: Ran by Masterchef Season 3 winner Christine Ha - Vietnamese comfort food. I still cannot believe she's blind and yet won! I have her book and had the G.O.A.T. curry (separate Yelp review coming). *Cherry Block: Not a dessert place, but a place to get grilled steaks and meats. If I was in the area and hungry, I'd stop by again but otherwise....eh. I went on Sunday because parking is free downtown and easier to find. Didn't like having all the homeless people to walk around and the smell of pee on streets, on the walk to the hall. The hall is small, compared to food halls I've been in, in other cities. Nothing special about it. I'd recommend this hall if your in the area and need to find a bite. The food options are ok. I'm kind of obsessed with BCH at the moment. This chef-driven food court/food hall/chef hall - whatever you want to call it - is an elevated concept in the world of food halls... at least the ones I've experienced in Houston and around the US. The curated food and beverage program features five restaurants at the moment, a wine bar, a cocktail bar, and "secret garden" patio bar - don't miss it! A lot of notable chefs stand behind these restaurant concepts - high quality eats and drinks. The design is another element that had me returning at least three times in the past two weeks. It's modern, there's a lot of natural light, there are options to sit at various eateries or grab a communal table. And again, the back patio where Secret Garden Coffee + Cocktails is housed adds a romantic element to the food hall experience; it's a great spot to grab an aperitif (or digestif in my case). So far, The Blind Goat has been my go-to spot for a particular vegetarian- and vegan-friendly dish: Peanut Tofu. Location / Setting This place is right next to Frank's Backyard and a skip away from downtown Main Street. I should note this place has just opened and is still working out kinks. The seating is typical to what you find in a food court. That leads us to the setup - It's composed of multiple venues similar to Conservatory, Finn Halll, Understory food courts however these spots are a bit more upscale in terms of food. These are some up-and-coming Chefs who aren't afraid to do innovative and bold dishes. Food In my first visit I stuck to one venue - Cherry Block. I ordered the CB Burger which comes with Wagyu Fries, shrimp and cracklins, smoked fish dip. The burger was fantastic, the fries are fried in Wagyu fat which make them holy sh&@ to die for, the smoke fish dip was a fantastic starter, and the shrimp and cracklins were great too. My complaint is the order literally had only two shrimp which seems a bit absurd. Overall all of the food was absolutely fantastic and I'm looking forward to trying the other venues within the hall. These chefs know how to step it up. Pricing I had a few drinks at the bar and then food at Cherry Block. Overall it's about what one would expect for a place catering to those willing to try new dishes. Some dishes appear to be great value while others are mediocre or undervalued to the food you get. Overall This place is definitely going to stick around and folks who are visiting the other food courts are clearly missing out to one of the up and comers of the Houston region. I'm late to the review party for Bravery Chef Hall, and could have sworn I already shared my thoughts on them, but this can work as a post pandemic review. Everything is open and bustling again at BH! We came by for a late bite while revisiting some favorite bars in Market Square area with an out of town guest, and sampled dishes from almost every stall. For the uninitiated, Bravery is a chef driven food hall, that has half a dozen restaurants nestled in one space, along with a wine bar, and a cocktail bar. You can grab a sushi roll, half a dozen oysters on the half shell, some excellent vietnamese food, a tex-mex dish, and a cocktail all at the same place! There's something for everyone, and it's such a fun experience to graze different stalls, picking and choosing what sounds good for the moment. Such a cool and modern concept! This place was filled with millennials. You can sit at the counter of each restaurant or find a table in the middle. We sat at a long table in the middle. The table is aesthetically pleasing but the bench part is so difficult to get in and out. The Secret Garden was a nice sitting area and a cute place for pics. I like having the option to try foods from different restaurants. I had a slice of Pepperoni from B.O.H. The ingredients tasted high quality but the bread was a bit too chewy for my taste. I had the Sake Maki and a piece of Salmon Nigiri from Kokoro. The salmon maki was very fresh and the yuzu added an interesting twist. Nothing really special about the nigiri. We brought in a birthday cake and the employees brought us plates and utensils without us even having to ask. Came here with a friend last weekend around lunchtime on a Saturday. We both were happy with our food but felt that the food hall as a whole was a little disappointing. Food was good but I would not return. The food: I got the Vietnamese steak and eggs and my friend got the tofu bibimbap. The steak and eggs were great! Flavorful and saucy, and I loved the variety of stuff that was in it (onions, steak, eggs, pate, onions, bread). I tried my friends tofu bibimbap as well. Tofu was tasty and very crisp, but overall, it was a lot of lettuce and rice for a $14 dish. On the food hall: I loved how you get texted once your order is ready and I loved the outdoor seating. I think my primary complaint was just that food options were a bit limited and not particularly interesting. I think from my past experiences at food halls I expected more interesting menu items, while here, I saw the mostly common dishes I'd easily be able to find outside the food hall format but pricier. read more

This food hall was quite good! We came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. There was some street parking nearby but broken meters made it quite difficult so we ended up paying $12 for the parking garage across the street. Upon first impression, the selection of vendors seemed less than I thought there would be. I didn't see a lot of the places previously referenced in reviews/on the photos here, although I supposed that is to be expected in a place like a food hall. My friend and I ended up ordering from The Blind Goat - I got the fried tofu bibimbap and she got the steak and eggs (I forget the name and can't find the menu). I liked that they would text you when the food was ready, so we headed out to the patio to wait, since the weather was quite nice. I tasted the steak in the steak and eggs and it was really nice! Quite flavorful and not a chewy, flavorless hunk of meat that I've sadly experienced far too often at restaurants. It came with a sizable hunk of bread that was perfect for mopping up the juices. My fried tofu bibimbap was pretty nice, but I guess I was a little disappointed by the ratio of ingredients. It was pretty much half rice, maybe ~6 pieces of fried tofu, 1 egg, some lettuce, a tiny scoop of kimchi and pickled carrots/cucumbers, and a small cup of gochujang. For $14, I really felt like they could have included more - plus, the lettuce was a little strange in bibimbap. Nonetheless, the taste was quite good - I enjoyed the fried tofu. Overall, food was pretty good, but I wouldn't specifically return at this pric epoint unless I was with a group of people who all wanted different options. read more

I arrived at Bravery Chef Hall during lunchtime looking forward to try food by the famous Christine Ha at The Blind Goat. Unfortunately, all the items I wanted (smoking duck salad and duck soup) are only available during dinner. I blindly picked the beef bulgogi bibimbap on the menu of their sister Korean concept test kitchen The Sighted Pig. To my delight, the dish is a beautiful fusion of Korean and Vietnamese cuisine. The dish includes pickled cucumber instead of the fresh vegetables commonly found in traditional bibimbap which added extra flavor. There's a perfect mixture of texture with the beef is perfectly tender and crispy rice making the dish fun to enjoy. The spice level is mild to medium depends on how much gojuchang sauce you choose to add, but it in no way overwhelm the other awesome flavors of the dish! read more

I've had many of the options here and all of it has been high quality. There hasn't been any weak link. The price point is on the higher side given it's essentially a food court, but it's a pretty upscale hall. I've really only seen an adult crowd here, no teenagers. I really like the decor of the place, modern, chic, artsy, with large plants and soft yellow overhead lighting. And the music is upbeat but not too loud, so you can actually enjoy your conversations. It's a great place to go for a low-key date or with a group of friends. There's seating at each individual restaurant and general seating as well. read more

This is currently the top food hall in Houston according to Yelp and I would have to agree. It's not underground or anything, but it does have several great food stalls and bar areas. There are 3 in fact, at the entrance, in the middle of the hall, and in the back garden that can't be missed. Vendors here are both first time stalls and existing restaurants throughout Houston. You have several cuisines to choose from, although Asian cuisine or Asian owned ones seem to account for a majority of the vendors. The Blind Goat is a must try, along with the sushi spot and Cherry Block. Restrooms are sort of hidden when they have additional vendors set up with tables everywhere, but they are in the center part of the hall. As a word of advice, if you order from a vendor, sit at their specific bar area and you'll receive better service and you won't have to get up to get your own water (from bar area in middle of the hall). read more

We were downtown this evening and found Bravery Chef Hall on Yelp - one of the restaurants had a really good rating so we went. We did not realize it was a food court on steroids with fancier fare. Our 14 year old did not see anything in the several food options, so grabbed a couple slices from Franks next door. Meanwhile my wife and I ordered two full meals from two of the eateries and we all sat down in the food court area to eat. Then some guy shows up at our table and kicks my 14 year old son out for eating pizza not bought in the food court. At first we thought he was joking as we have never experienced this before. He was not. So my son had to go out on the sidewalk to finish one slice of pizza with no bench or table. Now I get that there may be rules there. But we had purchased two full meals from their food court establishments and my son was just eating a slice of pizza from next door because he did not find anything he liked there. Was it really called for to pizza-shame my 14 year old son and make him eat a slice of pizza alone on the sidewalk? Could he not have simply let us know the rule and caution us for future visits? As this transpired, an employee from one of the establishments came to our table and asked what happened. She was stunned by the story, and felt so bad she brought us a dessert at no charge. She also shared that this is not the first time Mr. Popular exposed his vile personality. Apparently he has an established track record yet is still employed at Bravery Wine Bar. Now one of these people understands the importance of the customer, and one should probably exit the service industry immediately and find a more appropriate loner job someplace where his total lack of empathy and interpersonal skills won't damage the business his bosses worked so hard to establish before he was regrettably hired. You can meet Mr. Customers Annoy Me in the photos attached. I would strongly suggest management here look into this persons track record. His behavior for sure will prevent us from returning to Bravery Chef Hall again. And our word-of-mouth advertising certainly won't be favorable. This is not how you run and grow a business. Because the modern day food hall is such a great concept. --- --- --- I've seen a few different food halls at this point that come in various shapes and sizes, but Bravery Chef was a bit unique. The first thing that jumps out is its beauty. The designers of Bravery Chef did a phenomenal job maximizing how sleek the interior is, despite the casual nature of communal, scattered seating. And the outdoor bar that's encompassed inside of glass is probably the pinnacle of said beauty. We patronized BOH for our meal, Kokoro for drinks and Cherry Block for dessert. I wrote a separate review for BOH, which we enjoyed very much. At Kokoro, I ordered a sugarcane drink, which sounded interesting. It was fine, but I don't know that I'd order it again. However, if I were to return to Bravery Chef, I'd love to try one of the entrees here. And at Cherry Block, we actually ordered these huge, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with ice cream on top. We were craving a sweet finish after our meal and that, um, definitely hit the spot! We have a concept here in Tampa called Hall on Franklin, which is similar, except a server brings you menus and allows you to order from any vendor while remaining seated. I don't have a strong preference to either style - I just know that I'm down with this food hall think and hope we continue to see more of them across the country! read more

I dined in here for lunch yesterday (late afternoon on a Saturday) with a friend and really enjoyed my experience. Food: I ordered from The Blind Goat and ate at their bar. The service was straightforward and overall quick. I ordered the lamb curry and the sticky wings. The Lamb Curry was just okay. It tasted bland and  the portion was standard. The taste didn't match the cost at all ($17). I guess for the appearance and location in this food hall, I really thought the food was going to be amazing. The sticky wings were pretty good, a few of my wings weren't evenly coated but other than that they were good. Drink: from the Wine Bar (directly across the Blind Goat), the bartender/owner was very friendly and welcoming. I order a glass of Moscato D'asti for myself (delicious, I need to know the brand) and a glass of blood orange mimosa for my friend. Atmosphere: I really love that this food hall has so many seating options including outside directly across from the "Houston is Inspired" mural. The interior is nice and modern and a place I want to bring friends to for a hang-out.
