Such a great restaurant! Reservations are highly recommended as this is not a large space but it's great space with places at the bar and tables thoughtfully positioned. Service is terrific but the drinks and food are EXCELLENT! One of my fave places to get a Pisco Sour and terrific dishes for appetizers thru mains. I will ALWAYS get their chicken as the seasoning and roasting isn't something I can replicate at home. Food here is excellent. On par with their sister restaurant, Jalea in Saint Charles. Small space and resos recommended. Portions here are shareable. Ceviche mixto was a great start. Loved the different textures of seafood-fish, shrimp and octopus. Rotisserie chicken here was also really good and the green sauce was a perfect addition. Pork belly fried rice was loaded with meat and was also nice. Potatoes were cooked perfectly and that mustard was awesome! Only critique is that entrees come out too fast after apps. My entree came out when I was 3/4 through my app and I observed the same with other diners. Overall, a must visit on the Loop. We have little to no authentic Peruvian restaurants besides Brasas & Jalea locally so definitely take advantage and experience and incredible cuisine. The food was delicious and the main entrees we ordered were a good portion size (especially the Mostrito de Brasas). However, the ceviche mixto was a very small portion -- about four medium-sized shrimp for $18. When we walked in, the server spoke to us from across the room while standing at another table, which felt uncomfortable and drew the attention of the entire restaurant. Customers should be greeted at the door, not addressed from a distance. That same server then began polishing silverware at the end of the bar near us, and at one point, a kitchen staff member was visible eating in plain view of guests seated at the bar. It was disappointing to experience these lapses, especially since they are easily avoidable and come down to basic service awareness. read more

Went for the first time last night with two girlfriends and we were so impressed! It's small and we got really great service the whole time. The waitress was very friendly and checked in on us the right amount of times. We got the ceviche and papa rellena- the ceviche was so fresh! We got the grilled pork belly, the chicken curry and the 1/2 chicken with 2 sides (went with friends and maduros), and while all were good, the chicken curry was really out of this world! I came here in the late afternoon on Saturday eager to try their Aji Amarillo chicken curry. I knew the place was small but I wasn't aware how small it was until I entered. I was greeted promptly and then asked if I had a reservation. I told her no and she said there was one open seat at the bar so I took it. The bartender was the only one working and immediately gave me water and menus. My stomach was a bit upset so I knew not to get any alcohol. I stuck with water and got the aforementioned dish I came there for. The ambiance of the restaurant seemed relaxed. There was one tv at the bar but everyone seemed to be enjoying their food and engaging in conversation. After a short wait my food arrived and I couldn't wait to dig in. While I've had several Peruvian dishes before, the Aji de Gallina or in this case at Brasas, (Aji Amarillo chicken curry) has always been my favorite. I was hoping that I be wowed by my first bite, but sadly that never came. The dish was good, but I felt like it was missing something. I wonder if it's because all the other times I've had it at other places, it was usually accompanied by a shredded cheese and something else. Regardless, I was hungry so it satisfied my appetite. The sauce was flavorful with little hints of spice and the chicken was good. Overall, I was pleased with the food and the service. My only gripe is that the bartender can take a chill pill. So, last Thursday my wife and I attended the Allen Stone concert at The Pageant. Great show by the way. We decided to book something close to the concert hall and Brasas is across the street. Secured a reservation for 2 at 5pm. We were the first to arrive at the restaurant. It is a small but inviting space. I'd call it cozy. The service was effective and friendly with Caitlyn. She was manning the bar and tables. We started with the Papa Rellena. It's amazing and I highly recommend it. My wife enjoyed the Mostrito de Brasas for her entree. The chicken comes with cremas (delicious little sauces that are amazing but totally unnecessary as the chicken is so well flavored). Highly recommend the garlic rice and bean stew combo as a side. The partner and I like to try a lot of things, so we started with ceviche, and the picanha anticuchos, they had a great flavor, 0 complaints. My only comment, as someone who has had aji de gallina, home made, was there was not a whole lot of flavor. The sauces it's served with are delicious accompaniments. I'm not a pick the meat off the bone guy, however this made me like a starving wolf out in the forest. I loved having dinner here. It's a smaller restaurant but I made a reservation for two for me and a friend and got to sit at the bar. The bartender was wonderful and I ordered the Mosquito to start. It was perfect! For Apps I got the Potato/Yucca Croquettes and they were crispy and perfectly fluffy inside. For mains we decided on the chicken curry and a quarter of chicken with salad as a side and the maduros. Absolutely loved it all! The Brasas Chicken is marinated 16 hours and the flavor explosion when biting into one of the pieces of perfectly charred chicken is proof. I do not regret much in this life, but added to my small list is not trying Brasas sooner. The interior is cute. Feels a bit like an intimate diner. A very small space with a bar and a few seats. The worker greeted me with glee and got my takeaway order over to me fast. The food is phenomenal. A simple approach menu that has perfection written all over it. The chicken is so flavorful and juicy. You can taste the smoke, the herbs, seasonings. Tender, succulent. Masterful. The cremas are superb. I have no idea what is inside each one, but one is cumin forward and that one was my favorite (Yellow). The potatoes are amazing. Seasoned with herbs and hefty. The steak fries are incredible--and I do not even like steak fries, lol. They are seasoned to perfection with a salty seasoning mixture. This may be a new go to takeaway spot to add to my rotation. Small spot in the loop, definitely recommend a reservation as noted by other reviewers. Only one bartender/server for a Thursday night and it seemed like she got a little stretched as the place filled up but she was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Also appreciated that she brought out an ice cream treat since I noted on the reservation that we were celebrating. We went with her recommendations of the pollo a la Brasas and Peruvian fried rice. Don't skip the chicken! Very flavorful and you get your pick of sides. The sauce trio was nice to try different combos, we preferred the green and yellow for the chicken. The orange sauce was great with the fries. Sides wise, on the maduros; the Peruvian bean stew was ok but we decided that ordering the beans + rice combo would probably be better. The Peruvian fried rice was good but warning that it packs some heat which we weren't expecting. Recommend the ice cream too, unique rich flavor that we weren't expecting! Very pleasantly surprised with Brasas! It's one of the only nicer restaurants on the loop, and while the menu is small and humble, the interior has a very nice, sleek ambience. It is a quaint restaurant, though, so I recommend getting a reservation ahead of time. Our server was so bubbly and sweet, and she helped us pick out what we wanted to try. Here's what we ended up getting: -Papa Rellena: 9/10- The potato was perfectly flash fried and crispy on the outside, and the inside was soft and stuffed with so much good filling and flavor. Additionally, it was swimming in this beautiful cilantro crema that was one of the best sauces I've had in a good while. -Strip Loin Anticuchos: 8.5/10- These were super savory and the meat was well cooked and tender. You get 2 skewers and a few potatoes, and while they weren't necessarily mind blowing, this is definitely meat executed well. -Pollo A La Brasa (quarter) with salad and rotisserie potatoes: 8.6/10- The chicken has been hyped up, and I half get it. It's not like your jaw will drop, but the chicken is moist and flavorful, and the 3 sauces that come with it add so much gorgeous flavor and depth. The house salad is also incredible, with a fresh zesty ranch dressing and half an avocado on top. We had a such a lovely dinner at Brasas on Halloween night. I was glad that I made a reservation because the restaurant is quite small, and I noticed every single table was reserved. The moment I walked through the door, I thought to myself, "wow such a cozy place with fun vibe for a date night." We ordered a few dishes to share among 2 of us. Alitas nikkei (wings served along with cilantro lime and ranch) was the bomb! It's so good that I almost ordered the second dish. I know, it was finger licking' good!!! Next, the Aji Amarillo chicken curry was a mouthful of taste. The curry texture was very smooth and creamy. Chicken was tender and flavorful. My least favorite was the anticuchos beef heart. I really liked the flavor but didn't like the texture of it. Next time I would try the beef strip loin instead. They must brine/marinate the chicken very well since it was juicy and flavorful throughout - both the dark and white meat. Skin also was crispy and tender. Plantain side was also quite good. Smaller whole plantains were sauteed for a lightly fried outside and sweet inside. You get three cremas for the chicken, which also work great for dipping the sides. read more

My fiancé and I ordered a chicken dinner to go from Brasas last week and it was spectacular! The chicken was tender and the sides were delicious! For the two of us the half chicken with sides was plenty - we had the yucca fries, plantains, and roasted potatoes! Even though we came for pickup, the service was fast and friendly. The restaurant itself is intimate in size but very chic, we can't wait to come for a sit down dinner soon! Ps: we ate the food immediately upon arriving at our apartment so I didn't grab a picture!
