Very very good and affordable. I came from out of town and saw this place online. Very popular and the waiters were alert and polite.

Very amicable service and the fact you can BYOB is the best. Good was very good and portion was nice. I had the lamb steak dinner. There wasn't a big crowd and was tended to very very well by the waiting staff.

Great place. I was looking for a place to do take-out but was maybe a little less heavy than what I might get somewhere else, and in fact I actually wanted chicken which is probably how I found Brasa Roja online. They have three locations around here and when I did Grubhub I think it was from the Elston location, but I picked up here a few days ago at Montrose. The restaurant was really busy when I got there but when I called to place my order, she said to give them about ten minutes. Ten minutes?? Super fast. My Google Maps said it would take 12 to get there. Parking is probably a bit hit or miss but I lucked out finding a spot on Troy to pop in and pick up. I will definitely continue ordering from them because the quality of the food is fantastic, and it's delicious. I ordered the special both days, which was chicken breast, rice, and beans with a bit of salad. The portions are good--I had leftovers both days, which makes me happy because that's one fewer meal that I have to worry about. The prices were very reasonable as well as far as I'm concerned.

First time here at Brasa Roja!!

Brasa Roja means red embers and that's exactly what you see as you walk in - their rotisserie chickens are roasting over real fire wood. That flavor you can't replicate at Costco, if you've ever BBQd or cooked with real wood, it takes the meat to an entirely different level. This is also a chain but I would go to this location because it has a 4 star overall average whereas the other two locations are in the 3.5 star range. The interior has a lot of nicely painted walls, I guess to make you feel like you're in Columbia?? There's a lot seating and they're well staffed so you won't have any issues getting served. Got half a rotisserie chicken because those red embers got my belly fired up for that. The garlic chicken on a sizzling hot plate was extremely satisfying. First, there was so much of it and the garlic flavor, it was so strong and oh so good. I also enjoyed their accompanying red and green sauces. You also can't go wrong with the ribeye lunch, that's such a deal and a great value for the money and taste. The empanadas was a solid 3 stars, I'd skip those if I were you but you should be the judge of that. Street pahking on Montrose and in the Hood. I think it's BYOB, I'm sure it is.

Rotisserie Chicken (Whole)

I got the whole rotisserie chicken. It was a great value. My buddy was raving about this place so I set the bar high. I found it to be good but not great. Still I would recommend this place. Maybe I came on an off day. I'd definitely give them a second chance. Didn't get a picture but had the corn pancake with cheese. That was something I've never had and would highly recommend to anyone visiting here for the first time.

Very disappointing. The entire meal was exceedingly overcooked, and the waiter was indifferent about it.

Loved the flavors, though Mango agua fresca (7/10): pretty good, but tasted more like smoothie than a liquid drink. Not mind-blowing enough for me to spend $10 on it Limonada agua fresca (7.5/10): better than the mango, but same comments as above. Omar is a legend. He's so friendly! The whole cafe area is awesome. You order at the food truck window and grab a seat. They brought our food inside to us on a tray. We ordered the rope vieja, steak jibaritos, and flautas . Everything was very good but I especially loved the flautas with the consome. It was absolutely delicious and very unique, I drank the leftover consome because it was that good . Just poor everything in one big bowl . The flautas keep their crisp even when swimming in the broth . I liked the shredded Munster cheese on the jibarito and loved the green sauce . Sooo good!! The restaurant is byob and we brought mixes for bloody Mary's and some beers. It was nice to enjoy the meal and not feel rushed . I really enjoyed the experience, good music playing and kind service . Definitely recommend

We ended up trying several of their cocktails and there were no misses for us. Imagine our surprise when we found out La Licor does happy hour! Even though there were other tables were filled and music was playing, I appreciated the bar wasn't too loud and I was able to hear my friend. Top five bar fries in Chicago for me!

You definitely need a reservation after 6:30pm as it got pretty crowded but the bar was empty. The restaurant was not too loud, the tables were very uncomfortable to sit at due to the center of the table being a wooden stump like object. Which made it hard to push your seat in, and the table was wobbly. They also turn the lights off mostly, which actually makes for a great vibe. Other than the uncomfortable seats and tables. They have a lot of drinks, specifically cocktails with unique flavor profiles, using green peppers and corn in drinks. I started with trying the two frozen beverages one was a ginger drink and the other was a sweet milky corn beverage, both unique, not for me. But it was so nice they allowed us to try them. We got the empanada trio (beef, chicken, and veggie). The veggie was very corn forward, almost only corn and some spices. If you love corn you'd love the food and drinks. We also got chorizo arepas which were tasty, but the sliced chorizo didn't seem to match the bite of the arepas. It may have made more sense to have had crumbling chorizo on the arepas. And finally we had the yuca fries, which case with a thick sauce and cojita cheese. They were very good. I asked for a side of hot sauce, it was a mild sauce but it was good. Seemingly homemade. The service was okay, it took a while to get a drink, then to actually get the drink took a long time, and then trying to order and leave took a while. It wasn't a bad experience. This place was featured on the travel network as a must try. If you want to try something new, love corn, definitely recommend.
