The food was delicious but the service was very bad! It took a very long time for someone to take our order. My boyfriend had and I are patient people but it felt like no one was attending to us at all. After our meal was finished we asked for the check and waited another 15 minutes till my man reminded the waiter we wanted our check. I really enjoyed the food but the service needs to improve.

We had a lovely dinner here. We came very early and it was nearly empty, so the sound was fine. It is very small with a stage VERY close to the tables. I have a feeling that dinner while they have live music would be very loud. My passionfruit mojito was phenomenal. Very fresh and not too sweet. I had the steak, which was a bit more fatty than I prefer. However, the sauce for the steak (and the sauce that I kept from the empanada appetizer) was great on it. The empanadas are delicious. We ordered the beef and veggie. Both were full of flavor and crispy.

Looking for Colombian food and we came across to this restaurant. I order a fried fish and yuca with a blackberry juice and my boyfriend order the bandeja paisa. We also empanadas for appezitier. The employee is very nice and welcoming. I would come back again. Street parking and there is enough side for a party.

This place was not good at all. Very overpriced for what they serve. The service was the worse. I guess they were not happy because it was 8 of us, totally understanding. My issue was that one of the waiters was checking on every single table except ours. He brought out a plate and gave a snarky look. I asked if he was ok and he said yeah. We overheard him tell the other table that he doesn't like serving big groups of our ethnicity. We asked for him water and he refused to bring it because he wasn't our waiter. He said "I'll tell your waiter to bring you water because this is not my table" .. does it really kill you to bring water to the table? All I know is that service is horrible and food not even good.

Not byob so we are taking it to go Food looks good Rustic interior Hope to come back for dining sometime soon if the food is good Restaurant is almost full so that's a good sign Staff was nice So we shall see ! There are 2 rooms to dine in. Interesting little storefront on Peterson Avenue. They serve beer so maybe that's why we could not open our bottle of wine. Service seems a little slow. Not sure if we will comeback.

The restaurant serves authentic and delicious foods from South America Colombia. The vibe is calming and very inviting. The pechuga Al carbon was a flat grilled chicken breast, and the portions were huge. The service was welcoming, friendly, and helpful when asking about the menu. Live music plays on Saturdays in the back area of the restaurant. It's a great place to go with friends and family in Chicago!

Sabor a Cafe Colombian is delicious and the menu is outstanding. They have homemade in-house chorizo which is truly delicious. The service was amazing and everything came out piping hot. Highly recommend 10/10

The food is amazing. The decor is gorgeous. I went during lunchtime there was a decent amount of people and service was quick. Highly recommend this gem. Will have to come back out for live music.

We used to live nearby so we've been here several times. Love this place! The service can be a bit hit or miss but it was excellent this time. Parking is usually pretty easy, the decor quaint and clean, the food very good and the drinks top notch! If your first time here, try the paradilla it's a little bit of everything...a Colombian meatlover's dream! I really enjoy that they make their chicken super thin, it just makes it much more flavorful. I'm not sure what they do to their rice but it is a nice salty fluffy perfection. What really makes their food even better are the sauces! We always end up ordering extra, and then extra after that! We also love their margaritas! Served in nice heavy glasses and strong (especially if you ask them to make em strong!) All in all a great place for Colombian food or if you love meat! On weekends there is also live music which is always fun!

I was there this past weekend for one of their live music event and was impressed with the small/cozy venue! We had a reservation for 8pm and we showed up about 15mins early but since our table was ready they sat us down right away. All of us ordered either the mango mojito or the passion fruit mojito... the passion fruit was by far my favorite and highly addictive!! Right away we asked for separate checks and the waitress (Jenny) did an excellent job tracking down the items we all ordered throughout the night. I had the "parrillada" dish which was great and had a little bit of everything! It has a piece of steak, grilled chicken, a sausage, and two pieces of shrimp with a side of plantain (fried into small pieces like french fries) and some potatoes and yuca. Everyone in the table seemed to enjoy their food and the popular dish was the "Bandeja Paisa" which had a lot going on. The place was crowded and with the live music it was super fun! It was lively and some people were dancing between the tables. We had a few rounds of mojitos and even walked out with a CD of the bands latest album. The audio is great for a small intimate venue which was cool. I would def be back for other live music events in the future!!

The Dip was AMAZING( I had 3 of them)

My lovely wife and I decided to have lunch at El Fogon de Elena on a very busy Sunday. This is a…read moresnug Colombian restaurant on Lawrence just a tad east of Kedzie. So our server stated that our first-choice food selections were not available (steak jibarito and beef arepa) so instead we then ordered empanadas (one beef, one shrimp) and the chuleta valluna. We noticed that the kitchen was slingin' some massive plates of food, so we decided to split the one entree and the empanadas. Well the server comes along and says they are out of shrimp empanadas. How can a restaurant be out of so many food items when it is barely past 1PM? We decided to do just the single entree and the single empanada. I also ordered a can of Inca Kola (good stuff, though I had to beg for the drink after our food was served), and we did get some ice water. The beef empanada was AOK, not bad. The chuleta valluna features a massive flattened breaded pork chop along with many items (rice, fries, yuca fries, tostones, yellow potato, salad). The menu mentioned this dish would also have sweet plantain, but perhaps the yuca fries were a sub for the sweet plantain. I gotta admit, the food overall is pretty good. The service from the staff was pleasant, but there was always something "off" during our dining experience. When the bill came, we were charged for the shrimp empanada that was not being served, so we had to ask for a corrected bill to deduct the missing empanada. Overall we had extremely mixed feelings about our lunchtime here. Perhaps it was just a super busy day here, but I am feeling overly generous with my three-star review.
