We ate breakfast here, good food. My daughter and I both had the French toast. I also had hash browns and bacon. Hash browns were cooked perfect for me. My daughter added the cinnamon roll to her meal and she said it was good. Best part was the hot coco. Small establishment, but very friendly people. This is a quaint cafe on the Main Street of old town Branson. The interior is quite small and cramped but filled with lots of people. As soon as we were seated we noticed none of the servers or kitchen staff were wearing masks. When we asked our server why, she just stated that she can't wear masks. That doesn't explain why any of the other workers don't wear them. When asked how she gets by not wearing a mask out in other places, she stated she doesn't go out much. While the food was good, the cafe has no social distancing and no regard for wearing masks. read more

So while vacationing Missouri we decided to give this place a try since they have chicken fried steak on their menu. The place was decent and clean. Waitress wasn't friendly. The food that we ordered was terrible. No flavor and not to forget the rolls were as hard as stones. Never again. read more

My husband enjoyed the breakfast skillet and I had the jalapeño burger. The cheese was melted, yet somehow still very cold, and the burger as a whole was only ok. Nothing great. Be warned they don't serve pancakes between 11 and 2 and ran out of biscuits when we went which was the only reason we went. My husband and I both ordered salads as an appetizer and the salads came out 15 minutes apart, which was weird to us. We eat at cafes all across the country and try every one we have a chance to try while we are traveling and this one was only ok to us. The only thing we both really enjoyed was the coffee. Cracker Barrel would have been better truthfully. read more

We stopped at Branson Cafe for a light dinner and it was great. My husband and I shared the Philly. It was so fresh and delicious. The onion rings were freshly battered and fried to perfection! There were 2 in our party for breakfast. We arrived just before a crowd, although it was very busy already. We were seated quickly and provided drinks. Service was polite and efficient. I believe the kitchen was very under staffed, however. We waited 40 minutes for scrambled eggs, toast and hash browns. The eggs were beautifully done, not over cooked. However, my hash browns weren't browned at all, nor were they cooked. I think they hit the grill long enough to become lukewarm and that was about all. It was like eating raw potato, so they stayed on the plate. Very underwhelmed. The only thing saving my breakfast was the eggs not being destroyed like they are at many places. read more

I was told the food was good, but was treated so rudely by the waitress, I had to walk out before my breakfast was served. Her biggest beef was that I actually wore a mask into the restaurant. She then proceeded to rant throughout the restaurant to other tables about liberals that insist on wearing masks and forcing their children to do so. I didn't say anything about her not wearing a mask, but she chose to abuse me for wearing one!?!? So disappointing. I was so looking forward to some good home cooked chicken fried steak and eggs, but this waitress (I'm sure the management and regulars know her by name) ruined the whole Branson experience for me. Food was great. Prices are good. Staff was ok. I love these Mom and Pop type locally owned places. Family's food looked great. We had no complaints and it was a great respite from the heat. I was set to LOVE the Branson Cafe, unfortunately, I only liked it. I had done some online research and it was recommended as a local favorite with down home cooking at great prices. It certainly lives up to that expectation. I was there for one reason. Fried Chicken. I consider myself a fried chicken enthusiast and I was really looking forward to a great fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans. I ordered the four piece dinner which also came with a salad. The chicken is fried to order and it is expertly fried, it just doesn't have any flavor. It's shame they didn't take the time to brine the chicken or season the batter. The breading was very floury. I will say, it's dirt cheap at $7.95 for the full dinner. This place was good. No obvious flaws to comment on. One thing I noticed was they had minimal attendance, only a couple other people there besides me. I got a chili dog, and it was very good. This restaurant is a staple, having been part of the landscape for...well, just look for Joyce. She has been serving there for 55 years (and counting). They compete with The Farmhouse across the street, which serves breakfast "anytime." Yes, they put it in quotes, which literally means they only serve breakfast selectively. But I digress. It's standards and basics for breakfast before you hit the lake: biscuits and gravy, eggs/skillets, and the delightfully descriptive "cornmeal mush" which bears the unlikely serving size of "three thick slices." The price? Super cheap. A variety of homemade pastries, including cinnamon rolls the size of a King James Bible are available as well. Amongst other must-see features is following the "yellow brick road" (as their signage indicates) to the bathroom. This trail of linoleum takes you through the kitchen. Yes, you walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. This is fast and filling diner food, served with Branson hospitality at a price that makes you feel a bit guilty. Preface: I come from the pretentious land of Chicago where best-in-class restaurants are found on every block. Atmosphere is great - exactly what you'd expect from an old-time country town like Branson. The Branson Cafe touted everything is made from scratch and it looked like they had some good menu items. I opted for a standard omelette for my breakfast. Here's where the 3 star comes in. I wanted an omelette with some meat (only offered ham and hamburger...huh?) and veggies. The waitress couldn't comprehend why I'd want that and not a standard option from the menu (an omelette blanketed in cheese with bacon doesn't fit everyone's diet structure). Oh well. Got my omelette. It was OK. If you're looking for a place with breakfast staples (and good coffee to boot), this is your spot. read more

Some highs, more lows. Service was good, quick and friendly and the prices were very good for a quick lunch spot. All the food seemed to be seasoned for an older person's palate. Very bland but nothing a dash of salt and pepper couldn't help. Our group of four got four different items: the chicken fried steak, the patty melt, the open face roast beef sandwich and the frito chili pie. The patty melt and the open faced roast beef were delicious, the roast beef was served with brown gravy and mashed potatoes which had to have liberal amounts of salt and pepper applied but ended up being tasty. The chicken fried steak was a little small, served cold and lacked seasoning. Even when served with mash potatoes and white gravy, this dish wouldn't rank higher than a 5/10. The biggest mistake of the day came when ordering the frito chili pie. They say chili is "dad's chili." Dad must have had zero taste buds because it was pretty gross. It was also served like a Mexican dish with lettuce, tomatoes and a side of salsa. Not your typical accompaniments for frito chili pie. Overall, we would probably come back to see if they can redeem themselves for breakfast and might even give it another shot for lunch. read more

I feel a little guilty only giving 3 stars but to me that is average - like the food at this place. Not bad, just not "Wow - this is awesome!" type of food. Simple, country style, lots of fried things. We had breakfast here - I think the waitress was named Flo, had a beehive haircut with a pencil in it, and she chewed gum. OK, not really, but pretty close. Old style cafe, cheap prices, hot food. The biscuits and gravy were only average; I doubt the gravy was made from scratch. The ambiance and the fact it is in the old down-town make this place worth at least once visit. It is like going back in time to Mayberry. The service could have been better, but with what they were working with, we were understanding until we went to pay the bill. Our family ate here for lunch. We had a mix a breakfast, burgers, and chicken fingers. Everyone enjoyed their food! The waitress was VERY busy, a bit impatient, but somehow pleasant and charming. I guess that is what you expect at an authentic diner. Every seat is full and their is a line of people waiting to get in. I like Branson Cafe. It's been here forever. It's the quintessential downtown cafe. Old fashioned menu and service in a cozy old-fashioned atmosphere. Definitely a good place to grab a bite while shopping in the downtown area. read more

We enjoyed our meal here. We were looking for something quick and simple. I ordered the tenderloin which was delicious. We also ordered a piece of the magnolia pie. I was with my mom and grandma and we'd never heard of such a pie. It was similar to a pecan pie but made with coconut. It was very sweet but very good. The prices were reasonable. We spent just under $30 after tip for 3 of us (grandma only had soup). The servers were friendly and attentive. If you are downtown to visit the 5 & Dime this is a great place to grab a bite. read more

No one greeted us, staff were rude and unwelcoming. They told us it would be a 20 minute wait- yet they had open tables, we asked about open tables they told us they had a list of people waiting outside to be seated- yet no one was being seated...rude, terrible customer service read more

I spoke with the Marriott desk clerk and asked her about place to eat when we checked into the Willow Ridge Lodge. She went over a few in New Branson but told me any of the restaurants in Old Branson would be good because most have been there over 50 years and they would not be if the food was bad. It is a very, very small restaurant. On the outside there is a cheerful red awning that says Branson Cafe. Walking into the place takes you back to the fifties??? I am guessing. Could be earlier than that for sure. read more

Both got full for just over $20. Fast server for how busy it was. We shared a table with strangers. We didn't mind that one bit. Now the food... We both got the specials. Catfish was bland but fresh. Hush puppies has the same issues. The spaghetti had meat sauce and that was good. It was watery though.. I had to blot it with a napkin. I also had to use salt which I do not typically do. This is old time home cooking....well except for the hash browns. But, the biscuits are made from scratch.

I called a simple order and simply two legs fried chicken legs that's all got here told me it would be 15 minute drive all the way across town to get here 15 minutes I got here for the order had not been filled. I had my dog with me in the car thinking this would be a simple trip in and out which it was not thank God it wasn't one of those 90 degree days not too happy with Branson Cafe right now. Nice place to get home cooked style meal. We came here at 4pm (late lunch/early dinner). The waitress was super friendly and tentative. We had fried chicken and fried pork tenderloin. Both were very good. I think Branson Cafe has the best fried chicken in the whole town. The chicken was crispy but not greasy, the breading was light, and the meat was so moist. It's not overly salty. It's one of the best fried chicken that I have had. The pork tenderloin was very tender and moist too. Our meal came with some buttery wheat dinner rolls, and they were yummy! I took one star off because I didn't like their side dishes. Mashed potato was luke warm and a bit dry, while spinach was lack of flavor and way too mushy. We ended the meal with a piece of chocolate cream pie. I could do without the pie but my husband like it. Overall it's a good restaurant and worth a visit. read more

Went here and got right in for brunch, waitress was running around like a crazy person but she got us taken care of. Usually diners have quick service but that wasn't the case at the Branson Cafe.
