I'm not sure if they were understaffed but went in for a late dinner around 2030hrs. One female was the bartender and server for the whole dining room. Ordered a Guinness which tasted very flat that I didn't finish. When I went to order the food, I was told they were out of potato's and cabbage so just about everything on the hearty meals menu was not available. Including the stew which was going to be my go-to. What Irish restaurant doesn't have potato's and cabbage? Ended up getting the seafood pasta plate. It was bland and watery. Got my tab and waited, and waited, and waited for her to come back so I could pay but she was busy with other guests and behind the bar and talking to a highly intoxicated gentleman. Overheard her tell the customers who came in after me that they were closing at "9 or 10" when the hours listed show them open til 2300hrs. That was at 2055 before I'd even gotten my meal. I ended up going up to the bar to pay my tab since she was not coming to my table. A major strikeout for me on food, drink AND service. read more

We have been coming here a long time and stopped by for dinner last Sunday for a few beers and an early dinner. There was one guy who was the bartender and the only server. There was a football game on so it was much too busy to be that understaffed. The poor guy tried but... The drinks were priced fairly reasonably, and the waitress/bartender during the afternoon was very friendly -- but the food wasn't very good, and the place smelled of strong cleaning products. Like to the point of getting nauseous. We got the pasties. They were 90% pastry crust, 9% mashed potatoes, and 1% ground beef. There was probably a half ounce of meat between the two pasties. Not an exaggeration. They tasted like a generic pre-made product re-heated from Sysco. (Also like if you ordered the Shepard's Pie, you'd get the same thing, with a different presentation) The atmosphere was also as though it were ordered out of a generic catalog of Irish bar decor. Sort of like a turn-key "Start your own Irish Bar" thing. Overheard the waitress saying 11 of her 12 tables that day were tourists. The food wasn't horrible, but if you want to get COVID, pony up at this place. Nobody was wearing masks, including the entire staff. Our server was leaning against the tables, grabbing cash tips, grabbing peoples' glasses for refills, everything short of hugging strangers. We almost left, but figured, at that point, we were already exposed. It's possible they all followed recommendations made by experts last year and drank bleach to make themselves immune. I stopped in here for dinner. It was crowded and people seemed to be having a good time. I was seated quickly. This is an Irish pub, so the menu reflects that theme. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage. The beef was tender. It might have been a bit too tender. The cabbage was good, cooked just right. It came with lots of carrots, which were tender without being mushy. They were served nice and hot. I ate all I could; it was good. They had a very good singer playing. I enjoyed his music very much. His voice and his songs fit the place perfectly. Not feeling particularly well, I ordered water for dinner. They were a little slow in bringing it. A party of four of us had lunch here. We did not arrive until 1 PM. From the time we ordered our food until it arrived, it was 50 minutes. I'm sorry, but that is way too long. My husband and I split a Reuben sandwich. It certainly was not the best I've ever had but it was OK. Not much meat and I had to search to find the sauerkraut. One of our friends had the chicken pot pie and she liked it. Our other friend had a sandwich that was made out of pretzel bread and he enjoyed it. The ambience is very nice and our bartender was nice but not very attentive. I would have given it one more star had it not taken so long to get our food. Went on a Saturday for lunch. Place was pretty empty. Nice enough inside - like a chain Irish pub. I started with an apple cider. Mmmm apple cider. I had a corned beef reuben. It was really good - good amount of corned beef, well flavored with the sauce and other ingredients. I had a salad with it - which was small and pretty pathetic. I also asked for some soda bread (my girlfriend got some with her salad). It was nothing like real soda bread - it was more like a cranberry scone. It was really good - a bit sweet. My father-in-law got fries with his reuben - they were quite good. Crispy, a bit spiced. Nice. Our server was really good. He got me at least 5 refills of water. And at the end, recited a long poem for us, which was interesting. Didn't care much for it, but it was certainly novel. read more

Food was delicious. Had the Salmon Flatbread and are planning a trip back from the east just for that. The Rueben is probably the best I've ever had, and if you read my crap, you'll see that I love Ruebens. My lady friend had a Pastie; light, fluffy, and delectable. The gravy was a perfect accompaniment to a great dish. We can't wait to return to Kalispell and have another outstanding meal at Brannigans. read more

This review was over due! When I lived in Montana, Brannigan's Pub was one of my go to places to go after work for a good time and delish food. It's cozy and plenty of TV's to enjoy. My two favorite dishes I use to get and to this time miss and crave is the Shepard's Pie and the Banger and Mash BUT before getting one or the other as my main course, I started with the Dippin' Sticks...that delicious stone-ground mustard cheesy beer dip is legit!! Brannigan's...a solid 4! We've eaten here twice. The first time I had corned beef and cabbage, and the second time I had the reuben. I have a dairy allergy so they left the cheese off of the reuben. The atmosphere here is fantastic, truly very Irish. They have a great beer and Irish Whiskey selection (very nice). Both times we were here for lunch on a Sunday and it was almost empty inside. The service was friendly, though nothing to gush over. They accommodated my dairy allergy. The corned beef is just awesome, and they keep their beer lines nice and clean (AWESOME, why don't more places take good care of their lines?) However, the sides (salad with the reuben) and other accoutrement are really kinda "meh." So, while I will definitely eat here again, it wasn't anything I'd write home about. Also, it seemed a bit pricey ($13 reuben, if I recall) for the food for what it is. Not horrible, just a little high. Solid place, I'd check it out if I were you! read more

Guinness stout on tap is always a good thing. We got pasties that come with a side of gravy. You can choose to get one, two or three. They are well-filled and have a nice crust. We also got a turkey Reuben sandwich that comes on a tasty marble rye bread. It had a thick layer of turkey, and the thick fries were hot and fresh out of the fryer. I ate here forever ago and realized just now that I never posted a review. I cannot speak highly enough of the Reuben sandwich. The marbled rye was delicious. Our server was friendly but had to listen other server talk so loud everyone in the place heard her life story, financial situation and her summer plans. I crave their Reuben sandwich. Best one I have ever had. It has so much meat on it, it's ridiculous. And it's huge - my sister and I usually share it. Get the tomato-bacon dressing on a side salad - very savory. My brother loves the Shepherd's pie and Ghost Death beer. We are pasty snobs - our mom and grandma were from Butte. The pasties here are different than a Butte pasty - the crust Is different - but they are still very good. Service is fun and personal - we've had our server recite poetry which was awesome! Full disclosure, I eat NSNG (no sugar, no grains). This limits my meal selection, but I try not to judge a restaurant by their menu but by their service and ability to be flexible to my diet. The only thing on the menu that really worked for my diet was the Corn Beef and Hash, which was super salty. The steak bites were good, but I had to peal the breading off. I ordered their minestrone soup and it was very sugary. They had a great whiskey selection which I appreciate. Their service was fast, but not very friendly. I would love to see the wait staff smile more and some gluten free or sugarless options on their menu. read more

Love Love Love the upstairs area of this restaurant/bar! Have eaten there twice now, food was just Ok the first time (ordered safe). Second time my father, kids, and myself all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The chairs and atmosphere were so cozy we stayed for quiet a while. Seats are big and cushy, plus there is a fireplace!
