We stopped for dinner after a baseball game near by. We checked to see what was around and we saw it had jibaritos here. We drove four minutes to get here. There's no parking on the street Monday thru Saturday certain hours but there is a huge shopping mall across with tons of parking. We got lucky it was Sunday and we can park outside the business. We went inside and super nice service from everyone that works here. They got a table for six ready and greeted us. We put in our drink order and appetizer we got five empanadas four steak and one chicken. The service was on point and they were very busy. The restaurant was super clean and very trendy. We got two different hot sauces for our empanadas. The empanadas were very good it was like a potato base mixed with spices and steak. I loved the steak one over the chicken but still was good. Then we got the carne asada tostones and they were amazing and loaded with chopped up steak and salsa and aguacate chunks. The presentation looked very delicious and the taste was perfect. Between the family we ordered a steak jibarito, entraña la parrilla, carne asada plate and bandeja paisa. The steak jibarito was a bit different from Puerto Rican spots. This jibarito had mozzarella cheese instead of yellow American cheese and it didn't have mayo ketchup. Overall it was still very delicious with a nice cut of steak with the perfect seasoning. The entraña la parrilla was very delicious it a very nice huge piece of skirt steak cooked to your like. It comes with white rice and plantains. Very juicy and seasoned very nice would recommend to everyone. The bandeja paisa just wow so much on a cutting board. It had a link of Colombian chorizo, chicharrón, over easy eggs on top of white rice with a side of black beans and maduros. Then you choose the cut of meat you have three choices. We went with the owner recommendation of meat and it was so tender with a seasoning that was amazing. The carne asada plate was very good as well it comes with a sirloin cut and a side salad white rice and beans. The owner was very nice to substitute the rice and beans for French fries. The fries were really good here. Overall I will be coming here it was very delicious they do charge a gratitude of 18% for a party of five and up. Also recommend to pay with cash so you're not hit with a 4% charge from the bank. The prices are a bit expensive for a thinner cut of meat but the food was delicious.

Decided to go here for happy hour after seeing it on my social media. I am so glad I did. They can accommodate small and larger parties. Our waitress was so sweet and gave great recommendations. There were very few people working for several tables. The passion fruit mojitos were a hit at our table, we could have drank those all night! All of the meat was very soft and tasted fresh. The plantains were also very yummy. Wish the yuca fries & potatoes had more seasoning.

Stumbled upon this place purely by accident and absolutely fell in love with it! Was just wanting something "different" on a Sunday and the food looked good so we took a chance. We were welcomed and served with such attention that we almost felt like family. Alicia was so wonderful and took great care to explain everything on the menu and ensure we were happy with our choices. We started out with passion fruit and South American blackberry juice for our beverages. The empanadas were piping hot and crunchy and delicious. (The cheese one was my favorite.) The steaks, plantains, pork belly, beans, rice w/egg, French Fries, sauces, everything was top notch fresh, hot, and tasty. Passion fruit "cheesecake" for desert was decadent. The only minor thing we noticed was we prefer a little more salt on most things but that didn't deter our love for everything we ate. Plenty of food so we have leftovers to take home!

Great service, delicious food, and priced very reasonably. One of the best spots in the area!

Delicious food and super nice waitress! The cheese arepas were simple but tasty. The chorizo with a plain arepa with lime is delicious. I'll def be back!

Beware..... of yourself…read more Palm Sunday one of the busiest Sundays of the year. Most cafes get hit with the after church crowd. I sat by the back wall and witnessed what hostesses, waitresses, waiters, cashiers, chefs, cooks.... go through. A table became so selfishly rude and impatient. A restaurant full of people. *** if a restaurant is full and has a line outside... as a foodie.... that's a GREAT SIGN*** It reminded me of the times, I was rude, full of myself, immature, selfish, impatient, obnoxious, ridiculous, wrong!!!! I wanted to defend the staff so badly, I wanted to step up and say something. But instead I observed how poor of a customer we are and have become. All in all, the 2 waitresses, were humble, quiet, patience, pleading with the crowd, smiling, trying, cleaning, answering calls, welcoming each costumer/s, taking orders, preparing online orders, attending to each table promptly. Our food was timely, delicious, affordable, amazing. More importantly the staff on point is AMAZING!! I hope you each search your heart, think!!! One day your loved one, child, grandchild, yourself... may be in a similar situation. Treat and appreciate your waiter/s, delivery person, cashier..... and bless them. Thank you for an amazing meal each and every time. I hope the owner, appreciates and compensates the waitresses. You don't need to go bankrupt.

Had I written this review the first 2 or 3x I visited I'd have easily given them 5 stars. Today? 4…read morewill do. I like that the space is small, that the service is attentive (normal attentive not fake attentive) and I like that the food is always good. I usually get the same thing, a jibarito with lechon and rice. A soda and some sides. This time around I had a jibarito (lechon), a coke and 3 pastelitos de guava (2 with cheese). All that was just shy of $30. The price was higher than I remembered but I get that prices everywhere now are ridiculous so I didn't knock them a star for that. But the portion was sooooo flimsy. Usually it's heaping! Lots of rice! Lots of carne! Today? Just enough rice and the sandwich was basically a pancake there was barely lechon. I know it's a Cuban restaurant but damn did u have to give me Cuban portions? I think they're slightly better than Jibaritos on Harlem (not nearly as good as Jibaritos on Kimball) but I don't know if I'd come back for a jibarito here unless I absolutely had no other choice. I'd probably go back and do something else maybe on the Cuban side of their menu. They also make Cuban Chinese food which I might opt into! Their pastelitos are legit though. Although I don't know why they kept giving me these flat ones instead of the beautiful puffy pastry ones in the little kiosk. Hence why I ordered so many, even after the third time I still got these odd flat ones but whatever, they were good no less. It was just a really off day today. Still enjoyed my food, just not as much as I had on previous visits.

Do I recommend this business???? YES!!!…read more Living in Portage Park, we have come here a few times and they have never disappointed. I've had the ceviche, the Lomo saltado, seco de carne, papa relleno, and the Papas a la Diabla with the steak. There is not one item that I have gotten from here that I have not enjoyed. Do yourself a favor and try their drinks too. Chicha Morada is a Peruvian maize drink, and really different, good, and refreshing. My favorite though is the Maracuya. You know it's real passion fruit juice when you see the seeds. I'm almost always able to find street parking on Cicero when we have come here. The servers are also very nice each time that I've been here. The restaurant itself says they are open until 9p, but be warned that their kitchen closes at 8p, so don't come in later than that. The dining room is nice for a dinner with friends or a more intimate date night, and the paintings on the wall are beautiful renditions of Peruvian culture.
