I was in the mood for Portuguese BBQ and wanted to get some takeout. I decided to try Brasa Wood- Fired Grill. I placed my order over the phone and it was ready in 25 minutes for pickup. I started with 2 Beef Empanadas. They were hot with a crispy outside and a soft and tender inside. They were good. Brasa offers a variety of fillings for their Empanadas like Chicken, Pork, or Beef. I then chose for my main dish their Large size Chicken Picadinho. It's enough for two people. I must say after trying many other places that Brasa Wood Fired Grill has the best Picadinho in the area. What makes theirs so good is they add potatoes and sausage in it with the Chicken and Yellow Rice. Their Yellow Rice was very moist and tender it wasn't dry like other places. I really enjoyed every bite. Brasa offers Salads, and a Variety of different Sandwiches, Sides like Sweet Plantains, Mexican Street Corn, Burgers, Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, Wings, Shrimp Ceviche and more. This place is casual with a warm and cozy feel.The staff is very nice and friendly. They do have some seating for dining in. The food is delicious! Five stars for being a fresh selection of menu options. Being new they have some bugs to work out, but I'll touch on those within the review... Coming for lunch the VEGGIE WRAP - Seasonal grilled vegetables, goat cheese spread, baby mixed greens, balsamic, spinach wrap is really great. It doesn't appear on the dinner menu, but it does appear on the Grubhub delivery menu, so is it available all day long? I'm not 100% sure. Either way, the menu is broad enough to have several things I am wanting to try so coming here for dinner one night I had the "COSTELA VACA" BEEF SHORT RIBS - Flanken cut with soy+gochujang or chipotle+brown sugar glaze. I had no idea what "flanken" cut was but just rolled with the idea of giving them a try. It is not something I have seen before, but it worked out very well for dinner and is something I would have again. The bread served table side for dinner is a nice add to the lunch experience. Someone else at the table had the CRISPY SKIN SALMON - Cilantro lime rice, cucumber+feta+olive salad & grilled lemon and was very happy with it. (This is from a person who sometimes is turned off by fish dishes in general) Also, at the request of someone else I ordered a BRASA BURGER - 8oz brisket blend, aged cheddar, Caramelized onion-bacon jam, Blue ribbon sauce on a Portuguese muffin, and they rated it an 8.8 out of 10 which was quite a high rating for the large spectrum of burgers this person has tried. The BERRY-LICIOUS sangria with a Riesling wine worked out well for the table. I think they need to do a better job of describing the sangria experience for the table and also add this information to their website. At the moment I believe I only see a delivery menu on their site. Great if that is what you are doing, not so great if you are trying to figure out what your in person experience is going to be. Speaking of alcohol, they do have a selection of ATHLETIC BEER. Though described as non-alcohol it does have a small amount (less than 0.5% ABV) and never having had or seen it before it was nice to try here. However, served table side in a glass with ICE? No, please don't do that again! Another bonus for the place is a QR code for payment. No, you don't have to use it, but it is there, and I truly wish EVERY place would do this. HOWEVER, at least on an iPhone using Apple Pay (which seems to be the only choice given when bringing up the bill) Amex did not work for me. Selecting a Visa card in my Apple Pay Wallet worked, but something is quirky with the Clover POS they are using, and no, don't blame the customer for this. read more

All around great restaurant. We came Saturday night without reservations and they had a few tables ready. We ordered the shrimp and garlic sauce, street corn and piri piri wings to start. The first had a generous portion of shrimp and the sauce was great for dipping bread in. The street corn was well seasoned. The wings were good, but tasted like regular buffalo wings. Maybe they were going for that? For mains we got the ribs and the skirt steak. The ribs were dry/overcooked unfortunately. The rice and beans that it came with were pretty good. The skirt steak was excellent and loved the chimichurri sauce that accompanied it. Service was great and loved that they projected a March madness game on the wall. Been here a few times and overall food is good (4/5 on a good day, for eat in ONLY) but score definitely takes a hit due to a couple yellow and red flags. First time I ordered was for takeout, which I'll never do again. I was glad to come a few more times before writing a review since I would have given it a 1/5 stars. For some reason their take out is noticeably worse compared to dining in. Service is usually pretty decent, normally via enthusiastic teens or young adults. As for what really put me off was a bait and switch. For any of the pitcher drinks, it lists a good price for the sangrias ($15-20). However, whether you choose the white or red wine version, either choice will add $20+ dollars to your bill, and you aren't made aware of this till the bill comes. When this first happened, I asked about the hidden surcharge, and the waitress explained that's the way it is billed because they do not have a liquor license. This does not explain why you are kept in the dark till the end, and makes. I do not have a problem with paying ~$40 dollars for a pitcher of Sangria, but I do have a huge gripe with what seems to be a bait and switch tactic... read more

Heard @ Brasa wood fired grill in the star ledger restaurant review. Even though it's a 45 min ride we thought we'd give it a try n went there for dinner last nite. Great choice. Little hidden gem in Warren. Friendly attentive staff n clean restaurant. From the warm Portuguese bread to the desert every item we tried was so fresh n delicious. Trued the portugese Sumol- pineapple soda which we've never tried n was so good . Since it was a very cold day we tried the soup of the day beef Barney n the portugese kale potato soup - caldo verde. Both were so good that not a drop left. The cod, beef n chicken croquettes were to die for. The Mexican street corn and kale Cesar salad were delicious. The BBQ piri piri chicken so moist n delicious n the rice n fries that came with it was good. Generous portions n had leftovers. We topped it off w tres leches cakes. OMG it melts in ur mouth. Nice ambiance and although the food was really good, I cannot say the same about the service. This restaurant charges a corkage fee without having a liquor license. According to page 6 from the ABC Handbook for Municipal Issuing Authorities, what they are doing is illegal. When I challenged the waiter, the restaurant would not remove the fee. It's not the cost of the fee that is the problem for me. The problem is that this action is not legal. The restaurant clearly needs the $5 more than I do given how empty they were for a Saturday night. In addition, at 9:10pm we were handed the bill without being given a dessert menu. When I asked for one, I was told the kitchen closed at 9:00pm. Any other server would have come to the table to say "The kitchen is closing soon. Would you like to put in dessert orders?" Well, that did not happen here. Their loss because I know there is a lot of profit for restaurants in dessert and coffee. They were clearly more concerned about leaving as one of the workers started sweeping the floors at around 8:30pm. Too bad, they lost a potential regular patron. read more

Pleasantly surprised as soon as we walked into Brasa, the vibe/ambiance was very nice. They did a great job styling the restaurant, very comfortable and very hip. Our waiter was great, very attentive. We split the riblets (wibs) appetizer which was delicious, nice and crispy and the sauce was delicious. My husband had the beef ribs for dinner, said they were great and I had the garlic chicken. The Portuguese fries and the rice were delicious as was the chicken but a little tough. So easy to pass this place by, but don't! What a hidden gem! It's part of a small strip mall but the inside was so cozy and the menu was unbelievable. You don't find great Portuguese food around this area often, so we were all excited to find this place. It was extremely hard to choose but with the help of the waitress and the owner we ended up with one of the best local meals we've had in a very long time. We went with the pichana, which hit the spot, it was so flavourful and the rice was perfectly cooked so Fluffy and the black beans were perfect. We savoured every bite. I can't wait to go back! We also got the garlic chicken with Portuguese fries. It was prefect blend of garlic without being overpowering. We ate everything up and had no room for dessert, but I imagine it would be just as good. The spot is byob and you can make your own sangria. I think if you venture out in a 10 minute radius you'll find a whole chicken with rice and fries usually between 18-23. This place charges more probably because of the area. I did not however like the portion size of the picadinho, 25ish dollars and it's only enough for one person. We just came back from a trip from Portugal and I was craving Piri Piri chicken. I looked up Portuguese BBQ near me and found Brasa. We ordered take out and WOW! We enjoyed our dinner so much. We had the Mexican street corn (best I've had) sweet plantains (tender) the combo chicken and ribs (Frango & Entrecosto), rice and beans. Meat is so moist and flavorful. We are so happy we found this place. They do not take shortcuts in the meal they prepare. Person who took our order (in-person) was welcoming! I ordered Wibs and house salad, my husband ordered Entrecosto Pork Spare Ribs. For a Friday night, they only have 4 table of customer (two tables only have 2 customers - including us), they took 45 minutes to serve us. Food is pretty good; however, we did not get anything for over 40 minutes until they came to tell us that they are out of pork spare ribs and they need more time to prepare food. I have tell them to give us some bread and salad for us to not get too hungry. If you are hungry, I don't believe thy are a good choice. read more

When we first ordered from this place, shortly after they opened, the food was delicious and the portions were decent. However, subsequent orders did not taste as good as the first. Tonight, had to be the worst. The ribs were small and it was tasteless and rubbery. We put them in the microwave to be sure all were cooked. It was cooked in a hurry and were not seasoned properly. Ordering from here has been a weekly staple in our household, and every time has been just as good as the first.
